Play as the Orlando Magic or the Los Angeles Lakers and re-write, or relive, last year’s NBA Finals match-up. The demo will be available to Xbox LIVE Silver members and on the PLAYSTATION® Network™ on September 17th, 2009.

With a renewed focus on creating an authentic 5 on 5 basketball videogame experience, NBA LIVE 10 introduces a myriad of gameplay improvements to the long running franchise. In addition, all new dribbling, passing and shooting systems now give users more control over individual players than ever before seen in the franchise. Gamers can now control every movement as they break down a defender on the perimeter, drive to the basket, and finish at the basket using their left or right hand. From dishing no look passes to releasing a step back shot early or late to avoid a block from a defender, NBA LIVE 10 lets you to create highlight reel plays on your terms.

NBA LIVE 10 also features significant improvements in the franchises overall presentation. Arena specific lighting and crowd behaviors, signature pre-game rituals and celebrations, evolving storylines, and an all new broadcast package are just some of the many enhancements that will ensure that NBA LIVE 10 looks and sounds like a real life NBA game.

Seriously...yeah, it does like cartoony compared to 2K.

But when you see things like the player momentum in motion.....it makes up for any flaws IMO
its probably the vibrant colors of Live that makes it look cartoony and the players may move smoothly but there just something off about them on how they move...i cant put my finger on it..

funny thing is that i like the vibrant colors it gives the game more "pop" compared to the desaturated look of 2k's

Ok guys, let's quell the 2k/Live discussions here.

In one of the threads the developers mentioned that they are putting some of the ratings under the hood. I like this now that I understand why. I am the worlds worst for looking at a players ratings and deciding how to use him. For instance there's been a many poorly overall rated player w/high fg or 3pt ratings (Dana Barros) that I've turned into the next Reggie Miller, this is one of the reasons I won't initiate trades in my franchise season. I am good for taking the guy rated 55 overall but 75 in 3-pt and turning him into an all star. We now have to make some choices based on output (stats) that's very realistic to me and I hope that trend continues.

Also in response to some of the discussions about how the CPU/AI attacks you:
I've been massacred by Kobe, but he didn't create an "And 1" video in front of me but hit me with nice drives, a post up or two, mid-range step backs, 3-pt, and then when I finally managed to stop some of that he ran into the lane and did a euro-step whirly-bird some kinda fade-away. I liked it all that's exactly how I think he does IRL. The next game I jumped on him early and he went 2-6.

I am really digging this game as you might can tell!

I love that word "quell."

OK, back to the Live demo. Man, I just had the craziest game against the Lakers. LA went to the line 16 times!!! Howard picked up 2 quick fouls trying to protect the basket as Kobe was being super-aggressive this game and driving past VC at will. It was nice to see the CPU be so aggressive and drive to the rim and they continued to attack the hoop after Superman sat down.

Gortat, I hadn't used him before, is a nice player. He can go up and get the ball and plays solid defense. He also has a good face-up jumper as I hit 2 over Bynum.

The one thing I've liked about this demo from the jump has been the realistic shooting percentages. I'm hoping that stays in as I'm not a big slider guy. Most games both teams are around 40-47% from the field. Sure, I've had games where the percentage is higher but for the most part, the stats fall right in the sweet spot.

I'm not a big graphics guy so that is not a concern at all. As long as it looks better than my PS2 games, I'm happy

I like the graphics. They look cartoony I guess, but honestly, when you put too much graphical detail into a video game, the gameplay and animations get clunky (see Madden).

Anybody have tips on how to learn this game quick? I call plays and see a red dot for the PG to stand on, and thats after that I just pass to an open man...doesnt seem that I am doing it right.

Also, on defense..do you switch to cover each ball handler? I guess any general advice would be cool since I am still struggling a biut with the controls. The demo is very very good though.

I want to love this game because Marcus is a good guy and a bit of a friend (I met him at the NCAA Basketball 09 event and have chatted with him online since 2004).
But those cartoony graphics are driving me crazy.
I am not anti-NBA Live whatsoever. I want both games to be great ... but whenever I play the Live demo, I feel like I'm looking at a cartoon.

I know that sounds stupid ... but IMO they overdid the graphics.
Yeah, cartoony is a good way to describe them. I still like the 2k graphics better.

Does anyone notice the sound cut out once in awhile? I have 5.1 surround and occasionally it sounds like it cuts out for a split second...I've played the PS3 demo too and didn't have that problem...

I just turned down the speed in the demo 6 or 7 clicks and now, you can really feel the basketball coming out. I was a big fan of the demo before but, I felt it was a little to quick. Now, that I put the speed down, WOW is all I can say.

Anyway else think it was a little to fast?

one thing i noticed about turning down the speed was a few guys speed bursts wouldnt work while trying to run downcourt on a fastbreak. at least thats what i noticed.

I bleed purple and gold, so everytime I wil play I would run with tha lakers.. So just now i decided to give a go with The Magic... The difference in team playstyle was amazing.... I did not what to do, I am so a custom to running the tri-angle now... On the old school lives 97-05 (that I played) I could use any team and play my style and blow you out.. This year not so fast you play the teams playstyle. AMAZING I am sold, Mike Wang & Team EA in 1yr.
