Power Pros 2016 News Post

Baseball fans, don't be sour. Look above, and feel the power! It's a new day on PlayStation 4, yes it is! For the first time in the platform's short history, Konami is bringing one of their two Nippon Professional Baseball games to PS4. Power Pros 2016 is targeting a Spring 2016 release in Japan on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, and that's all we really know about the game right now, based on an official press release that contains one teaser screenshot.

A new version of Pro Yakyuu Spirits is also being made for iOS and Android, and that product is far enough along in development that Konami has posted a pretty detailed trailer to their Japanese YouTube channel:

Pro Yakyuu Spirits Ace should be available on phones and tablets sometime in 2015, according to the above video. Konami's also uploaded lots of in-game screenshots and a few paragraphs describing Ace's game modes on its Japanese webpage.

It can be done, but you probably need a very high arm/catcher rating to be reliable.

Orix doesn't have that (in PYS 2010), so...yeah. I've had success stealing, but it can be hard.

Yea the catchers for the Buff's in 2010 had poor range/reaction with avg arm accuracy & strength. You can throw out runners if you have good catchers but it can be tough without. Best thing you can do is keep them from stealing in the first place by using pickoffs & pitchouts and throw "plus" fastballs high in the zone. Also vary the delay in your pickoffs, sometimes you can catch them running if you stall. Late in the game try to find pitchers with quick delivery or "vs Runner" special skills which increases pitch velocity.

As for stealing bases it certainly can be done especially with your S, A, or B speed rated players. I've stolen with C & D as well but it gets challenging. Just like in real life wait for breaking ball counts, pitchers with long deliveries, lowball or junk pitchers, those with below avg fastball velocity, bad condition (which decreases control) and above all else poorly rated catchers. Also mash the bumper buttons during the run for a slight speed increase.

Could use some help. I currently have a bunch of Amazon credit that can only be used on the US site. Is this the version of Powerful Pro 16 I should be looking to order?

https://www.amazon.com/Commentary-Po...=operasport-20

Then there is this one which is a little cheaper. Same thing as the one above?

Yes they are the same version and the correct one to order.

Yeah, that might be the reason. Anyways just after posting it I was able to out a couple of runners trying to steal 2nd base and I also stole a base myself, so it's all good hehe.

By the way, I just got a ps3 and can't find the game in the store. (Until I can get 2015 I just ordered a cheap 2011 disc version from ebay, which should arrive in 3 days). Have they been pulled out from it or what? I guess yes. Anyone knows the reason behind it? Could this be a sign of the series being done forever? I hope that's not the case.

Really wanted the digital version, as I hate how the ps3 doesn't let you fully install games it seems. I got skate 3 at the moment and even though it asked me to install something off the disc, I can often hear the disc drive spinning and making noise, which I guess will considerably shorten the disc drive lens lifespan (keep reading a lot of cases about people's ps3 stopping reading discs) I guess PYS doesn't allow you to fully install the game as well? I know there is an option in the utility menu to install the game , but is the disc also constantly spinning during gameplay?

Pys games were always pulled rather early from the store.

Good to know it's a common thing so it probably has nothing to do with the series being cancelled. But I wonder who makes these decisions about removing games from the store?. I also wanted the digital version of the EA Skate games but the 3 are gone from the ps store, yet they still are available to buy and download from xbox live so I'm starting to believe it's a Sony thing.

Edit: Same thing with fight night round 3 and 4. Gone on psn, available on xbox live. Ridiculous.

One thing to keep in mind is the fastball velocity of a pitcher in poor condition (purple sad face) and top condition (red happy face) is around 6 to 8 mph. The fastball speed listed in his attributes is best case, so if it says 93 mph then you can expect around 85-87 mph in worst condition. Use that to your advantage when looking to steal.

I wish there was an easy way to test velocity of outfielders arms but in any case it's good to know which players are in bad condition so you can look for aggressive baserunning ops.

Regarding digital DL's, I bought all the versions digitally and can still DL them - but they are no longer available in the store or are very well hidden. Not sure what's up with that.

Didn't know the condition had an effect on throwing speed. Good to know.

