Sounds like my answer is "yes"

Has the ball morphing through other players (namely other receivers) while being thrown the ball been fixed???
I'm curious, did you see this in real time or in replays? Before the patch, I would have to replay the play to actually see the morphing of the ball through other players.

User vs user pre patch is a game of screen, drag, flat, slant..and you had to manually over commit to cut these routes off.

Ideally, Id like to mix things up manually along the trenches, and if I have a defense called that should reasonably limit the %'s of these routes being completed, can I now trust that my defenders will attempt to make the plays that they shold be in position to make.
I don't play online, but since you can only control one guy, the AI is handling the rest.

I would say that the hook zones are better. I've seen the AI control players (meaning both on my and CPU team as I play on the DL and don't switch) jump routes like drags/ins from their hook zones.

I think zone defenders are more ball aware now, especially if they have high AWR. A high AWR MLB seems like a mid-zone weapon now, and not just for making leaping INTs.

Is anyone else seeing more jumping catches from the WR? I had a throw to Harvin last night that was high and instead of him just trying to run to it over the shoulder, he jumped for the ball and came down with it for a completion and the defender ended up missing the hit on him (when into his missed tackle animation).

Heyward-Bey tried one along the sideline, had it, got hit, but lost the ball as he hit the ground.

Also the game before that Brandon Marshall made at least 3 reaching up/jumping catches in the game against him and was generally annoying.

Other times recievers go up for the ball and get hit and can't hold on.

These are all the AI controlled WR. I didn't switch to the receiver.

I'm not sure what's triggering this more often, but it seems to be happening more than I ever remember it happening before patch 2.

I'd do a pass play and it would LOOK like the receiver dropped it, so I'd do a replay up close in slow motion and see what happened, and it usually turned out that the ball would just morph directly through the hands of the receiver causing an incomplete pass.

Hell, sometimes it would morph through my receiver and into the hands of a DB causing an interception. Let me tell you how many broken controllers I have after that.

It happens.
Ok, that's what I thought. I had a questionable plays that I looked at in replay and the ball morphed through the receiver.

I remember Ian once saying that it was almost impossible to catch this happening in real time, more likely on replays.

It will be interesting to see if it's fixed. I don't have time to look at replays over and over as the game takes an hour to play w/o them.

its not fixed. It happens in replays due to them being compressed.

Well after several games, I can say that the 2nd patch in imo has improved the game I am now seeing sacks after a little slider adjustments, I have started my offline dynasty.
The game is not perfect but is at least now playable. I still see the sideline players with their jim otto jerseys, I hope they(ea) will start working on a solution for the 3-4 defense also cornerback blitz are really ineffective in the game because it takes the corners alot more time to get to the quarterback. I would like to see the corners move closer to the DE, and the safety move toward the spot vacated by the corner.
But that is for a different thread.
I have to say that patch 2 has done a good job on some of the issue we os subscribers were complaining about all I can say is enjoy the game.
360 owners it is coming just a little more patients

This is killing me too... I really really want this patch ASAP. I've been generally patient but it's been months here and with the onset of season 2 in an important online franchise I really want this show on the road so I can get used to it.

Overall, I'm thinking that I'll be able to cover other areas of the field more often than the flats every play after the patch. That'd be great.

patch makes marginal improvements if any so i wouldnt get to excited 360 owners

# 411 lbartlett_32 @ 12/08/09 10:00 PM
Hey I know this has been addressed and sorry for bringing it up again, but has anyone figured out a way to limit the amount of 2,000 yard rushers? Also what about the insane amount of sacks by CPU?

There have been others that have said they have noticed good improvements in game play, so, I guess opinions vary all over the place.

you and I must've downloaded 2 separate patches...

The gameplay, for me, has improved significantly after the 2nd patch.

But I've seen opinions of this patch from one end of the extreme to the other, and right down the middle. Opinions are definitely varying in regards to this patch.

