I was up to bat and hit a slow roller up the 3rd base line foul. The pitcher ran over and watched the ball and didn't pick up the ball until after I ran all the way down the base line....lol. I mean he actually watched the ball for like 3 seconds looking down over it before picking it up.

Another thing is when I was in the field, they hit a sharp line drive to CF and I tried to play the hop. Only problem is when it hit the trajectory of the ball went 2 feet to my right and got passed me. They ended up with a triple.

Then my favorite, I was in the field and there was a man on second with 1 out. There was a sharp hit ball to my 3rd baseman and he jumped up and caught it. Well the guy on 2nd took off then seen me catch it, he then proceded to turn and run back to 2nd. When he turned he fell down, I then threw him out at 2nd. I have never laughed so hard at something in a baseball game before.

Overall the demo impressed me and I am not a very big fan of Baseball games.

EDIT: Also forgot to mention that there was a deep shot down the LF line that my Left Fielder just jogged to....I was so mad! The Ball ended up Fair and he got a double out of it because my Left Fielder didn't run to it and was lazy.
Another thing I forgot to mention was I hit a one hopper at the Pitcher, the ball bounced off the ground and proceded to hit the Pitcher in the head and then falls down into his glove. He then threw me out.....lol.

Just loss 1-0 in 9 innings on Legend as the Phillies........

It was an awesome game and I got out of a lot of jams. The Rays finally scored in the ninth by getting the first 2 men on. The next batter got a single that made it 1-0with a man on 1st and 3rd with 1 out. Next was a shot to 2nd. I went for 2 and pretty much decided to give up the run except the man on 3rd did not go. Then it went to a scene where the 3rd base coach was chewing the runner for not going. Next batter flew out.

(Then I did my 1,2,3 inning and the game was over )

guys, forget what I was saying about the baserunning speed to first. I realized that I was only tapping the button to throw and wasn't letting the throw meter fill up.

SCEA....all I can say is Thank You. Thank you for your hard work and love for the game of baseball. I'm so happy the SCEA is tied to baseball. I would hate to see this effort wasted on a different sport other than baseball.
My sentiments exactly. I purchased a PS3 last week in anticipation of this game. I couldn't take another year missing out on "The Show". March 3rd cannot get here fast enough. Is this normal for a 41 year old???

really? great news, thx.

1 other question: how about fielding from the pitcher? I know they come off the mound much faster to field the bunt or cover 1B, but do they field the line-drives with their gloves? you know, last year those shots would go right thru them?!

and I have recognized what the SCEA-team and the experts mentioned...it looks like most of the runs are scored via the long ball. I think that needs to be fixed or tweaked.

Played my first game this afternoon. I played as the Phillies on Legend with Guess Pitch off. First inning I sit them down one-two-three. Bottom half I get a single with Werth, only to be picked off by Kazmir (pretty deceptive move), and have Utley strike out.

Top of the second, Navarro hits a two-out double down the left-field line, and is driven home on a Bartlett double down the left-field line as well. Retired the next man and went to bottom half.

First batter is Howard, and I get a high fastball which I proceeded to park in the right-center stands. Victorino singled later in the inning, but was caught stealing to end the frame.

Top of the third was uneventful, but in the bottom half, Jimmy Rollins takes Mr. Kazmir deep off a belt high fastball to give the Phils a 2-1 lead.

Fast-forward to the top of the fourth and I'm feeling pretty nervous. First batter is Longoria, who I promptly sit down on strikes. Next is Pena, who also feels the wrath of Mr. Hamels circle-change. Then, with two outs, Matt Joyce grounds out to Utley, who fires over to Howard for the victory.

Overall, I absolutely love the demo. Everything that is new is simply amazingly pulled off. Love the new replays. Love the new animations. I simply cannot believe how much the new lighting adds to the immersion. The pitcher-batter interface is simply amazing. I can tell they put a lot of effort in to this aspect, and I applaud them for their execution.

I think the demo takes everything that made '08 amazing, and adds to, and expands upon, that greatness. I can't thank you enough SCEA. I am grateful for all the hard work and heart and soul you have put into your product. March 3rd can't get here soon enough.

Wow, the change to the bat speed has thrown me off in the 2 games I've played. I'm early on EVERYTHING! My only 2 runs came on an Ibanez HR in the first and in the 2nd game I hit a HR with Cole Hamels of all people.

The game looks great. I don't know if I'll play it as much as last year. In fact, I still want to try and finish my 08 season this month, but it is going to be tough to get around 100 games in!

Finally downloaded the demo and the game looks amazing!
The player models look horrible? Hell no!
They look 1000x better than last year.
The lighting, phenomenal.
Gameplay, awesome.
Only played one game so far and lost 2-1.
Kinda reminds me of MLB 2K7, great graphics but lacked in game play.
This is the whole package.
I cant wait get the full polished version of the game.

Aki got thrown out of the game and I got to bring someone off of the bench. I was dissapointed that beaning 10 plus guys in a row didnt result in kaz getting thrown out. I wanted to see some other wind ups.

The defense is better but I am getting way to many random errors and double plays not happening because the 2b/ss won't throw the ball

I love this game, errr, demo...

I think I know why the check swings are more difficult this year. I could be way off lol but when playing on default sliders check swinging has been more difficult than last year. If you increase the pitch speed tho, check swinging works like it did last year. I think it is because this years version of the show slows down the pitch speed from last year thats why people say its easier to see the pitches. In last years game if you pressed x too early after the pitch is released NO MATTER how lightly you pressed the x button your batter would swing. And now in this years version the ball comes slower to the plate and people are used to last years pitch speed and when they tap x to check swing the ball hasnt traveled far enough from the pitcher to check and it is a full swing. So if you increase the pitch speed about 3 clicks check swings are easier to accomplish much like last years version. IDK if that all makes sense lol but the jist of it is that you increase pitch speed to make check swinging easier lol.

I played the heck out of '08 and '09 seems like it will be even better, I cannot wait until i get my Halos to the World Series(unless I play Boston lol)

Does the umpire crew remain the same on the retail version?

Wow...just had a great 7 inning game. Hamels ended up with the win, Pedro Feliz (I think) got a walk off home run for me, it was intense. 1-0 game, both Kazmir and Hamels were filthy. So much fun.

Thanks.
I'll tell you what will be nice.
I don't think I'll have to touch one thing with the MLB players this year.
JUST MINORS!
I'm actually itchin' to get started.
Got some extra work to do...figuring out the correct option years as well as matching that to the proper potential(maybe one of these years they'll let me edit at least those two things!...you listening Big Man!)

Dude, that actually makes a lot of sense. Last year the pitch would be on you so fast that check swinging had to be quickly. And last year if you try to check swing too early your player would swing(Especially on breaking balls)

So again, good thinking.
