the presentation is great.

the animations have improved but there is something about the rim and shot physics that seem off to me.
the rebounding? wtf,...why is it so unresponsive?
at first i thought i was pressing the wrong button because dwight was not attempting to rebound.
but i wasnt. its just real unresponsive.
you press the rebound button and a half second later the rebound attempt is made...
this is pretty poor.
You played the same game that I did. Live is really good this year. I'll probably buy 2k and think about getting Live after a 10-15 price drop. Its almost there. Mind you, I haven't been able to get through a full quarter of Live in 5 or 6 years.

The graphics are awesome and I love the amount of control you have although its a tough transition from 2k's shot stick afte all these years. I agree with Nogster though, something about the ball physics and the rim are just a bit off. It seems like you're playing on a jr high rim or something.

Is it me and my samsung, or all the players just a bit shiny? Looks like their moms greased 'em all down with vasoline.

I put a video in the Demo video thread. Funny enough, most of my criticisms weren't in the video I captured.

I'm really on the fence about buying this, at least at launch.

well i just played where kobe received the ball right near the top of the side half looking like he was waiting for a play, and just held his dribble for the entire shot clock and then launched and missed a 35foot prayer.
very poor A.i.

then in the very same game. fisher does the exact same thing.

not good EA.

the rebounding unresponsiveness is poor as well.

and its really easy to dunk from what ive played. [that can be negated by sliders though so not really an issue.]

Beluba already commented that this isn't an issue in the final version. As for the demo, you just have to move your defender closer to the dribbler and the AI will kick back in.

Love the graphics and the majority of the animations. The few things I'm not very happy about is the elimination of the post up button along with our inability to impose hard fouls on players who have an open lane to the basket. The contexual method I believe was a bad choice, and many of times I find myself trying to move the left stick slightly towards the defender and basket only to have it stolen. I think eliminating the post up button makes it very difficult for the player to maintain proper protection of the basketball.

I also wish there were more contexual animations for when your opponent has a clear lane to the basket and you want to give them a clean, hard foul as a last resort to prevent them from getting the easy basket. I haven't been very successul with the "Y" button concept of boxing out. I've had much more success with it by not even holding "Y" to initiate the boxout, but instead simply getting in the proper position in front of my man and allowing the box out animation to play out on its own.

Its going to take some time to get use to the locomotion in this game. I'm still a bit jumpy on the stick and it causes my defenders to get out of position a lot. Did I mention how stunning the graphics are? I will agree the players are a bit on the shiny side, but in many cases I didn't even think the glossiness was all that bad. I love how colorful this game is and it truly reflects just how colorful the games are presented on television. Really good job on the facial accuracies as well, most of them were spot on.

man, I think the honeymoons over for me........(I can still watch the Kobe pull up all day though, its so pretty) But past the presentation, I just cant get over the clunkyness of the game..

Alot of the animations heading to the basket can be initiated from way too far out.....and even though there are collisions, they just dont look natural alot of the time, that and its really the same handful of animations for any type of player from what im seeing...from Pau to Nelson...thats basketball as much as anything else to me...making basketball moves...and im not really feeling how the game flows as far as that....

also, is there a "get by" move im missing?...I love the killer crosses...but I hate usinig them to get past the defender EVERY time..

(EDIT: I love the way lay ups are done, this should be the standard IMO)

# 648 bizcanos @ 09/13/09 02:48 AM
What happened to clean layups when driving to the rim...I have seen the same congested/body to body/should have been a fouled call animation over and over and over again when performing a layup/close shot or shot in the lane.

Why on a fastbreak I can's stop Gasol, Bynum, Howard....they just drive to the hole and no one can stop them and they just dunk or lay it up.

Why do I dribble out of bounds or my feet touch the line and nothing is called.

Why do I clearly appear to be behind the 3pt line but its 2 points (maybe I just can't see that well).

Maybe this is all fixed in the final version...

I know beluba and those guys work hard and they know their game but IMO I honestly believe they have to make the AI smarter in terms of offensive awareness and off the ball movement.

I see tons of videos showing off stuff but most of it was Human driven not by the actual CPU players themselves. In the demo they did some wtf things that made me scratch my head. But when you play another person the entire game just looks great in terms of movement and game flow.

I know we can't the exact type of play by the AI on it's own as opposed to seeing a human player control the AI's movement and decisions. But man if i can somehow get the AI to be smarter offensively and make them handle the ball just a tad bit like the human controlled player I'd fall in love with the action vs the the CPU only games.

I'm Keeping my fingers crossed that the Final version or the patch steps it up about another notch for games vs the AI

I think some of the problems people are having are due to the defensive settings, camera angle, and certain bugs in the demo.

For instance the dunks--this is a 700+MB file. They might have cut down on the amount of dunk animations in the demo.

