Can someone please tell me how to steal! I've read the instructions the game gives in the pause menu but i still dont understand.

I viewed some replays and I see the pitcher grips. Awesome. I got a great screen of Kazmir pitching a circle change but I am at work and can't post it. I have yet to see the over the outfielder's head hit. I have only seen 2 ropes into the gap. I've seen a couple screamers by third base to the wall. I do have an issue with the tags at bases though. three times I have seen where my player is safe by a mile whether diving into second or home, and the ump called him out. in replay, there is no tag and he is still out. Don't know if this is a collision detection thing but it is annoying when stealing. I have had a couple issues with picking my slide into second also. I have tried to side headfirst a couple times but the AI makes him slide with his feet first causing me to be out instead of safe. Yes, I have sliding on assist and not AI or whatever.

Use L2 to steal...To steal a certain base runner, point to the base he's on with the LT thumb stick and press L2...

Played my 2nd game, first full game.

Won it on a walkoff homer by Chase Utley (four full innings). It was my first run, too! The game is very realistic... it feels just like baseball. I like all the mannerisms and stuff they have. Didn't skip a cut scene, batting ritual, etc. Took about an hour, but it was worth it. Don't know if I can handle doing that for 162+ games, but I'll try!

I'm really liking this game and can't wait for the real version to drop in early March!

Push RS towards 1st base(or whatever base your player is on) then push in L2

I'm pretty sure that voids your warranty

Also, I noticed something strange. In the controls, the fielding buttons are reverse. For example, it says triangle throws to home and X throws to second. Which isn't the case.

Ok 1 game is.
The first thing I need to do is unlearn The Show 08.
I'm so used to having to swing fast to get ahead of the ball that it's killing me now as the swings in 09 are certainly faster.
Like I said earlier I haven't had trouble check swinging with certain players but some players I can't. I love that.

I'll need to (and want to) play some more but so far I'm LOVING it.
game is beautiful.

Oh I have zero framerate issues BTW.....

More to come..

That's good enough for me. Looking forward to this awesome game.

Just finished my 2nd game...this time on legend with a few sliders tweaked (Errors, contact, power lowered for me and consistency, strikes and control lowered for the CPU)

Rays 0 2 0
Phillies (me) 1 2 1

I still have yet to draw a walk, that could be a problem again, but K's, doubles and weak outs (!) are very good.

The double in that game from the rays would have been only a single in 08, that is HUGE!

CPU couldn't touch me (Hamels), only 5 baserunners (including the E) over 4 Innings.

I drew 2 walks in 4 innings in my first full game (2nd game overall). So they're definitely there, don't worry!

thanks

another impression: after my 1st Inning HR with Werth, Kazmir's confidence-bar was still very high. In 08, the cpu-pitchers confidence was basically gone after 1-2 hits/runs.

Must say that i really like the swing feed back thing (L3), it seems to be working this yr., really lets you see if you aimed the L stck before you swung (which by the way i usually haven't ).
that's my only 'gripe' too

swinging way too early on a lot of pitches...not sure why

Don't know if any of you guys saw this amazing cut scene. I was Tampa and was at the plate forgot with who. Anyway I struck out swinging at a pitch in the dirt (lol). So it gets away from the catcher but the guy didn't try to run to 1st. He gets tagged out (ball didn't get far), next thing you see is the manager chewing out the guy for not hustling to 1st. Was awesome. Just to think this is just a demo.

I think its SCEA's way of letting you see where the pitch is going.

I told myself to read where the pitch is first, and then swing... instead of just reacting and it has really helped.

Just hit a walk off with Ryan Howard, the did a cut scene to the Tampa Bay bench... Scott Kazmir throws his glove into the bench. hahaha awesome.

I think the bat speed of hitters is much faster than '08 which is a big part of it.

Just finished my first game. I hate that I have to wait to play a full game. The game play is awesome and the lighting was cool to see it go from shadows to dark. I cant freaking wait until 3-3-09. Come on already!!!
