Madden NFL 13 News Post

While most of the Madden NFL 13 news out of E3 seems to be positive, we now have something that could turn into a very big issue. Especially if you enjoy roster editing or use edited rosters created by others.

There seemed to be some confusion about edited rosters. More specifically, if edited rosters could be used in Connected Careers Mode.

I sent a few messages to Justin Dewiel, Community Manager at EA Sports earlier this afternoon and received the following responses.

Quote:
You can edit rosters outside of CC. But you can’t bring them into CC.

If you start a new CCM career after one of Donny Moore’s releases you can start with that new roster.

Basically, we have to rely on Donny Moore's roster updates, throughout the season, instead of grabbing updated rosters from the many talented roster editors out there, or simply editing on our own.

Jean Adams, Art Director for Madden NFL 13, mentioned the following, in his presentation blog, which was posted in late April.

Quote:
Mixing and matching the new NIKE uniforms, cleats, face masks, sleeves and other yet to be released gear will keep me and many gamers out there in edit player for hours.

Hmmm. I somehow doubt many gamers will be playing around much in edit player, if we can't use the edits in anything other than a Play Now session.

Josh Looman, Madden NFL 13 Senior Designer mentioned on Twitter the following glimmer of hope.

Quote:
We just ran out of time. It will be in there at some point in the future.

Does he mean Madden NFL 14 or could the Madden NFL 13 team add the editing ability in a Title Update or fix the issue before its August 28th release date? I think I speak for everyone, when I say the sooner, the better.

Another concern I have is will all QBs have the generic throwing motion by year 12 in CCM I think all the draft class QBs has generic throwing motion right

WRONG we wanted a game on the level of the show and nba2k and I doubt taking away stuff achieves that goal

Not an exploit because it doesn't give any one player a gameplay advantage over any other; everyone is still playing on the same difficulty.

I don't understand why they won't let you edit the drafts in offline franchise mode like in nba 2k... Oh yeah, if they did that, we could update our rosters and wouldn't have to buy NCAA or next years Madden

Brother, you need to go outside and get some fresh air. Play Madden 12 with its editing capabilities, save yourself 60 bucks this year, and wait for Madden 14 which should have editing back in. Oh and breathe!

What's realistic about being forced to play with rosters where players have the wrong numbers or equipment or in an NFL where Orakpo or Ware if traded to or signed by a 4-3 team might end up as a reserve OLB not a pro bowl type DE ?
Or I can't edit up a Victor Cruz type so he stays a scrub forever?
Maybe you don't mind an that's your right but many do, to use 'it's realistic and justification is eroneous at best

I don't know if EA will pay attention to this comment since there's quite a bit already but I have a question. Since we have to rely on the rosters that you provide will we also have to play with teams that have significant players that will be on IR ie T-Sizzle w B'more? That would really suck!!!

You can turn off pre-existing injuries so that shouldn't be a problem

Thanks! Still sucks that I can't edit... Incoming draft classes is HUGE for me! Last years Madden was a disappointment when NCAA's imports were coming in with disproportionate bodies and equipment.... But at least I could edit the equipment. I'm gonna be pissed if skill position players come in with lineman facemasks and those big *** elbow braces and I can't edit it!

Are injury sliders back this year?...also, did they ever mention formation subs being in at all?...field degredation in?

well unless the team puts them on IR they shouldnt be on it but alot of those players are expected to play this yr they should just lower them on depth chart.

I just did a fantasy draft with a friend for the first time in Madden 12 and it really made me realize just how high the players are rated in this game. It seems like the average rating isn't in the 70's and more like in the 80's.

dealbreaker, not buying another Madden until they fix this.

NFL players are top athletes, period, Donny doesn't do a perfect job, but pretty sure you'd do WORSE, if your logic is as unsound as your arguments.

"Stop giving so many players 90 plus speed."
if anything, not ENOUGH have 90 speed (i.e. Colts' Safety Bethea is an 88, should definitely be 90 or more, ran a 4.41 40 yarder)

What's broken is the OVERALL rating system, not the individual attributes, wayyy too many 90+ OVR players...

that's what I'm doing, boycotting EA... screw them, they've been getting my money since 1994, no more of this.

Let the sales drop for the 6th straight year [ http://www.thegamerslab.com/communit...ugh-years.html ] when stupid (IMHO) war games sell more and more each iteration, then maybe Madden devs will use some more common sense.

Yup, this is the least confrontational, most measured and most impactful way to get your point across. I've learned from recent EA football titles that the games are no good until the second patch, which drops in the late fall. There's always a major oversight or two or some serious tuning process that needs doing after the initial patch that makes starting a CC not quite worthwhile.

I don't know how the sales business works, especially in video games, but if gamers simply didn't buy the game until mid- to late-October, what would that say/do to EA Tiburon, the development team, and the marketing folks? I ask that genuinely.

I don't wish anyone ill, but I would really like to see what a consumer strike on the game would do. Our little community has to be a small fraction of the Madden-playing world, but even if OS folks held out a bit I bet it would get noticed.

You build this once and you never have to deal with it again and people have the flexibility to play the game anyway they chose.
@ DNMHIII. I'm in 100% full agreement with you and I completely think that your idea would eliminate a whole lot of possible worry & frustration.

Right!

Offline and Online Franchise player editing options
Name-Numbers: On/Off
Weight-Height: On/Off
Equipment: On/Off
Attributes: On/Off

Offline and Online Franchise Custom Playbook options
On/Off

You then build a Custom Playbook Lobby for online and you've fixed all the reasons why you couldn't have editing and custom playbooks. It just seems so simple to eliminate these hurdles and excuses people use for saying they don't want things because they could be exploited.
