NBA Live 10 News Post

SEPTEMBER 11, 2009 - Electronic Arts announced today that a playable demo of NBA LIVE 10 is now available for download on Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace for all Xbox LIVE Gold Subscribers. Play as the Orlando Magic or the Los Angeles Lakers and re-write, or relive, last year’s NBA Finals match-up. The demo will be available to Xbox LIVE Silver members and on the PLAYSTATION® Network™ on September 17th, 2009.

With a renewed focus on creating an authentic 5 on 5 basketball videogame experience, NBA LIVE 10 introduces a myriad of gameplay improvements to the long running franchise. Computer controlled players will now move and react like their real life counterparts with enhanced player A.I. (artificial intelligence), and authentic, team-specific playbooks. In addition, all new dribbling, passing and shooting systems now give users more control over individual players than ever before seen in the franchise. Gamers can now control every movement as they break down a defender on the perimeter, drive to the basket, and finish at the basket using their left or right hand. From dishing no look passes to releasing a step back shot early or late to avoid a block from a defender, NBA LIVE 10 lets you to create highlight reel plays on your terms.

NBA LIVE 10 also features significant improvements in the franchises overall presentation. Arena specific lighting and crowd behaviors, signature pre-game rituals and celebrations, evolving storylines, and an all new broadcast package are just some of the many enhancements that will ensure that NBA LIVE 10 looks and sounds like a real life NBA game.

Powered by Dynamic DNA, NBA LIVE 10 will use the latest stats, rosters and tendencies for all the players and teams in the NBA*. I just made a block against the backboard with Rashard Lewis. It looked AWESOME!!

We all know that blocks are a little bit off, but when you time it well, you can find yourself standing on your feet trying to view the replay in the pause menu...

This game can't come out soon enough

Can't believe how much this game opens up once you get the controls down. I'm feeling bad for the people who dismissed it after playing 5 games, you're seriously missing out.

I think it's a jab at the devs to say CPU AI logic/flawed is broken based on a few minutes of a demo with 2 only teams.

You want to get at the devs...you know exactly how to do so.

You want to make it better...reach out to them with the same respect they showed us.

Reading the posts at face value makes it seem like you know how to do their job better than they do...and not as constructive criticism.

If you couldn't tell...most of the devs have stopped posting recently.

Y'all got Christmas early and come off like dudes don't know how to do their job.

Like I said in another thread...I hope the demo turns most of y'all off so you don't buy the game so we won't have to see you post.

Early...

I don't know what issues your referring to specifically however Beluba has said that the demo veers off kind of early from production so that it can be properly prepared. I have no idea what that means as far as how final of a build the demo is. I can only say what I said at first and that is I was not feeling the demo nearly as much as the final I played weeks ago.

Couple of thoughts:

+ The slowdown in the PS3 version is really bad.. hopefully it is fixed in the final version.

+ Fisher takes far too many shots in the demo.... I do like the fact that most of them are shots that he would usually take (uncontested threes behind the line) but he is too much of a guner for my tastes in this game, especially compared to Gasol, who rarely takes any shots and is a glorified Reggie Evans in this demo...

+ The animations and control are top-notch... especially after playing NBA2K9 with its endless shot animations that take the control out of your hands, this is a nice change. The off-ball control of other players is inituitive and easy to use.. I've gotten many open looks with this, and it's a nice way to feed Dwight in the post.

+ Some of the i'll advised passes that you can get away with in NBA2k9, you can't get away with here. I really like how the guards playing the passing lanes... it forces you to be extra dilligent with your passes.

+ In contrast to the easy exploitable post and around-the-rim play in 2k9, it seems to be a good deal harder to score in the post and around the rim in the demo. I like the fact that the Lakers front-line is not afraid to send the big man to the line to force him to convert his free throws.

+ It gets quite annoying watching Fisher simply dribble the ball for 10 seconds and let the shot clock drain before passing it off to Artest for a shot over and over again...hopefully this is not the way the AI plays in the final game.

Overall, a few solid demo... I am still awaiting news about franchise features in this game before I commit $60 dollars, as NBA2K is still my series, but this has the makings of a very solid game...

i dont think ****** gamers will be turned on by the fact that they have to know exactly how each player and team plays in real life to do good in the game. and theres a large learning curve to live 10.

so i dont understand what you mean

My statement was referring to past experiences with the Live series/Demos. I want the game to be a Masterpiece as much as anyone. Knwoing this was an early build is good to know because I was unaware of that. Da_Czar thanks for informing me and getting me up to speed on this issue. Peace!!!!

No jokes intended. Just stating how I feel about the game. Was not aware stating personal feelings/opinions are being taken as joking

It's cool I really want this game to be good. I'm just scared to purchase it early only to find some major backbreaker or feature that is terribly broken and is only found after being out $60 + plus is spent. I get this game early every year and end up being let down almost instantly due to some major feature being broken.

Personally I liked the Demo but the more I played the more I started to see issues. But as Da Czar stated it was an early build which calmed me down quite a bit.

I think your taking it the wrong way personally.....

We could be crying out to the developers to look into it more because it's been a problem not just in the DEMO but even in previous builds that weren't a DEMO including Live 09.

I think most of us realize it's a demo

Having said that i'll stop posting because i see some guys are really taking this way too personel and it feels like we can't really point out flaws in the DEMO just the good things or else people will start to get upset.

If i discouraged or upset anyone with my concerns regarding the AI/CPU logic I apologize but trust me I'm a die hard NBA Live fan and I think the game can be great but it won't reach that level based on the AI logic not just from this demo but from preivious versions all being taken into coinsideration when i express my concerns.

Enjoy the game (Demo) fellas!

Aye, we need blocking fouls. Not necessarily on the physical play. But if on ball physical play forces the offensive player out of bounds. Used to be in ps1 versions of bball games. We def need it now.

# 1118 bls @ 09/21/09 11:55 PM
Blocking fouls are in the game.

This is still taking some time to adjust for me. You need to be pretty realistic with your passing angles or you're going to get a lot of passes stolen and rightfully so. I'm so used to 2K and only looking to see if a guy is open, not A) if I'm at a correct passing angle B) if there are any defenders in the passing lane who may steal the ball. I have to do all three in Live now, which is cool because it takes a tick longer to read but with freestyle passing you can still get the ball there in time.

Are nit-picky comments getting you down?

Had enough of playing the demo generated from earlier in the development cycle?

Is your enthusiasm waning for Live 10?

Well, I have just the thing to rejuvenate your spirits...

Go back and watch the gameplay video at the end of Mike Wang's "Shooting the Rock" blog. http://youtube.com/watch?v=q2-1rCTr0To
