if you can bruh.....

And even those two are up to opinion (I happen to agree Lewis' looks better in Live thought)

But Live has a LONG way to go as far as signature style overall....its not even close imo

EDIT: didnt Kobe do mo cap? haha

its just a demo guys!!

every year live puts out a better demo, then once the game comes out everyone has a change of heart

i've hated the 2k demos every year

so all these impressions of a demo are a broken record

From mo-cap to actually putting it in the game, something happened. It doesn't look that great.

Derek Fisher is pretty terrible in 2k. Overall player movement is just bad in 2k, IMO. When I'm referring to sig styles, it isn't just releases on shots. It's their overall movement and flow compared to real life. 2k just looks stiff compared to Live, my opinion. And seeing as I'm a Fifa fanatic, I really don't like basically having the RS go to waste. I prefer how you control players with Live's scheme. I can never have too many buttons. But this isn't really meant to be one of those "fanboy" wars. I've owned every 2k game since 2k5, NBA and CHoops. Had mad fun, but burnt out. Peace!

Perhaps a dumb question, and perhaps already asked, but is it out for the PS3? If not, when?

No, not yet. We don't know for sure when but many people are speculating a Thursday demo release for PS3.

People keep saying that Kobe did mo-cap for the game. Is there any proof of that? I've not seen anything of him doing stuff with 2K besides playing 2K10 with Derrick Rose and then playing with Melo at the event.

Being an avid 2K player, the first thing i had to do was realize that this is not 2K9...After this happened, i was able to appreciate the new gameplay for what it was, GREAT. Being a hooper myself, i can appreciate the lengths 2K went to, in order to make this the most realistic basketball game to date.

I'll keep it short so i can get back to playing..lol
*The gameplay tempo is awesome, the turbo meter it a great addtion.

*Graphics are unbelievable at times, NO EXAGGERATION. Visually impressive to say the least.

*Playing D is as difficult as it should be, the Defense in 2K9 had me spoiled, its nice to have to actually watch the tv while youre playing D for a change.

*Loving the Sounds in the game, and this is without the actual gameplay announcers. The arena sounds like a real game.

*The Sig Animations are Hilariously realistic. Watch Kobe's swag in real life, and then watch him on the game. + Bynum's dunks are 100% different from Dwight's, pay attention to his extra weak 11 inch vertical. And for the record, i haven't won a tip off with his unathletic behind yet, lol.

I'll be back with more a lil later peace.
I like wat you said and totally agree i guess folks watch the nba and see bookoos of crossovers and things it is only a few players in the league that jus us crossovers when they play dwade, iverson, dwill, cp3 and etc so why would you want a juke move heavy game? I agree with some ppl when they say it is hard to controll but u gotta account for the defense infront of you. If you actually play basketball you dont run around doing countless spin moves and crossovers because you will eventually get the ball stolen. The controls are kinda stiff but at the same time Im sure once you get used to it you will agree this is better than live. Live has for the past years always had smooth crossovers but everything else sucks i was hyped for live this year but you can do the same stuff if you get in the paint on live all u have to do is throw up a layup even with contact it is prob going in but in the end i will buy the anniversary edition of 2k cuz they are the truth in basketball and rent live when i wanna play And 1 with Nba stars.

I'm quite disappointed about the demo
too slow on the fast-break, too many alley-oops, too high FG%, too much Help D (i.e. bynum helping fish on nelson with no reason and leaving D12 open), too much drive&kick (nelson had an uncontested lay-up but kicked out to lewis)

# 410 babythug23 @ 09/29/09 07:24 PM
I hope the ps3 version has the clean look and smooth play.I like the slow gameplay because last year it felt out of control. I will wait to see the ps3 demo if it is like 2k9 on ps3 i will get the 360 version. I see some of yall said it looks worst and has frame rate problems? Any of yall played the ps3 version of nba 2k9? What a mess i played Nba live last year as my nba game. 2k10 demo(360) is ten times before than the 2k9 full version on ps3. 2k10 demo looked great and played great. Maybe cause i didnt really play nba2k9 a whole lot last year.

Some of the animations, especially when a player turns...They stop and turn as if they are on a stick
This was mentioned earlier and as I went back and forth between the demo's of both games I noticed this quite a bit.

Judging by what I see in this game if they can clean up the pivoting in motion at lower speeds it'd go a long way.

I spent a few more games playing the demo and I left disappointed.

I think I have pinpointed the issue that I am having with it.

The controls are, in fact, better than 2K9. however...

The defense still feels sloppy and the game lacks flow.

The post control is more intuitive than last yet, BUT...