AI errors--certain actions are demo exclusive bugs.

There are other things I see, but I'll wait until the final version before bringing them up.

Dude please we are grown azz men.......

One thing i hate is another person telling someone else they are superior to them because they play a different damn video game.

I'll put my knowledge of the game (REAL LIFE) vs your knowledge any damn day and your NBA 2K homerism won't have anything to do with me clowning your azz in terms of basketball IQ.

I've never understood how some people keep assuming that if you play NBA 2K your more intelligent or hardcore than anyone that plays NBA Live.

It's alright to admit that the demo was too hard airwade. It's ok. Just practice.

Does D Wade not shoot Fadeaways in real life?
Because he can't do them in the demo, he just does his lil step back move.

Edit: I can do a fade if i pick up my dribble.

One-hand under the basket, no grab
LeBron "Side Extension" dunk
LeBron "Top Extension" dunk
LeBron double clutch
Basic windmill
Basic one-handed dunk

There may be 2 or 3 more (probably a 360 that I haven't seen), but seriously... I think that's it. I haven't seen any reverses or Shaq-like power dunks. It seems only LeBron has his "style" represented in the game.

Yeah yeah, everyone's gonna say it's only the demo, but seriously... I don't wanna hear it. I doubt there will be that many more in the final version.
Most definitely all of Lebron dunks are in this game, but no one else's. I was able to do a reverse dunk with melo in the hangar tho.

After praising this when I first played the demo, I think I overrated it a bit. I'm still going to get the game, but when the price go down. It seems impossible to do a clean layup and all of the animations are the same. It doesn't matter if you're getting fouled or not, its like it's a percentage on when they can call a foul. I like the game, but blah...

Disappointed in the fact that we can't do a dunk while posting up ala Shaq/Howard. Post game is bad.

Its impossible to get a user steal. Its pissing me off.

I finally got a chance to play the demo, and I must say, I was impressed with what I saw not bad at all..I couldn't get the hang of the game fully really kept wanting to play 2Kish at time with it, and it really doesn't help when I came from a friends house earlier in the evening playing 2K9 again lol so it took some getting used to.

Graphics in Live 10 are just amazing, wow very great looking game people where right when they said it looks better than what the videos showed I mean wow.

Player control is just crazy, I have yet to play any Basketball game with this much player control, great job here EA loved it.

Dribbling is done excellent with the amount of moves you can pull off, but I will say that left stick dribbling is just okay for me...not much of a fan of left stick moves not in Live 10 nor do I care for it in 2K titles, more of an annoyance than anything to try and pull off dribble moves with the same stick as moving your player around (just my opinion though) but all in all the right stick moves are just beautiful.

Loved the spacing on the court and player off-ball movements, makes the action feel and look more NBA like.

The atmosphere is just out of control, I just love it...crazy amount of personality to the arena, can't wait to hear the way the other arenas will sound in the final version.

Of course I have a few gripes with the game, which are just my personal feelings towards it, maybe an issue maybe not. First off, I seen some jerkiness from time to time when the game was in motion, but that's probably not there in final build.

It seemed like almost everytime I grabbed an offensive rebound and wanted to go up strong for some nasty D Howard yams (Yes I said yams) I seem to lose the ball before I can even do anything, now I am not sure if this was caused because of holding RT which does size-up moves or not but I didn't like that at all, which kind of made me not really care much for holding RT for size-up moves because it also acts as a sprint button if I am correct.

Fouls seemed to be called a bit late at times...found myself getting called for a reach in foul like a few seconds after I attempted the steal which was weird, probably like that in the real NBA just awkward in video games.

A few times I have made a pump fake and got the D to jump out there shoes, but when I wanted to blow by the defender when he was in the air they recovered a bit to quick preventing me from getting any step on the at all.

They still have some of that good ol rocket dunk shoes on, which isn't as bad as previous Lives but, it can be annoying to see.

Some of the rebound animations look weird, mainly the one where they jump up with too hands kind of leaning towards the ball, it seems as if there jump is way too early and they just hang in air for the rebound.

No post up button is annoying, the auto post is okay i guess but I really feel there should be a manuel post up button. This just irks me.

Well not much really I can say that I didn't like about the game though, and again these are my personal positives and negatives about the game. The negatives probably aren't that big of a deal to be game breakers since overall I thought the game was great, it played great and felt great. If I had more time to play the game I could probably write something better and more in-depth than what I have not but for now this is just what I got out of playing the game for a short while.

You aren't going to get a steal by just mashing the X button. You got to time it and use it in the right situations.

Essentially, hitting the steal button just as you make contact with the dribbler on a drive or crossover move. Or hitting steal when you see a guy sizing up. Or hitting steal just as you make contact with a guy going for a layup to strip the ball. Or reading where the shooter is trying to go, anticipating, and challenging/blocking his shot.
