Madden NFL 15 News Post

Looking at the list of upcoming demos for the week (via PlayStation.Blog), it doesn't appear as though we will see a Madden NFL 15 demo this week and odds are we won't see one next week either.

Things could change, but it doesn't look like we get a Madden demo this year. It could have something to do with EA Access, but that is an Xbox One exclusive. Who really knows, but it certainly doesn't look promising.

We have sent a note to EA Sports and if we get an official response we will update this post.

UPDATE: Just received an official response from EA Sports. Confirmed: No Madden NFL 15 demo.

UPDATE #2: (Polygon received a more detailed response)

Quote:
Update: While EA initially declined to comment on the reasons for the lack of a Madden 15 demo, an EA representative reached out to Polygon after the publication of this story with the following statement to provide some additional context: "The difficult decision not to do a demo for Madden was strictly a result of the team's commitment to deliver the highest-quality game possible. We chose to put 100 percent of our development resources toward the full game."

Thanks for the info about Sony not being on board with the subscription. I have faith in the Sony/PS4 upper management to make the right decisions. I've been thoroughly pleased with my next gen experience to date.

I haven't bought madden in years , 06 or 07 , so I was looking Foward to a demo. Guess I'll have to rent it then .

I have bought nearly every Madden since 2001. I already wasn't planning on buying Madden 15, but I was going to try the demo like I normally do. I guess EA doesn't want a chance to impress me? (And yes I know I could rent it) but it seems like poor marketing for EA to NOT want me to have an easy download to try. Whatever, I guess I'll just spend my $60 bucks elsewhere.

So you have been through 13 years of madden purchasing, including M06 to M11, and THIS is the year you are not buying? You have to provide some more insight on that decision, because it seems IMO ludicrous.

Please help me understand your reasoning.

Might want to reread the first post in the thread again.

If you put it like that it does sound dumb. Honestly though, they're hardly ever significantly different. The game is generally a tad more polished, but every demo has been beyond a fair representation of the final game. There's not been one Madden demo that was ever a different experience. They've all had the same gameplay. The game just has a layer of polish to fix bugs really. They have always played the same though.

But I'm out of this conversation. I've said my piece and am going in enough circles I'm confusing myself haha. I guess I'm just upset there is no demo, and thought I had a point in my head. I'll blame the lack of sleep.

The absentia of a demo is a feasible heartbreaker but should not be a dealbreaker.

It inconveniences you but early access of the retail version or a rental purchase is a better barometer for analysis.

I don't think its because of EA Access, but because a demo simply wouldn't add sales to Madden.

That's my opinion anyway, someone else might think I am talking out of my ***, but it makes a bit of sense from a business standpoint to me anyway.
In video games you are correct the NHL series doesn't have nearly the popularity that Madden does. But Hockey itself has a very hardcore fan base both in the US and Canada as well as 73 countries around the world.

Hockey probably has the most hardcore fanbase of any sport, imo.

It actually can get kind of annoying it's so intense.

I agree. I think that some people can confuse "Hardcore fanbase" with a large fanbase. While Hockey is probably the most hardcore, it's nowhere close to the amount of fans of Football or Soccer has altogether. Also people will argue that Soccer has more hardcore fans.

I don't have the time to re read the whole thread. So EA said 5 days before release...So will only get to see a piece of the game on the 21st or will some type of demo roll out before hand through the EA service?

There's no demo, period.

EA has a new service that will provide access to the full game 5 days early, but only on Xbox One. That is being discussed here: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...ited-beta.html

I don't want to derail this thread because it's supposed to be about the demo so I will end this subject with this comment. Football is and always will be bigger in the US. But worldwide is a different story. Hockey is now played in 7 countries in Africa, 7 in South America and 34 countries in Asia and that list is growing every year. It is quickly becoming a global sport. The 2010 Super Bowl in Miami drew just over 74,000 fans, the 2010 IIHF Wold Championship in Germany drew just over 77,000 fans.

