NBA Live 10 News Post

SEPTEMBER 11, 2009 - Electronic Arts announced today that a playable demo of NBA LIVE 10 is now available for download on Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace for all Xbox LIVE Gold Subscribers. Play as the Orlando Magic or the Los Angeles Lakers and re-write, or relive, last year’s NBA Finals match-up. The demo will be available to Xbox LIVE Silver members and on the PLAYSTATION® Network™ on September 17th, 2009.

With a renewed focus on creating an authentic 5 on 5 basketball videogame experience, NBA LIVE 10 introduces a myriad of gameplay improvements to the long running franchise. Computer controlled players will now move and react like their real life counterparts with enhanced player A.I. (artificial intelligence), and authentic, team-specific playbooks. In addition, all new dribbling, passing and shooting systems now give users more control over individual players than ever before seen in the franchise. Gamers can now control every movement as they break down a defender on the perimeter, drive to the basket, and finish at the basket using their left or right hand. From dishing no look passes to releasing a step back shot early or late to avoid a block from a defender, NBA LIVE 10 lets you to create highlight reel plays on your terms.

NBA LIVE 10 also features significant improvements in the franchises overall presentation. Arena specific lighting and crowd behaviors, signature pre-game rituals and celebrations, evolving storylines, and an all new broadcast package are just some of the many enhancements that will ensure that NBA LIVE 10 looks and sounds like a real life NBA game.

Powered by Dynamic DNA, NBA LIVE 10 will use the latest stats, rosters and tendencies for all the players and teams in the NBA*. With data supplied by Synergy Sports Technology – the premier analytics provider for over 25 NBA teams, Dynamic DNA allows NBA LIVE 10 to provide the most authentic basketball simulation experience in a videogame to date.

It is definitely a learning curve but if you played Live 09 enough you realize when you hunkered down and played defense you could come back from a deficit... its in the similar mindstate where you have to play good, and smart man and help D not trying to get steals, but staying in front of your man, staying between him and the basket, cutting off angles, switching at the right time, (you cant keep up with guys like Kobe for the most part though)

You have to know who you're guarding and playing against. Artest on offense is not more effective in driving but he does get that shot where he goes down the middle from baseline and hop steps a shot. I've seen him do that IRL especially when he played for the Kings, and he can get it on you in this game but its not often. He likes to hang at the 45 degree which is where he's most effective shooting the 3.

I think you'll enjoy yourself much Hoosier

Tell me about it. F'n Derek Fisher blocked my man from behind on a fast break play as I went up for the dunk. I'm noticing a lot of blocked dunks with no fouls called and it's driving me crazy.

Awkward block shots are definitively happening a atd too much, but at the other side of the coin (as its being the case with rebounding) I disagree with people saying it's a weak aspect of the gameplay.

I've been consistently defending the paint with D-12, blocking shots in realistic fashion and altering many others making the cpu adjust their game.

I mean, you can make the defensive presence of a beast like Howard felt when playing the game (it helps that his block rating is 99 as well lol). That brings great balance to the experience since you can use a offensive challenged superstar like Howard to control the game in a different fashion.

Also, the animation where you go for a block shot when the ball is almost at its apex (way after the shooter releases it) is pure bliss. Very reminiscent of Patrick Ewing in his Final Four against the Cougars.

So is player lock broken in the demo or what? It's terrible.

superstar is definitely the most realistic difficulty

I'm being able to exploit the mismatch of Lewis x Gasol on the perimeter just as the Czar told us. After starting the size up moves, Gasol is pretty much on Lewis' mercy. Loving it, loving it!

I think its cool how on hustle plays when people are diving for the loose ball how the other players will trip and jump over them. Just one of those small details that I thought was realistic.

anything in specific that lead you toward that opinion?

A couple things I'm noticing.

Guys like Gasol and Bynum get way to finesse when they're trying to score. I've seen Gasol do a euro step and Bynum do spin moves in traffic. It's kinda frustrating watching them be able to pull those moves off.

Players rarely wait for the ball to get off the rim before they go up for the rebound, there's an obvious amount of goaltending going on.

I have no doubt some of these things will be addressed in the full game. Just thought I'd point them out though.

i am really feeling the demo. just like the look of the game, flow of the game, everything. some jerky animations on occasion, but nothing like in the past. most of it is unnoticable cuz man this game is pretty. for my taste it is one of the best looking sports games i have seen. ea sports appears to really be stepping their game up across the board this year, live being no exception....

I'd like to do that but it would be kind of hard without replay mode.

I meant to quote oOausarOo

Is Dick a friend that you play with? It sounds like you own him all the time.

You do understand you probably will get a infraction for that statement.

Defenitely not feeling the demo. Players feel like they are skating and big men are too quick in comparison to smaller, faster guards. I also actually preferred the separate shooting and dunk buttons but that's not a big deal. I just wish players felt like they had more weight to them.

Just finished playing demo and visually it's beautiful. The crowd , stadium and players look awesome and pre-game lil jig by D.Howard was pretty dead on. As for gameplay, used player lock with V.Carter and was surprised how well the help defense comes over when it appears you have a open lane to the basket. I'm impressed to say the least. When I was in the hangar, I didn't see CP3 (PS3 only??) .Also if that's Yao Ming sitting on the bench, then kudos to EA for showing our injured Rocket some love. Again great lookin demo and will def look to play finish product when it goes Gold in Oct

Is it me or does anyone agree that Superstar seems to have more balanced play?...I thought I would get blown out on Superstar but after several games I'm more competitive on Superstar than I am on All-Star. Superstar IMO has better overall defense
I thought that on superstar the game would act like all madden but i have had the best experience so far with this demo on superstar level. The games have been competitive with me and the cpu winning games.

On a side not, I'm seeing a lot of circus shots being put up when there's contact being made in the paint. On a couple occasions I'd be backing down with Pau and as soon as I get in the air and draw some contact he does a sort of reverse layup instead of keeping it simple. It doesn't happen ALL the time but it definitely occurs more times then it should.
From my experience from the demo....Fisher takes mostly uncontested 3's or mid range jumpers.... But whenever you go on a run...either to catch up or to increase the lead...kobe goes off.. at a time i went on a run and fisher just kept giving the ball to kobe while hes posting me up for the turnaround jumper or takes me off the dribble in the perimeter.

i disagree, you sound like a college football analyst saying a team is no good this year because they were last year. i'm a 2K guy all the way, but i'm really thinking about going LIVE this year. guys like you get too caught up in the "mine's better than yours" bull**** and dont have an open mind to anything. i havent played 2K this year yet, but i'm loving this years LIVE. and it's only the Demo.