Posting from anywhere outside of 10 feet is almost impossible. The random animations that you slip into while trying to post makes it look even more disjointed.

My overall impression is that 2K's fluidity is due to having lengthy animation strings. This can be both good and bad. While visually, it looks nice, it often looks awkward when you find yourself branching into a brand new contextual animation that doesn't lead in well...

It leaves you feeling like you are fighting the controls; feeling like you are trying to avoid triggering a particular chain rather than executing moves...

You have to take more time to learn how to play the game...you don't know what you are doing yet.

Still has the same deficiencies I didn't like in 2k8, 2k9 and now in 2k10...Enjoy though...I'm out

CLASSIC lmao

The more I play it, the more I love it.

I saw unforced mistakes, an overhead pass by the CPU that went out of bounds and other things that I really enjoyed. This game is really all that - I love it. It's not perfect (e.g. what's up with those shooting percentages), but I love the fact that it seems smarter. I love that feeling of setting up a shot, passing the ball around or finding the open man. It's awesome.

I'm really disappointed with the demo overall, despite a few bright spots.

Bright Spots

-The graphics are smooth, and the same goes for the animations. I feel like I'm much more in control of this game as opposed to last year.

-The post game is much improved despite the fact that hook shots are almost unstoppable

Negatives

-The shooting percentages are just terrible. And as we can see from Pasta's video, it's not just the demo. Can sliders fix that? Sure. But c'mon now. 82% on All-Star!???

-What's wrong with the passing!? Time after time someone drives into the lane with a clear look at the basket, and passes it out to a guarded teammate who, of course, makes the shot because that's all I've really seen so far.

-Alley-Oops are nice, but i just saw two where Kobe stopped at the free throw line, tossed it up in the air, only to have Ron Artest charge in from three-point land, morph right through Kobe, jump, catch, and slam.

-Defense.....why play it? Not only is it very difficult to stay in front of your man, but even if you do, the CPU makes the contested shot anyway.

I been on NBA 2K since the Dreamcast days...I know EXACTLY what I'm doing.

Well...here are my impressions.

Overall - I was impressed. I mean REALLY impressed. I think for me...because I never played 2K9 (last time was 2K8 and loved it), it's fresh to me. It looks...from a graphical standpoint...impeccable. And despite no commentary...I even enjoyed the P.A. announcer and crowd chants.

Graphics - 10
Player faces are nice. I saw David Lee's face in Steve's video so I think graphics probably deserve about a 9 but because overall the game is so "shiny", I'll give it a 10.

The court looks nice. Arena looks nice. I really don't have a complaint in the graphics department. The graphics in this game are WAY better than the competition.

Gameplay - 7
Yeah. I have a huge issue with the controls in this game or lack thereof. I don't like Isomotion. And I'm not digging how they implemented momentum.

I will say the bigger players feel like they have weight to them which is why I didn't rate it lower.

Scoring in the post is easy which leads me to believe this is going to take Major slider work (and time) to fix.

Steals are done lovely.

Passes are too pin-point. And there is no head tracking . Okay so you have this pin-point lead passing but guys never turn their head around to receive the ball???

AI - 4
I could lump this with Gameplay. Although I like the off ball movement, I'm not sure if I think it's Authentic off ball movement. Just seems a bit random at times.

Something with the logic here on double teams and in general. I was using the Magic and Bynum had a mismatch in the post with Jameer guarding him. No double team came. Bynum passed the ball to Kobe who was beyond the 3 point line. Kobe shot a 3.

Then there are times when doubles seem to come automatically. I dunno...I just didn't understand it. Sliders?

---------
All in all...I really liked the games I played. I think with alot of Slider work...guys are gonna have some fun with this game.

I think alot of the disappointment I have read is due to the 2K diehards being "too used" to this game. Because I skipped a year, I'm enjoying it like a new game.

I enjoy the demo but I won't be getting the retail. If I do get it...it'll be after a price drop or guys are done doing sliders. I just get the feeling like guys are going to have to put months of time into doing sliders and playbooks here.

I also don't think each game will play out differently from what I have seen from the retail videos and the demo. The games I played seemed very similar to me. Too similar. I want different guys to dominate me in EVERY game I play. I simply don't see that happening.

I also don't see really physical play that I'm looking for. Guys do go for boards hard and such. It's just that with so many players feeling "heavy" I would expect there to be much more phyiscal stuff going on.

This looks to be a solid game though.

Second the complaints with the double team. I was guarding Howard at the top of the key, after 5 seconds of him standing there the cpu decided to double and gave up an easy dunk.

Super lame.