By the way could you or anyone else that knows tell me what does the red bar in the picture below represents? I've looked on the spiritstranslation website but couldn't find anything about it. I used the google translator app and I get "the more red gauge that indicates whether the accustomed how much ball speed batter danger! " So I'm guessing the more that blue circle inside the bar is to the left = the better the batter is at hitting that particular pitch? Is that correct?

And also one thing that is literally driving me crazy. I have set my favorite Swallows lineup from the utility menu - arrange team. Everything looks good and it's saved. But when I go to play an exhibition sometimes it loads my custom lineup , but most of the times it loads the default one so I have to make all the changes again before the match, and it's getting really tedious. It happens totally randomly and I have no clue why. Is this some kind of glitch or am I missing something? I'm playing PYS 11 on ps3 if that helps

That is the pitch timing bar I believe. It indicates what speed pitch the batter is expecting. Try to fool the batter by throwing fast when he expects slow and vice versa. It does not operate to any advantage on the first pitch in an at bat. All the way to the right means the batter is looking for a fast ball.

BTW the 2010 website is showing a blank white screen again Spirits.

Ok I think I get it, but someone correct me if I'm wrong. The red bars represent the speed of the pitch the batter is expecting, and the blue circle is the speed of the pitch that I currently have selected. Makes sense.

Thank for the answer!

EDIT : The blue circle is definitely related to your currently selected pitch speed it seems. Right faster/left slower. But I'm still not sure about the red bars

The red bars indicate what pitch speed the batter is expecting you to throw. His chances of good contact increase if he guesses right.

The more bold the red bars the more likely he's looking for/will be on that pitch.

Of course, velocity is just one aspect of a pitch. You can always use that against him, throw something same speed but different movement, etc.

Copy of Powerful Pro 2016 came Friday evening. Still learning what is what but can navigate the settings menu and exhibition mode with ease now.

Two things:

1. PS4 analog sticks stink when hitting. Nothing that will ruin the experience, really, just less than ideal.

2. Is there a detailed guide to editing roster names?

This is my biggest issue with the game and the main reason why I haven't spent as much time with it as I originally anticipated. Even after buying a new PS4 controller the joystick just didn't offer enough precision to control the cursor's movement at the plate.

MLB The Show has the same problem but not to the same extent because Sony's version of cursor hitting does not demand pixel-perfect aim and is more ratings-generated than physics-generated.

I still prefer Konami's more precise cursor hitting system in theory, but the PS4 joystick just isn't equipped to handle it.

Here's Muka's official translation:

"The pitch speed guage shows you what the CPU batter is expecting (as represented by red bars.) The more to the left the gauge is, the slower the pitch he is expecting. The more to the right, the faster. The blue circle represents the speed of your selected pitch, so basically you want to keep this away from large, bright red bars when possible. This can be turned off in settings."

With that said he also remarked how it's sort of a gimmicky thing for beginners. As long as you are mixing up pitches you shouldn't need to use it. I noticed it's more forgiving on fastballs probably because most pitchers throw it around 65% of the time. In other words if you throw too many breaking pitches in a row & the CPU is now expecting it then you might have a problem. You can get away with stringing together some fastballs.

I tried to replicate this with no luck so am not sure what's going on. Once you make changes in "Arrange' and save it then it should automatically load. You can switch to default rosters by clicking the RB button in the exhibition 'Team Select' screen. Perhaps you are enabling this? Other than that, in 'Utility' the save button is also the load button so you might try loading to see what happens.

I've had several problems with this and it stems from the fact that the site is sort of a mess. Each version has so many sub-pages and when I tried to just peel off 2010 it created issues. I'm thinking about making two dedicated sites for 2010 & 2015 (the best versions IMO) and ditching the rest. Anyone in between should be able to figure things out by referencing the two sites.

My analog sticks aren't as bad as others have described. For some it sounded like some sort of lag. I compared the PS3 & PS4 and I didn't see a huge difference, although if pressed I'd probably choose the PS3. I use a GAEMS system which is tuned for gaming only, so could it be your TV's refresh rate?

The PS4 analog has a shorter stick, slightly less range of movement & smaller dead zone so it's more sensitive. I haven't tried these, but some say they are great for close quarters combat in FPS games. They apparently keep you from jerking the stick & over-aiming...
