Well, I didn't play last year's game, and per the thread title, I was simply giving my impression, which is that it's a cool thing.

DJ, I'm surprised you like the analog thing. I want to use the excuse that I'm too old to get the hang of that stuff, but I guess I can't use that one now.

I honestly can't get the feel of the hitting, although I think it's nice because of the clean interface.

The pitching interface is a bit of an eyesore in my opinion. I wish they'd come up with something fresh for that. In order to keep the screen clean, I've settled on classic pitching and timing hitting.

Well if I stuck with Timing, the game would've been traded for NBA 2K14. That, coming from me, says a lot about how frustrated I had grown with Timing. Analog really isn't difficult to use and it solves a lot of the issues I was having with Timing, most notably, early timing on swings. Being in control of the stride and swing allows me to fall into the sweet spot of the new timing window.

As for pitching, you can shrink the meter so it isn't as visible. I like the clean screen look, too, but at this point will sacrifice a few visual aspects for a refreshing and fun gameplay experience.

This really isn't for suggestions though. It's for peoples impressions of the current game. You could argue that you're stating an impression by saying what you'd like changed, but that's not really the point of this thread.

Oh... okay thanks

Just had CRAZY game. Same sliders as I use all the time but this time, I won 17-5!

20 hits, 4 walks(3 of them were hit by pitches, but umpire NEVER warned either team) and 5 home runs! Lawrie with 2HR and 5RBI, Bautista with 2HR and 6RBI(including a grand slam).

I had an 8 run 2nd inning!

Probably the best offensive game I've had in any baseball game I've ever played(on a hard difficulty with no cheap slider adjustments)

One thing I've noticed after two years with the new hitting engine is that there is still a complete lack of balls that drop in between the infielders and outfielders on pop up type hits. I don't know if it's because the fielders are positioned to close, the fields aren't big enough, the fielders are too fast, or the balls just don't drop right, but I rarely see it. It is something you see quite often in real life. Or balls that are close to dropping in. I feel like every ball in between the outfield and infield is easily caught or it is just a soft line drive. Does anyone else feel the same?

I hit a Grand Slam with Bautista last night. He's got 4 HR's in the first 4 games of the season and Toronto leads MLB with 13 HR's.

I think I've finally solved the timing window riddle, too. Seeing more consistent contact and not striking out as much as I was before on either the PS3 or Vita versions.

Do tell Man! Or do you not want to jinx it?

I've played MLB08-10, but hadn't played the last 2 year's versions. The biggest changes I've noticed, which are great, is better hit variety and much better error variety. It used to be that errors were rare and usually only happened on throws to 1st. Not anymore, I've even seen 5-8 errors in the outfield through 70 games.

I gave true analog a go yesterday. It does put an organic element to hitting, the problem I have is being able to lay off pitches I would normally layoff with timing, but I do realize with practice that I could overcome that. I was trying to check my swing; can't figure that out, need more practice.

Making slight adjustments to the way you normally play does freshen the game up. At this point, I need a lot of freshening.

Let me preface this post by saying I'm really enjoying this year's game...

That said, I'm sick and tired of pitchers acting like hockey goalies on every ground ball hit back up the middle. It's either a "kick save and a beauty," or a "wicked glove save" by Martin Brodeur or Jonathan Quick masquerading as a baseball pitcher. This seams to happen to me 3-4x a game, so I'm either incredibly good at hitting ball up the middle, or something needs to be tweaked.

And only occasionally are they really hurt enough to come out of the game on a hard smash off their body. The one I remember the most is a skull fracture for Trevor Rosenthal that caused him to retire in the off-season. Most the time I'm out on the play and the pitcher stays in.

Absolutely! It seems like an easy tweak. I have yet to see a pitcher pulled. The kids will be walking like his leg is hanging by a thread, then boom he's ready to go will no ill effect.

Not to pile on, but there are so many tweakables in this game. Anybody could list a good amount, but they remain. Thank goodness that I can live with all of them, none are even close to game-breakers.

Sometimes that happens to me twice in the same game! Meanwhile, I rarely see the reverse happening. Usually the ball gets by my pitcher, well, more than usually. However, CPU pitchers are for the most part, converted shortstops

I just saw for the first time that one of my players couldn't play because he had a "family issue." That was pretty cool; it made me wonder what he's going through. I think I'll give him another day or two since family always comes first .

Sure wish the rtts set up for advancement goals was refined a bit, I didn't get called up because my fielding pct was 947 instead of 950. I was told I'm not ready to move up yet I'm hitting over 400 with 35 hrs and over 110 RBIs. I know hitting is not everything but I've passed all training sets, surpassed all advancement goals all year but this one and I'm still in AA. some slight tweaks to this would be awesome for 15

Do you guys hate Pulse Pitching? The reason I ask is that I turn everything off, except the scorebug, and that gives me a clean screen (except for the pulsating target.) I have to hit select every once in a while to remember the pitches my pitchers throw since it's not on the screen, but I think that keeps me more engaged as a pitcher.

As a couple of others have mentioned, one small gripe I have is there are too many balls fielded cleanly by the pitcher. Further, too many balls actually hit the pitcher, and worse, ~85% of the balls I've hit off the pitcher end up fielded in time to throw my runner out at 1st. It's like the fielders are clairvoyant and react without a fraction of a delay and are on the ball in an instant.

I hit a line drive off a pitchers forehead once and he left the game. It's the only time I've seen a pitcher leave after getting hit, and I thought it was pretty cool.

I didn't like it in 12, only because the target gave me a headache. From what I understand the interface is better in 13, but I haven't tried it yet.

I get that hitting the pitcher routine practically every game at least one time. 99.9% of the time they get my runner going to first.
