What is this confidence stuff? Excuse me for being so new to this series (only have the MLB 08 and 09 demos). I'm guessing it has to do with the pitch meter and how the "sweet spot" fades to just a blurry white-ish color when they're in trouble.

I agree. Even though the ball feels like it's coming in slower and you have more time, you still get fooled by the offspeed stuff. I still suck at hitting!

The window for check swings seems to be narrowed down also. I like this years batting, forces me to be patient and actually read pitches instead of swinging all over the place.

Finally got a homerun, bottom 4th with Jimmy Rollins leading off on a fastball that caught too much of the plate.

This game is amazingly real. They did an excellent job with the lighting.

The batting stances look good in my opinion. I am ecstatic about getting this game!!

Thank god someone else noticed it! - I thought it was me and my controller just being stupid

Put me off at first, im used to feeling the buttons as the 'diamond' so to speak.... then I looked at them and thought... hmm X to first, that dosent fit. Luckily I played to my instincts though, still havent won yet

Victorino got PISSED! He started yelling at the 1st base umpire, and one of his teammates tried pulling him back to stop yelling. The ump ejected him from the game. LOL! That's awesome!

Has this happened to anyone else yet?
Yeah an animation last year

this game is great but why can't you see any brick behind the batter like last year. The lighting effect is awesome but you cant see the brick at citizens park at all even when they turn the lights on.

Was awesome. Just to think this is just a demo.
Yeah, lol, saw Utley get a lecture in the dugout for chasing three bad pitches outside in a row to strike out.

I thought it was awesome the first time, very Andruw Jones like. But yeah, definitely overused. There's a good chance that a lot of animations, commentary, hell even cut scenes aren't in this demo and are reserved for the retail game. I'm hoping the foul ball animation is one of them. I mean it's cool, but like the beach balls and such... sometimes too much of a good thing, when supposedly rare, isn't that good of a thing.

I'm going to jump on again in a half hour until like 10:00 tonight. This game is pure digital crack!

Just finished my best game yet.

Couldn't do anything at the plate so i decided to give Legend a shot for fun. I actually won my first game as the Phillies 3 - 0. Hamels had 4Ks and 1 BB over 4 innings, and Utley hit the go ahead 3 run homer in the third.

In the top of the third the Rays loaded the bases with a lead off double followed by a walk and then me being stupid trying to get the lead runner at third on a sac bunt attempt.

I then got an infield ground out at home, followed by a K, and then a flyout to right.

The whole legend difficulty just felt tighter and more real than the other ones. If that makes any sense.

i'm new to operation sports and this is an awesome site! been reading bout mlb09 for about a week or two on here and decided i had to join and get in on the excitement for this game. I love baseball games and loved mlb08. needless to say, this demo is unbelievably awesome! I didnt think it could get much better from last year but man, its gonna be a great game.

One thing......i pitch from pitcher view and im stoked about being able to read the catchers signs this year. I understand the signals for the type of pitch he is calling to be thrown and if he wants to locate the pitch inside or out, but have not figured out his signal when he wants the pitch location up or down. any tips on this would be appreciated.

Go Tribe in 09!

I did have a couple cut scenes where Rays players were jawing with Hamel over pitches inside. I hit Pena and he was chirping from first base. Another time I think words were exchanged just after a close pitch inside.

It looks awesome, no doubt about that, but in the demo it's highly overused, as I rarely see guys going down on a knee in real baseball.
Hmm...well, we have 4 or 5 way foul anims for the batter 1H, down the 3b line (flipped for lefties) and I believe they play randomly. Random is just that...you might see the same one 5 times in a row, and then not see it for a while.... I will add it to the list to add more next year, however.

Does anyone else notice that the frame rate on the pitcher batter interface seems a little off? As soon as the ball is hit and im on the fielding camera everything is fine. Also it seems to correct it self in the 4th inning when the sun starts to go down.

I will just say this. You guys are scary good.

It is absolutely ridiculous how real it looks at times. March 3rd cannot come fast enough.

Unbelievable! The little things...

I have only seen the animation in 4 games thus far.

Also, if you miss the sign he throws down, forget having him call it again, because he won't do it, and you can't shake him off. Hopefully this is fixed in the full version, if not, not a huge deal, will continue to pitch the old way
Try pressing R2

3rd game on legend:

Rays 2 6 0
Phillies (me) 0 3 1

I lost the game, but it was probably the best of all 3.

Rays took an early 1-0 lead because of a throwing Error...I was able to put runners on base against Kazmir, J-Roll walked 2 times (3 BB over 4 Innings, YES!!!!!!!), another VERY REALISTIC INFIELD SINGLE by Ibanez, the best infield single I've ever seen in the show. 3rd Inning Howard up with 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd, but he struck out. In the 4th, Ibanez with the infield single, following a walk by Feliz with 0 outs. Victorino couldn't get the sac-bunt down, it went HIGH in the air and Longoria made a SPECTACULAR catch, that was stunning, never happend in 08. Ruiz grounded into a game ending DP

I gunned down Navarro, he was at first base, Madden called hit and run, Bartlett with a Double, but I was able to get Navarro at homeplate, VERY CLOSE, great new animation at homeplate. In the next at bat, Kazmir hit one to Rolling, he made a diving catch, but lost the ball on the transition, Bartlett saw that and tried to score and it was close AGAIN, but this time the runner was safe.

The field-degradation is huge, what a great feature, thanks SCEA.