I don' think that comparing the attendance of a game that is limited by stadium seating would be the best way to compare the two's popularity. If that were the case college teams like the Tennessee Volunteers way more popular than the Super Bowl.

However, like you said this conversation is off topic.

As the only game in town now that NCAA has unfortunately hit the road (it was always the better series), Madden now has a chance to capture the $65 that NCAA'ers would only dole out for that game...yet they decide that they don't want to give that new crowd a taste of a series that several of us haven't really dove into over this past generation of systems.

Just a dumb call. NCAA'ers already questioning if they want to go back to Madden after being burned by a stale game for years now have no push to get it. I'm good waiting on FIFA or NHL if I'm waiting a week or so for Madden reviews and the bugs to be found and worked out.

Sometimes I wanna punch EA. Sometimes I wanna punch Sony. Right now I want to punch both. I wish sony picked up the ea subscription service that xbox did and I also wish there was a demo for madden before I go out and spend another 60 dollars on a video game. But oh well. I guess I will go pretend like I'm playing the demo.

Also, the things I want to find out about Madden I can't in the two days of renting before having to return it.

For that matter, the Madden Demo's didn't tell me what I wanted to know either (franchise stuff, simmed stats, long term game balance, team ai logic for trading, roster management, etc).

So the demo doesn't do me much good either. That's why I value OS so much. To get info from OSers that I trust who have the game. This site tells me much more about the game (after release) than any EA demo ever did. Frankly, info about the game, and giving my opinions about where I want the game to go (knowing devs do read these posts and Madden is my only choice) is the only reason I come to OS.

OS is what really makes me decide whether to spend the 60 or not. It really is a valuable resource.
I don't disagree with you at all Bucky, and I think you and are on the same page because I feel the same way about demo's as you do.

My only point, and the only reason I keep bringing it up is that if a user isn't willing to do due diligence whether that be using OS, reviews, or renting, would you not disagree that they have no ground to stand on by complaining about no demo?

For everyone who doesn't want to rent and really wants to try out the gameplay without spending money there is a very simple solution. Head down to your local Gamestop or Bestbuy, they almost always have a few consoles set up with Madden in the store right after launch for anyone to play.

I just don't trust that madden is going to be good but I would still like to try the game. Some people said rent the game but with places like blockbuster closing how are you supposed to do that? I have yet to see a red box that even has ps4 games. All the red boxes I have seen only have xbox 360, ps3 games and wii u games no ps4 games.
Redbox just started adding current gen games earlier this year in test markets. There has been nothing official but rumors say they will be nationwide by the end of the year. Have you looked into Gamefly? They are currently running a 30 day free trial and are pretty good with shipping on release dates.

The only problem is renting options are slim
Blockbuster gone and Redbox does not get new games right away nor carry ps4 or xbox one. ea knows this so no need to offer demo no competition .

I am a old time gamer owned every Madden every year been playing games since Atari 5200. I will not buy there game this year. there graphics are crap compaired to what they should be and they only cyber scanned the new rookies, they do not attempt to get everyone's face in or correct. we should all play the how big of a file is the game going to be like you guess babies weight i am going with 17gb.

Anyone look at the screenshot of Calvin Johnson it is not him at all
how do you not give a cyberface to the greatest receiver in the game.
or try to pass off the same crappy scan from last years game.
this company is famous for adding features only to drop all together the very next cycle they do not build from what they built they scrape it then start over the game will always be blah and the people who do buy it will trade it in after a month like so many do

Because no matter what players have for ratings or skills each and every team in the game will play the same. you will get one half were the cpu is good and one half were they suck. you will play 16-0 teams and kill them and play 0-16 teams and loose badly. the kicking meter will be azz backwards for wind direction,

the game will not call any penalties stamina & Substitutions will work in exhibition mode but not in franchise cause they never test there product
and by the end of there updates the game will play like a coin operated arcade game.

Just my Two cents I think i earned it