Roadman, you don't have to look at every replay. Simply play a lot of games with a team whose receivers are not that great at catching the ball. (I play with the Bucs.) Before patch 2, in the game eventually you would see a ball travel through your receiver to be intercepted by a DB directly behind him. It is IMPOSSIBLE for this to happen unless the ball travels through the receiver. If he simply drops it, he will drop the ball in front of him or at the very least deflect the flight of the ball. Ian used carefully chosen words to try and imply it was not a problem before, (he had not himself seen it) or that (he was told) it only occurred in replays.

However, in a recent blog they came out and admitted it happened in "rare" circumstances. Well, if it happens only once a game I suppose it is rare, but it totally could affect the outcome of the game.

I will take them at their word that when I get my Xbox 360 patch 2 that this will be fixed. But it was NOT just a replay problem, due to their own admission in their blog that it was there but "rare".
Hey, thanks for the heads up. I just never seen it live, yet.

It is just so frustrating because I really thought with Looman behind the scene and what they were saying that things would be alright. Combine that with Ian saying this year they they were focusing on the "foundation" of offline franchise.

I thought it was everyone's opinion (developers and gamers) that good sims stats and end of years stats for my team's players being some what realistic would be part of a good "foundation".

I never thought we would see HoF running back and sack numbers year in and year out. Much LESS after TWO patches to make the stats better.

I mean if they could have good stats on the PS2 why can't they for the PS3? It just confuses the hell out of me. If Looman couldn't get the stats right he should have bitched and moaned to the people above him until he had the helped he needed to get it done. You don't make excuses, well the code this or code that, not enough time this or that, sorry man I don't want excuses.

I just feel let down and some what deceived. There is no excuses next year. I don't trust EA for **** and if next year's madden isn't what it should be I don't think I will by another NFL game period. I will put the money in a trust for my kid or something instead of throwing it away in to a game I don't play.

All this is coming from someone who has bought every Madden ever made every year since it was started. Some times ever more then one version (console and PC).

You guys know what we want at this point (like HC09 but for madden) - just make it happen.

Gripe over.

Hope someone's ears are open that can make this better next year or the gripe was pointless.
Give Josh Looman another year, he'll get the sim stats where they need to be (they had two years to work on stat-accuracy for NFL HeadCoach'09, so Madden'11 should be the year).

On a related note, has anyone commented on whether or not the inflated YPC/sack stats have made a noticeable impact (positive or negative) on player progression?

I should have said pre-patch 2 on the 360. CB has a PS3, I have a 360. I'm waiting like you.

Opinions on the patch are varied all over the place. From no impact to impact on game play.

I guess the best judge will be each individual.

played another great game last night in my franchise vs the Chiefs. One thing that I've noticed after 5 games post patch is how much more improved the defense is. I play on all madden and before I'd be lucky to hold teams under 30 pts with the Raiders in most cases. I've given up 20pts to the Chargers and held the Chiefs to 14 last night and all 14 came on defensive TD's.

Also, QB play seems better as I was able to generate pressure on Cassell and force him to hurry throws. Cassell finished 12 of 38 last night for a whopping 113yds. Pressure in his face from blitzes, 4 man rushes, stunts, zone blitzes, it was a thing of beauty. Just for comparison sake Rivers went I believe 18 of 26 against me for over 200 yards of offense and had less pressure than Cassell.

This game is golden imo after patch #2...simply golden. And I cannot wait to see how they build off of this next year.

All I can do is shake my head and laugh. People have been saying Madden (insert number here) should be the one for how many years now?

A couple of things I recall being mentioned/asked in this thread and I thought I would share my experience.

Someone else brought up the fact that you will no longer see players who are injured listed as doubtful, questionable, or probable, and that is correct. Asomugha was injured in preseason and at the start of the season he was listed as out for one week. He sat out week one and returned week 2 without being listed on the injury list.

Also, I believe it was asked about running backs breaking out of gang tackles, well it still happens. I had McFadden breakaway from about 4 or 5 guys last night, on his way to an 88 yard scamper for a TD. This is the only time I've seen it in 5 games post patch, but it still appears to be there.
