I noticed this also. I had to increase my fielder speed from 25 to 45, and it still was a bit slow.

2k-please patch that auto fielding feel., and not letting us finish a play, that gets on my nerves. If I throw to the cut off man you should let me throw to the infielder. don t go to the next batter. come on 2k-patch this.

Its like Im not even playing.
I really want to like this game, but I'm having a hard time.

yep, i simulated the preseason and went straight to the first game of regular season. I tried this with several teams, same result. game is carrying over stats into the season opener.

Should be an easy fix, but SOMEBODY HAS TO FIX IT.

I cant believe more people are not complaining about this auto fielding .This is my biggest gripe along with a few other things. As far as the patch goes check swings seem to work well POTG works so far Arm strength seems to be hit or miss.Jaggies are diff less, but what im really noticing is the CPU is more aggressive again just like last year I have played 3 games so far

Too long to read all this, but on the first page, people talking about check swings still being called strikes...

You do know that if you check your swing but the bat goes more than half way through the swing - typically when the bat head gets parallel to the front of the plate - it's still a strike as it's counted as a swing.

Not every check swing on a ball out of the zone is going to be called a ball because of that.

Haven't experienced it because I haven't played since downloading the patch, but that is absolutely a game killer. Unacceptable. I like that the patch fixed some issues, but to create a new issue (and a major one?)..... just can't happen.

I'm going to test it for myself tomorrow, and then I guess if it's true I will be clearing my cache.

I think I might of found a way around this problem. I decided to make a new Franchise with the M's and I did not want to play spring training games. I read earlier here that there was a bug so here I am to solve a possible fix.

First thing I did was notice there was statatics as you said they would be rolled over from spring triaining. I was pretty pissed myself. So i tried something before going to the first game with stats. Go to the first OFF day before the regular season and press A to simulate to regluar season. All of sudden the stats went back to 0-0 for the pitchers. I hope this might save the game for you, cuz I did for me. Enjoy

Post Patch Impression:

Now that I might of figured out the Stat Glitch, i proceeded to the first game of the season with the M's. VS. A's. King Felix mowed down 10 batters in 10 innings. The only reason why i went 10 was it was a 1-1 tie. Ben Sheets match me alomst K for K. Pretty relaistic. I had some real battles with him throughout the game. His PC was up the in the 85-90's thru 9. i guess the manager did not want to pull him either just incase a win was in the cards. Bottom of 9th Felix gives up a triple in the gap to Coco and I'm like oh well good game. Next batter ground out 1 Out, next batter pop up to short 2 outs. Felix was pretty rattled with his PC up there to in the 90's too. Next batter 3-2 count lined drive to felix caught 3rd out. Yes, Well as I was saying Top of the 10th I decided to Warm Up my bullpen cuz felix had nothing left in the tank and I had fixed has composure and stamina earlier so no go for that. Lopez steps up first, bloop single up the gap. Sweet, So here is the great part about the story as I had subbed Griffey DH for Byrnes earlier as a pitch runner in the 8th. He comes to plate and Pay back at the Collisium for letting me go 3 years ago a 2 Run Job dead center 405 over the wall. Jumping up and down, i was excited, but i still had to play the bottom of the inning now. So I immediately brought in the DA for the close. It was close he gave up a run to make it 3-2 but striked out the batter looking for the save. Byrnes did not get player of the game, felix did with his 10 K's

Sorry to post such a long game but it was hella fun for me. I have not had that much fun in a while. To get off a good start with a game like that makes BFJOES Sliders all the cooler.
Overall there are some things that still need addressed but I think well see another patch before opening day with the other known issues resolved. Maybe.

peace

How do you clear the cache on the 360? I wanna try this and re-install everything back into the game and see if it makes a difference. Thanks

Heres my first post-patch game. Spring training game in MLB Today mode Brewers (Me) vs Royals.

Gil Meche stayed in the game until the eighth inning. The Royals had a 2-0 lead when Prince hit a 3 run bomb. Meche was pulled after the next batter (energy 37, 88 pitch count) for Bruce Chen.

The Royals went on to tie the game at 3-3 in the 9th. When the game went to extras the Royals pulled Chen for Soria, but only after Chen gave up a 2 run homer. I was pretty pleased to see 3 pitchers being. Not sure if this helps anyone but this game seemed realistic to me.

At the moment there are still some issues that makes the game unplayble to me:
  • lack of hit variety, give me infiled flies and foul balls and I'm ok
  • baserunners do not tag up on sacrifice fly situations, can anyone confirm the problem still exists postpatch?
  • fielders' cannon arms

I really hope 2K is well aware of this and working on it.

