NBA Live 10 News Post

SEPTEMBER 11, 2009 - Electronic Arts announced today that a playable demo of NBA LIVE 10 is now available for download on Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace for all Xbox LIVE Gold Subscribers. Play as the Orlando Magic or the Los Angeles Lakers and re-write, or relive, last year’s NBA Finals match-up. The demo will be available to Xbox LIVE Silver members and on the PLAYSTATION® Network™ on September 17th, 2009.

With a renewed focus on creating an authentic 5 on 5 basketball videogame experience, NBA LIVE 10 introduces a myriad of gameplay improvements to the long running franchise. Computer controlled players will now move and react like their real life counterparts with enhanced player A.I. (artificial intelligence), and authentic, team-specific playbooks. In addition, all new dribbling, passing and shooting systems now give users more control over individual players than ever before seen in the franchise. Gamers can now control every movement as they break down a defender on the perimeter, drive to the basket, and finish at the basket using their left or right hand. From dishing no look passes to releasing a step back shot early or late to avoid a block from a defender, NBA LIVE 10 lets you to create highlight reel plays on your terms.

NBA LIVE 10 also features significant improvements in the franchises overall presentation. Arena specific lighting and crowd behaviors, signature pre-game rituals and celebrations, evolving storylines, and an all new broadcast package are just some of the many enhancements that will ensure that NBA LIVE 10 looks and sounds like a real life NBA game.

Powered by Dynamic DNA, NBA LIVE 10 will use the latest stats, rosters and tendencies for all the players and teams in the NBA*. With data supplied by Synergy Sports Technology – the premier analytics provider for over 25 NBA teams, Dynamic DNA allows NBA LIVE 10 to provide the most authentic basketball simulation experience in a videogame to date.

A little off topic, but are there going to be in game saves in the full game?

This is actually quite ridiculous to me. For some people, headbands and socks are a big deal, but this type of stuff is what I look at. It seems like the CPU gets too many steals when you're in the lane regardless if you're controlling a big or a guard. I'm hoping this can be addressed with sliders. My $65 isn't committed to any game yet.

Not game ruining, but bothersome.
Not to bash your playing style, but look at the way the cpu drives the ball. They wont force if you beat them to their spot/have a body on them, like some human players do. Steals are kind of complicated in this game, if you watch or read Beluba's blog on defense you will get a better sense.

Edit: Thought this might help.... The way I learned to drive the lane in Live 10 is wait for the open lane. Or when contact happens you could either pull back on the left or right stick, or wait a second until the body-up-animation is through and cross back the other way. Basically I'm saying it's best not to force it when a defender is in front of you, use the size ups and the attack dribble to set up your man before attacking the hoop.

Ok just saw Vince Carter tip the ball and Howard grabbed it. So I guess someone else can get the ball but you still don't have control, still is canned.

I gotta say I'm just at awe of this game. Most fun I've had with a sports game since nfl2k5 and allpro. It's just amazing and I'm noticing the little things as well. Just went on a 10-0 run with the Magic and as I was making this run the crowd got quiet, and you can see more and more people begin taking a seat and more and more people stop twirling their towels lol It's crazy man, the presentation is top notch. It's also amazing how you can have some many things happen in 1 possession. From a blocked shot going out of bounds, to a foul, to an offensive rebound, a tipped passed (All in 1 possession). I also noticed that depending on what tempo you choose you better play to that or else things get real interesting. Also not that you have to change how you wanna defend the pick & roll as well (Not just you but your CPU teammates as well). I use the show & recover more now and I noticed my CPU defense is a lot better. Hopefully all this ties into defensive ratings as well (As some teams have such a hard time defending the pick & roll a la the Lakers).

And speaking of the Lakers and the pick & roll. I knocked down 3 shots in a row with Nelson from the P&R because Bynum was lagging off and I notice after the 3rd time he begin showing more on the P&R so I didn't have that open shot. So it looks like the CPU adjust to what your doing as well. A ton of fun, just a ton of fun and it's only the demo.

After spending a bit of time playing 2K10 this morning there is no doubt in my mind LIVE is the game for me. I used to be a 2K guy until last year (couldn't handle the stuttering on the 2K cam) so I tried LIVE out. It did have it's problems but at least I felt like I was playing a different game. This year is just so much better in every way. I know this forum in general favours 2K but if people were to give LIVE a chance I think they would love it. Just my 2 cents.

Not really related, but Nelson is an absolute beast in this game. Even on superstar, I can just hit shot after shot with him, even if they are contested. Hopefully that's a demo problem.

I'll give that a go, thanks.

I can't believe I am going to say this. I am a huge 2K fan and would never imagine I would leave the NBA 2k franchise. But this year I got to say I am going with LIVE. It is a huge step in the right direction.

First of all 2k9 really got under my skin last year with the terrible Iso-motion. The whole movement system needs scrapped in 2k. It is to robotic and causes a real lack of "speed" in the way players move and react.

Now onto LIVE. I am throughly impressed with how smooth everything moves at. It is silky smooth cutting across the lane and doing a pull up. As you do a pull up and keep your momentum and fade in the same direction you were running.

The skill stick or what ever they call the right stick for doing the cross overs and such is such a breath of fresh air compared to 2ks.

Little things such as the arrow that shows the direction you have the left stick pressed is such a small thing but really helps in making correct passing to the man you want the ball to go to.

All in all I am getting NBA Live 10 this year. Give me my New Orleans Hornets and let me dominate with Chris Paul

I'm sure the nelson problem won't be an issue in the full version because the demo doesn't take into account fatigue.

Which was a big part in last years game on whether or not you could make jumpers.

The better shooters could still hit them but not at the same rate as they could earlier in the game. And the weaker shooters would miss a lot if you didn't take good shots.

Also you got to factor in hot/cold streaks which will effect your shooting also.

Remember that this demo was compiled very early on in the development of the full game so hopefully a lot of the shading/touchups will be done by then...

Lol at telling people to calm down just because you don't care for the game.

# 1255 phant030 @ 09/29/09 06:07 PM
^Right, why would someone calm down and not be excited over something they like and are.....excited for?

# 1256 kydee6039 @ 09/29/09 06:18 PM
I am pumped for this game but for the people who say this was an early build and that the retail version will hopefully look better - I doubt it. Every year people say this and the retail version always looks identical to the demo.

# 1257 Jano @ 09/29/09 06:18 PM
Yep I don't understand some people maybe that's how things work in their world.

# 1258 tcain80 @ 09/29/09 06:27 PM
I'm still in utter shock that I might actually buy Live over 2k. Surely this is a sign of the apocalypse.

# 1259 Jano @ 09/29/09 06:33 PM
Nah that's not a sign of apocalypse now if you were choosing to buy sony's NBA game over 2K and Live then I would be scared.

this, is what gets me about people. as if they are ashamed of liking Live. i think thats why a lot of people don't even give Live a chance, they are afraid people might talk bad about them or something. is that what we've come to in the sports gaming world, at least when there are 2 viable choices involved? if people give something a chance, they might like it, you know? the demo sold me right away when i played it, and i always preferred 2k, just get what you like man and dont worry about what anyone else likes but you.
