yeah i understand it depends on height of player (DLEE has to have had one of the biggest strike zones in 08)
but the square doesnt even go up to jrolls belly in 09!

i just played a 10-inning game on this demo. took me awhile to get the hitting down so i got a run then the Phils hit a HR. i could not find any way to change my pitcher so Kaz went the whole 10 innings, 117 pitches for the 5-2 win while they put in 3 pitchers and 2 pinch hitters. gonna take me a bit to get this new hitting-timing down.

the game looks amazing and the only thing i noticed (which i'm sure they WILL fix) is that when the Phils pitching coach came out for a mound visit, he had a black face and white hands. otherwise i love it

No

...and I think there might be some sort of a signal as far as what location(up or down) the catcher wants it. I know when he flips his hand over...it's just above the knee.

One suggestion to make. Raul Ibanez should not be making diving catches. Thanks.

Ok, if there is one thing that I think may need to be tweaked is the base runner speed.

Am I the only one that feels like the runners get down the first base line too quickly, maybe a step or two too fast? I was playing the Phils and Victorino hits a solid shot to Longoria who grabs it, throws and still only gets Victorino by a step or two?

Anyone else feel the same and community guys, do you notice this in the demo or did you notice it in the later build you played?

Maybe its just me..

Victorino may not be known as a prolific base stealer...but that man FLIES.
(I can't stand him(it's a Phloppie thing right now)

When we were in SD playing, I thought there was a good sense of who was fast and who was not. For example, I hit a ball down the line with Posada and the developer watching was commenting that is was going to be a double but Posada was just rounding first and I had to hold up because he would have been gunned down. Any other runner and it was a no doubt double.

I would wait and see before doing anything.

Its not just Victorino, I used him as an example because the play had just happened. It seems there are an over-abundance of bang-bang plays at first.

I understand that not everyone is throw out by a mile and the game doesn't take into account a batter being upset and slow footing it down the paths, but I've had Hamels, Kazmir, and Navarro do the same thing. Hard hit balls right at either the SS/3B and the play ends up being almost a bang-bang play.

Again, maybe its just me. After all, I'm well on my way to killing a 12-pack of Bud Light right now.

I know one thing that thrills me though, I haven't seen a chopper hit in front of the plate that has gone into one of those looooooooooooooooong, sllllllllllllllllllllllllllow, double pumps by the catcher or pitcher, but yeah, on some of those plays at first.......I like it.
I agree 100% with this. And I'd prefer to have it the way it is now rather than everyone being thrown out like they're walking down the line.

For you community guys, are the plays at first the same in the demo as the build you played? Just curious.

Like nem said...
with certain guys...you knew you had to boogey to get them.
others....not so much boogey needed..

Ok, I just got done playing the demo. Played Legend and got smoked 8-0...lol. A couple of things I would like to say that happened to me.....

I was up to bat and hit a slow roller up the 3rd base line foul. The pitcher ran over and watched the ball and didn't pick up the ball until after I ran all the way down the base line....lol. I mean he actually watched the ball for like 3 seconds looking down over it before picking it up.

Another thing is when I was in the field, they hit a sharp line drive to CF and I tried to play the hop. Only problem is when it hit the trajectory of the ball went 2 feet to my right and got passed me. They ended up with a triple.

Then my favorite, I was in the field and there was a man on second with 1 out. There was a sharp hit ball to my 3rd baseman and he jumped up and caught it. Well the guy on 2nd took off then seen me catch it, he then proceded to turn and run back to 2nd. When he turned he fell down, I then threw him out at 2nd. I have never laughed so hard at something in a baseball game before.

Overall the demo impressed me and I am not a very big fan of Baseball games.

EDIT: Also forgot to mention that there was a deep shot down the LF line that my Left Fielder just jogged to....I was so mad! The Ball ended up Fair and he got a double out of it because my Left Fielder didn't run to it and was lazy.

Loving it so far. On Legend, lost 7-1 in 4 and then 2-1 in 6. Made one mistake pitch and Longo made me pay.

Im WAY early on pitches, just gotta tell myself to slow down.

Loving it so far. But i want to be in a season, not the same 4 innings. GIVE ME THE RETAIL VERSION!!!!!!

HOLY SMOKES!

A line-drive shot to Werth in RF, that should have been a catch, but he bobbled it in his glove and lost it when he fell to the ground. That was awesome, it did cost me a run, but that has never happend in the show before. I was a bit angry that it wasn't ruled as an E, but even in the real MLB, they don't give many E's to outfielders.

If only the 1B would commit Errors...

@countryboy: With some runners, it's close at 1B and some other ones are out by a mile. I like it when it's close (not too close), because even in real MLB, the fielders take their time when they know the runners are slow, so it's usually "close" at 1B. This is how I do it since 08, I take my time and still know I will throw out the runner.