The cpu base runners tag up on fly balls vs me all the time.
And I see a ton of hit variety, using BFJ's sliders last night I had a 10 pitch AB with Votto.
I fouled off 5 straight pitches before hitting a HR while using only the contact swing.
I have also seen a lot of infield flies, J. Gomes was 0-4 for me last night with 3 IF pop outs.

I know that by using the defensive swing you can get enough foul balls, but have you experienced a 10 pitch at bat (or close to it) by the CPU? I haven't, I rarely get to a full count and have never seen a foul ball on a 3-2. That's my major gripe since I love analog pitching biu I don't feel like I'm dueling with the CPU hitter.

What about your baserunners? Mine was halfway along the base path while the ball was in air.

I still haven't seen an infield pop fly?

Happy for you anyway, enjoy the game.

Ok, first let me preface this by saying I'm a one console gamer, and by default of owning an xbox 360 I'm "stuck".

I've found ways to like this game, and make it an enjoyable experience but that hinges more on my love for baseball and the reality that I cannot afford two consoles than anything else.

JBH3 Post-Patch Impressions:

Pitcher fatigue issue - Don't know what 2K did here. It seems like nothing was changed. Why? Because I played a 14 inning game as Baltimore @ Minnesota. Got 1 run early, but then got locked in a 1-1 tie all the way into the 10th inning where Minny's SP Kevin Slowey pitched 10 innings of 1 run ball striking out 10. His pitch count was 120 pitches. For his career, using Baseball Reference.com as my reference, he's never pitched a game at the MLB level throwing more than 110 pitches and any of those such games never extended into the 10th inning.

The stamina glitch does not represent the individual pitcher on the mound. It makes them into a rubber armed, bb throwing, ace. It could be counteracted by forcing an injury upon the CPU pitcher should the CPU manager keep a fatigued pitcher out there for 10 innings and 120 pitches, but I've yet to see an in-game injury.

A new glitch I encountered occurred in the same game mentioned above and then again in a ATL @ PHI (me) game. What happened was when a batter who had previously homered came up again, the cutscene to show that last AB started, and instead of watching it I pressed "A" to get to the actual gameplay. Well the camera just sat zoomed in and locked in on the batter at the plate. The only way to get the game to resume was to bring in a new pitcher. This glitch caused me to bring in a RP that I didn't want to bring in who then gave up two hits and allowed ATL to tie the game, taking a win away from JA Happ who had recorded 8 Ks thus far, allowed only 5 hits, and 1 run through 6.2 innings pitched.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but since the living rosters update that coincided with the patch release, I have not seen one rocket arm issue. I played about 5 games post patch yesterday and not one issue with rocket arms compared to pre patch.

I am very impressed with the patch and it's made the game even more enjoyable than it was before. Keep it up 2K.

You sound frustrated JBH???
As for the glitch, many of us have seen this glitch.
All I had to do was press down on the d pad which leads you to the sub screen, dont sub just go back to game action and the game will resume. I have read about 4 different people say that is how they to got back to the game. You shouldnt need to sub out your pitcher. If anything sub out a position player dont bring in a cold pitcher.

I am frustrated. Thanks for the info on the glitch too. It never occurred to me to use the D-pad and/or sub in a defensive player. I guess since it was my pitcher that wasn't able to throw a pitch and so I assumed I worked the issue by subbing him out.

Yea...I am really frustrated though because I'm getting real tired of these buggy 2K games.

Can you check if they globally decreased the arm strength of every player?

(Can someone please sim through pre-season, and see if the stats mix into regular season? And post here?)
This isn't a post-patch issue. I 100% for sure saw this happen when I simmed the preseason in my franchise. Actually, I still haven't had time to get on and get the patch. Definitely a pre-patch issue just to be clear. Another annoying thing (that I got over) was the fact that on opening day the announcers talked about batters performances in "last night's game" and that the team has lost their last three games, etc. So, there is no preseason cutoff for stats in the records or with the announcers.

# 119 CMH @ 03/17/10 11:34 AM
Also remember that this patch was being worked on before the game was released to the community.

Any new issues that people discovered once purchasing the game weren't going to be fixed until 2K releases the 2nd patch.

It appears that they messed up on the pitcher stamina despite saying they fixed it, but it seems that everything else they promised to fix was fixed.

Perhaps the stamina issue is deeper than 2K thought and because they will be working on a second patch that aims to resolve major community issues, it's likely that 2K will use the 2nd patch to go deeper into why stamina is being reset.

# 120 rudyjuly2 @ 03/17/10 11:36 AM
I hope they fix the position player fatigue and not just the pitchers since that's done wrong as well.
