NBA Live 10 News Post

SEPTEMBER 11, 2009 - Electronic Arts announced today that a playable demo of NBA LIVE 10 is now available for download on Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace for all Xbox LIVE Gold Subscribers. Play as the Orlando Magic or the Los Angeles Lakers and re-write, or relive, last year’s NBA Finals match-up. The demo will be available to Xbox LIVE Silver members and on the PLAYSTATION® Network™ on September 17th, 2009.

With a renewed focus on creating an authentic 5 on 5 basketball videogame experience, NBA LIVE 10 introduces a myriad of gameplay improvements to the long running franchise. Computer controlled players will now move and react like their real life counterparts with enhanced player A.I. (artificial intelligence), and authentic, team-specific playbooks. In addition, all new dribbling, passing and shooting systems now give users more control over individual players than ever before seen in the franchise. Gamers can now control every movement as they break down a defender on the perimeter, drive to the basket, and finish at the basket using their left or right hand. From dishing no look passes to releasing a step back shot early or late to avoid a block from a defender, NBA LIVE 10 lets you to create highlight reel plays on your terms.

NBA LIVE 10 also features significant improvements in the franchises overall presentation. Arena specific lighting and crowd behaviors, signature pre-game rituals and celebrations, evolving storylines, and an all new broadcast package are just some of the many enhancements that will ensure that NBA LIVE 10 looks and sounds like a real life NBA game.

Powered by Dynamic DNA, NBA LIVE 10 will use the latest stats, rosters and tendencies for all the players and teams in the NBA*. With data supplied by Synergy Sports Technology – the premier analytics provider for over 25 NBA teams, Dynamic DNA allows NBA LIVE 10 to provide the most authentic basketball simulation experience in a videogame to date.

Same here...I've been a 2k guy for years...I just played both demos back to back and even though I am more familiar with how 2k plays, I feel much more comfortable with Live...

Yeah, they both have flaws, but I find those in Live less annoying.

Same here. Crazy year it might be for me, first I prefer NHL10 by EA over 2K and now might prefer LIVE over 2k. Wow! Perhaps it's inevitable game manufacturers get complacent and so worth trying something new and different.

Well maybe since the developers told them the retail version is different they have 100% faith it will look and play better.

If someone told you that next week they'd give you $100 bucks wouldn't you get excited

Welcome to the world of DEMOS, RETAIL VERSIONS and PATCHES.

A game is no longer complete now days anymore until these companies release their 2nd or 3rd patches to fix the game and make it better......

My post was commenting on the look of the game - not gameplay. People were commenting that hopefully players will look more realistic in the retail copy - highly doubtful.

World of technology unfortunately. Patching PC games happens more consistent and quicker then consoles but just can't play sports games on the PC for some reason.

Well, been playing both demos all day, and I am sold on NBA Live. Can anyone help with my around the basket game though? I find it hard to beat guys off the dribble, but even when I do it seems like the lane is always clogged.

Well umm always string moves together while holding the size up button.... and just try to keep the defender on his feet....and also u shud try some pro hops or spin layups or things of the sort....because those help you get around the defenders if the lane is clogged...works for me about 75% of the time...

Definitely agree w\ this....just shouldnt happen to better ball carriers....

Also, I love that you are in complete control of your crossover, but why is that the only means of getting by your man? That, and sometimes squaring up...am I missing something? I STILL cant just blow by anyone after playin this demo pretty consistently...gets pretty old for me....along w\ the inability to deflect as a human player...any tips on this? I dont think I can play more then a couple of game w\o being able to do either..

I haven't played Live in years so I just need to double check. Does Live have the view where you're looking up the court like you would in real life?

Sometimes its the user's fault. Sometimes cpu is just too efficient at it. Need more reaching calls for bigs and other positions.

I can get by players pretty good w/ Kobe and Farmar. At times w/ Artest. I dont find it a problem. I'll more that like likely use pick and roll or play call to get them in scoring position.

Secondly, I get defenders on my hip often which allows for step backs, kick outs, and dimes in the post. I really dont want destroy defenders badly too often because I dont want to become too effiecent at it and ruin my gaming experience.

To me, its close to being balance...maybe a few more reach ins or if defenders arent too good at defending their aggression is limited. Causing a situation where i'm scared to dribble on Artest but not to much on R. Lewis.

Maybe your talking about baseline high/low....

Take a look at the mike wang video, where he showcases different camera angles.

First of all 2k9 really got under my skin last year with the terrible Iso-motion. The whole movement system needs scrapped in 2k. It is to robotic and causes a real lack of "speed" in the way players move and react.

Now onto LIVE. I am throughly impressed with how smooth everything moves at. It is silky smooth cutting across the lane and doing a pull up. As you do a pull up and keep your momentum and fade in the same direction you were running.

The skill stick or what ever they call the right stick for doing the cross overs and such is such a breath of fresh air compared to 2ks.

Little things such as the arrow that shows the direction you have the left stick pressed is such a small thing but really helps in making correct passing to the man you want the ball to go to.

All in all I am getting NBA Live 10 this year. Give me my New Orleans Hornets and let me dominate with Chris Paul
Phobia, you're my boy and I completely agree with everything you stated. I, too, am leaving 2k after having played their NBA exclusively for 7 years in favor of Live this year. Live just feels fresh where 2k feels stale.

2k's demo the players felt slow and robotic. Don't even get me started on Isomotion. Man, what a disappointment those controls are compared to the EA freestyle moves with the R-stick; much more fluid and responsive.

Same here. I'm still getting over the shock of planning to buy an NBA Live game. The gap between the 2 franchises has always been so big, but who knew it would all change in the span of a year.

Yea there in the game Pappy its just that this year EA decided not to give us alt camera option in the demo.

In the full game the cameras you are talking about are the baseline high/low cams same as the 2K and high cam in the other game.

But those cartoony graphics are driving me crazy.
I am not anti-NBA Live whatsoever. I want both games to be great ... but whenever I play the Live demo, I feel like I'm looking at a cartoon.

I know that sounds stupid ... but IMO they overdid the graphics.
I was playing both demos back to back last night, and my wife walked in and said the same thing, Live looked like a cartoon. I laughed when she said it.

Thanks for the response. It's hard for me to see the lanes from that broadcast view, so I wanted to make sure. Can't believe I'm getting Live this year.

Seriously...yeah, it does like cartoony compared to 2K.

But when you see things like the player momentum in motion.....it makes up for any flaws IMO
Agreed. I prefer 2K's graphics but I can live with Live's. They're not bad, they just went in another direction.

Yea DJ, it is crazy so many people are feeling LIVE this year. I think 2k's system of movement started to really get to people last year with all the skating, sliding, players moving all over the place with out you trying, etc. The reason was Isomotion. 2K9 brought in a issue I never saw the 2k franchise having. Lack of control!!!!

I can't tell you how many times I am driving down in 2k9 and feel like I lose control of my player because isomotion does funky crap. "I am trying to do a step back......NOT turn my back to the basket and cross over the sideline!!! arrggggggg"

Now Live might not have all the different animations that 2k does. Just judging from the demo it does not. Maybe the retail will have more. But that still does not take away from the gameplay stand point. The fluid nature of the controls makes it soooo much more "fun" and much less frustrating.

I wanna see Live do a NHL 09 and make a huge come back
