Madden NFL 13 News Post

While most of the Madden NFL 13 news out of E3 seems to be positive, we now have something that could turn into a very big issue. Especially if you enjoy roster editing or use edited rosters created by others.

There seemed to be some confusion about edited rosters. More specifically, if edited rosters could be used in Connected Careers Mode.

I sent a few messages to Justin Dewiel, Community Manager at EA Sports earlier this afternoon and received the following responses.

Quote:
You can edit rosters outside of CC. But you can’t bring them into CC.

If you start a new CCM career after one of Donny Moore’s releases you can start with that new roster.

Basically, we have to rely on Donny Moore's roster updates, throughout the season, instead of grabbing updated rosters from the many talented roster editors out there, or simply editing on our own.

Jean Adams, Art Director for Madden NFL 13, mentioned the following, in his presentation blog, which was posted in late April.

Quote:
Mixing and matching the new NIKE uniforms, cleats, face masks, sleeves and other yet to be released gear will keep me and many gamers out there in edit player for hours.

Hmmm. I somehow doubt many gamers will be playing around much in edit player, if we can't use the edits in anything other than a Play Now session.

Josh Looman, Madden NFL 13 Senior Designer mentioned on Twitter the following glimmer of hope.

Quote:
We just ran out of time. It will be in there at some point in the future.

Does he mean Madden NFL 14 or could the Madden NFL 13 team add the editing ability in a Title Update or fix the issue before its August 28th release date? I think I speak for everyone, when I say the sooner, the better.

This may be a dumb question, but can you still change gameplay difficulty?

Yes. You can change difficulty and apply custom slider settings to CCM regardless of online / offline / singleplayer / multiplayer.

You may also apply custom quarter lengths and customize accelerated clock runoff, if you wish to play with the accelerated clock.

EA's already stated its not gonna be in 13 so its just wishful thinking now that they would put it back in because they would probly have to rewrite the whole code for game to do that.

The last bits a touch hyperbolic but your point probably holds true, no harm in wishful thinking tho
Just got to make sure they know the depth of feeling over this' be that 'squeeky wheel'

You know with the economy the way it is.Alot of people have cancelled their internet.

I wonder if they thought about people not being able to get the latest rosters?? People without internet will have to use the same rosters from day one in CC until 14.

Same here, wish the cool kids would let us play too. Isn't this the part of the movie where the nerdy kids get the slow clap and acceptance by the jocks?

So from Looman's blog it says: 'At the heart of it, Connected Careers is about connecting you and your friends, in the ultimate career mode, online or offline.' I am failing to see how we are 'connected' to our friends in offline...when we can only have one user per console...

My question is.. if downloaded roster updates are saved just like edited rosters, why cant they be imported in the same why? Could there be a way to transfer the save file to a PC and tweak it there to make it appear as though it were an update?

I might be way off here but I'm thinking CC uses a roster direct from the server or disc not via a saved file and that's why you can't enter it with a custom roster rather than the editing per se

Seems possible, although that would mean people who want to play offline are stuck with the original rosters

No I think you would use the latest online roster update online or offline as long as you were connected and signed in to the servers

If you can't get online and the game can only use either the roster on the disc, or the online roster, then people without internet or the capability of connecting to EA servers are left with the default rosters on the disc within offline CC.

We can't understand why anyone wouldn't want the ability to at least be able do so considering we were able to do it just last year. it's nice to know you have airbags in your car even if you never use them.

Highly doubtful. If you can't get the EA roster, you're left with the default rosters on the disc to use in CC. The game will more than likely have separate saves for offline and online, but the game will probably lock out any roster not provided by EA for CC no matter whether it is online or off.

I agree, I'm usually all for busting Madden's balls but this really does not bother me in the slightest.

Some people spend a lot of time into editing rosters prior to starting a franchise so that the players have proper equipment and since there are different options for equipment why would you lock that down in the first place.

Another reason to edite rosters is to fine tune ratings to where you think they should be, it's your game and you paid for it so why should you be at the mercy of someone that doesn't know your team 1/4 of how well you do.

Another reason to edite rosters is because you can actually change individual attributes across the board for all players at certain positions and it makes the game play better.

I think most people that don't care about editing just don't have a clue about how it's used and how important it is to creating another level of immersion.

I do wish the ratings were more spread out than they are now. I never noticed how many players are in the mid to high 80's or above until I did the fantasy draft.

I believe last years oening week rosters had many (upwards of 30) playres missing completely not to mention the hundreds of players removed from the game because of the 280 something limit on the FA pool as compared to the training camp update many of whom later were signed as injuries struck.
My point is not to attack donny moore but that when starting a franchise no EA roster update reflects the entire season in the same way a customised one with added CAPs can even if they were 100% reflective of the week they are issued(they aren but 99% is pretty good... If the rest of the game was that accurate to sundays we'd all be happy)

# 740 themassacre771.1 @ 06/17/12 02:18 PM
Are there going to be a bunch of random people that never have existed in the FA pool?
