I am still up in the air with this demo/game. I am not 100% positive if I want to buy it.

Something about the difficulty is weird. Pro is too easy for me but All Star is too hard. Some games I'll win but the games I lose it feels like it was out of my control. Like some games I lose I feel like I play good defense. I am always up in the faces of shooters but they still seem to drain everything. I don't know if it is momentum but when I lose I lose by like double digits.

Don't pre judge the demo. This game will be off the chain. (PS Dwight & Kobe are beasts!!!)
I agree with this a 100% It felt wierd at the beginning but after gettin used to the controls it feels amazing

I see no one answered this but I had the same issue. Player lock in the demo is broken.

Thanks in advance.
I felt like a lot of the fouls in the post were predetermined. Either that or the call would come in late.

Overall I think post work needs a ton of work. Too many times when playing ORL Dwight will catch it in the post, pivot, and take off for a dunk with no dribble. I don't care how athletic he is, it's not physically possible to launch yourself like that at the rim off 2 feet with no step or dribble.

I would like to just be able to beat my man off the dribble with no move for once in a video game.

Teammate AI is very spotty. I've seen too many times where my guards will get beat off the dribble and the bigs rotation will be too late or the contact animation in the paint will be non-existent. Too many uncontested layups in the paint and/or guys like Fish/Nelson finishing over Howard/Bynum/Gasol.

Dynamic DNA is an incredible feature that will reap benefits in the future. Spacing is fantastic as is the playcalling and the free flowing offenses but the clunkliness, bad rebounding mechanics, and lack of consistent smooth animations still plague this series.

I know this game isn't final code so I won't hold it against the final product but if this is how dna is being inputed someone is doing it wrong. D Fish doesn't play as himself imo as he dominates the ball like Iverson- constantly trying to drive the lane and forcing bad shots. D Howard is also playing like C. Bosh constantly trying to face up and drive rather than post up. Bynum is floating around the high mid range area. Maybe that has something to do with playing on superstar rather than all-star(with the exception of d fish who plays like that on every level). I'm also getting becoming a little disappointed with the playcall execution by the a.i. as I see a lot of bunching up in the paint . Little disappointed with the user cpu a.i. off ball movement as well when no plays are called and teammate d(I think help d is almost overprogrammed as my guys are leaving when they don't need to creating way too many cpu scoring opportunities). Dunks seem to ignore defender proximity and just warp to the basket at times.

Despite all that, I'm still playing it a lot

Beluba - I have noticed a problem with the rebounding - often the CPU players will jump early (way before the ball even hits the rim)....it's like the CPU is cheating a bit, because it knows the shot will be a miss ahead of time, so it will jump early - as the ball comes off the rim the CPU rebounder is already at the peak of his jump and just snatches the ball before the human player even gets a chance to jump. This issue of players jumping early to rebound seems to happen a lot.

it's contextual, not like last year. This could be good and bad. I'm loving the game though.

Yeah your right. You have to slowly move in with the player. Thats a really bad idea whoever came up with that.

# 710 Jonesy @ 09/13/09 07:27 PM
They should just add it so when you click down the R stick it engages 'low post mode' then when you click again (or shoot or pass away the ball) it disengages.

I'll try out a RS click for post tomorrow. Shouldn't be an issue to patch it.

Also someone earlier questioned why I didn't say definitively that the stagnant AI bug in the demo was fixed in the final version. I just didn't want to put a 100% guarantee on anything because it's an elusive bug. It cropped up a few times throughout the year and always had a different cause. To the best of my knowledge, it's completely fixed in the final version. In other words, I haven't seen it happen in any of my games over the past few weeks.

Hey Beluba do you think you could make a list of things that are wrong with the demo that are fixed on the final if you have a chance? Thanks and from the impressions so far I can't wait to get my hands on the demo and the final when it comes out. Great job!

So it seems this was touched on but I can't find a good explanation... how do you post up...?

# 715 BTB @ 09/13/09 08:00 PM
Btw I completely disagree with the suggestion to make post up clicking the r stick. They had that in 2k for a year and it was terrible, not intuitive at all. Posting up should be smooth and seemless, having it be a trigger is perfect. They should make it L1 and then switch the quick play button to clicking the r stick, makes a lot more sense.

That's a pretty good indication that you guys sorted it out then. Even if not completely, I could live with it happening once every 15 games or so. As it is with the demo though, It's happening once every other posession.

I'll be curious to see how the post up button works out.

I'm all for constructive feedback. My point was directed at those saying that they played the game for 2 minutes and then turned it off. Some around here just doesn't want the game to be any good and I don't get it. I'd love to have 2 outstanding basketball games to choose from every year. I'm even disappointed that Sony gave up on their series (I hope it comes back next year). I hope 2K10 dazzle us as well.

As far as rebounding in Live 10 is concerned, I'm still playing at Superstar and cleaning the glass has been a smooth experience for me (specially with Gasol and Howard). I'm not worrying too much about boxing out using the "Y" button because it has been no use.

Instead, I'm getting into position and timing the button press. And I think I've mastered it. And I'm no God of the sticks or something like that. So what I'm saying is: if even I could master it, I believe all of you can as well. And that should mean that the rebounding mechanic isn't broken.

But anyways since I started messing with sliders the demo got a lot better for me vs the CPU games. They removed some stuff that I think would have been great for this years game but nothing we can do about that now.

I no guys don't like fooling around with sliders and want the game to play great right out the box but sometimes you have just take 3 minutes to make a simple change like if your not getting any steals or blocks then use the sliders in the demo.
Lowering the game speed defenitely makes the game feel more realistic. As does increasing the hands on perimeter.

the CPU steals the ball way too easily!!! after pulling down the offensive rebound u automatically lose the ball or get stripped or put up a bad shot!!! no charges called when good defense is played just defensive fouls!!!! too many fouls are called on bad shot attemps!!! when pg's go to the hole and challenge a big man the point guard should lose majority of the time and get his shot blocked!!! when I use the freestyle passing option I tend to throw the ball back over half court if one of my men are still back there, that should definitely be fixed!!! no collisions on dunk attempts!!! the alley-oop system is horrible!!! other than that the game is great but with those problems addressed it will b a beautiful thing....

For posting up, the best way to have it is as RB. Make Right CLick the quick play.
