I just picked up the show last week with my new ps3 ( my old one died back after Christmas )
I am juts flat out enjoying it, all modes in digging this year which is a change from me as Im only a franchise type guy. There is nothing better on a cool cloudy Sunday morning playing the show with a hot cup of coffee or a hot summer night with a cold beer.
I am really not that impressed with 13. Same old glitches, same old game play, still missing key factors in the game to make it "realistic"...
1. I still hear commentary errors. I was playing game 3 of my series vs. Arizona and in the intro Matt V says "welcome to the opening game of a 3 game series"
2. What is up with the trades? I have it set to force trades and so far none of my trades are going through!? It just says that the other team likes the offer as it benefits them... ok then make the trade! ugh.. then after a few games I look in pending transactions and the trade is not there anymore.
3. How many times is there going to be a dropped 3rd strike?? UNREALISTIC!
4. Started my season on "Legend" status with my players all in the mid 90's for ratings, sliders way over to the right increasing their hitting and power and I could barely score or hit the ball.. Had to drop it to the level below, I believe it is Hal of Fame, now I won 4 in a row, but not by much.
5. Walkup music... why bother? Computer plays like 5 seconds of each song and they start the music way too late.. WALK UP MUSIC... should be started immeadiately after the previous player is out.
6. Theme music for every team - Why not have the traditional music for each team already in the game? If I go to Boston, their theme music should already be part of their environment in the stadium. As of now I have to research what each teams music is and load it in myself to make it more of a home field for them. ( I play a season with the Yankees)
7. Why do I have my players heading towards the ball and then sometimes they turn in the opposite direction like I am not controlling them anymore for a second? Makes no sense.
8. Went to check a reply tonight, viewed it and then I could not get back to my game, it would not let me go back.. had to quit the game... lost all my good stats for that game.. disaster
Dont get me wrong, I still love the game but by now you would think they would have this stuff fixed. There should also be an option to update your roster when you are in a season to accomadate the real time roster and any trades or changes. I know they have updates, but if you are already in a season, you would overwrite your existing team and stats if you load an updated version of a roster? I also have myself on the team and would lose him too. Maybe I am wrong there... but thats what i thought. Any help with that, email me to [email protected] thanks
I apologize if this has already been discussed previously in the thread, but the only issue I have with the game is throwing.
Nearly every time I get a grounder the fielder either won't throw or it takes 3-4 seconds for the meter to appear which of course lets even the slowest runners reach base. I don't know it this is a glitch or if something it just wrong with my game.
I turned off the "throw cancellation" feature already so it's not that. Anyone else having this problem?

Are you preloading those throws properly? In general you need to preload well before the fielder catches the ball and make the throw.
Yes I preload correctly. It seems as if I have to wait for the player to get the ball and then throw. I used to be able to press throw as soon as the ball left the bat, but that seems to not work anymore

Try turning the Fielding Decision option to ASSIST. On AUTO, it appears that there is a delay displaying the throw meters (but the input is still registered...if you have a DualShock with runble ON you will feel a confirmation). I will look into removing the delay if possible.
Woodweaver I have fixed all of the settings accordingly. It's just something weird with the game.
That is odd. I have not seen that behavior before you mentioned it. In testing it, I found that having the FIELDING DECISION set to AUTO will result in exactly the behavior you mentioned. I just fixed that case. Now, I'm concerned there may be another case. What are your settings for:
THROWING INTERFACE
THROWING METER
THROW DECISION
THROW CANCELLING
FIELDING DECISION
Apologies as I haven't been closely following this thread, but I'll jump in and say that I had the same issues for a while,. with button accuracy throwing...
Timing that meter is just too slow, and I seemed to miss my branch point 9/10 times, especially on double plays, or on other "emergency throws, like during rundowns, caught line drives, etc...
And the end result is that it would always take quite a while to get rid of the ball.
But that's only with button accuracy throwing... I play with the throwing meter off now, and I don't have any such problems.
No problems with button accuracy here.
Loving it by the way!
I could never really master the true north/east/south/west R stick movement which resulted in too much errors on crucial moments. Especially throws to 2nd setting up a double play were more error happy than my thumb skills I'm convinced!
Anyway button accuracy really feels like it's 100% user skill based and has a good logic behind. Smaller (green) sweetspot on tougher to make plays.
Thanks for (again) giving us more ways to play this game SCEA!

OK the game has become unplayable this afternoon. The fielder's just won't throw the damn ball.
EDIT: I switched the throwing to analog and the game is working perfectly now. My game was even more screwed up than I realized (in terms of fielding) when I had it on buttons. I think it must be my controller.

LOL, a bad controller! I should have thought of that first. I confirmed that you should not be seeing your issue with your settings...and a properly working controller.
I don't know for sure if it's my controller. I still have my original one going on four years now. The rubber cover of the left analog stick ripped off last week.
When using auto fielding, the defensive alignment for Human seems to be the same for every CPU player, outfield normal and straight away, same for infield. Even with one or no outs and man on first, no double play alignment, unless I set it that way.
What troubles me more is how players play for CPU and me. I saw Andrelton Simmons make plays like Jeter in his prime, great range and jump throws. I traded for him and suddenly he no longer looks like Jeter, not even close. This was the case with the game last year and again this year. Just to make matters worse, CPU fielders with significantly less fielding attributes are quite often making plays that defy their attributes. I use auto fielding.
Don't know if it makes any difference, but I have been playing on Beginner mode with sliders on default. Just finished a series with the Giants and Brandon Belt was playing first base better than Adrian Gonzalez.
Hitting for me has not been a problem. I use Classic pitching and Timing for hitting.
The game could use a tutorial on Classic pitching, like what am I trying to accomplish with various pitch types using the button, and when used by pitchers with poor, average, and good control.
