One thing......i pitch from pitcher view and im stoked about being able to read the catchers signs this year. I understand the signals for the type of pitch he is calling to be thrown and if he wants to locate the pitch inside or out, but have not figured out his signal when he wants the pitch location up or down. any tips on this would be appreciated.

Go Tribe in 09!
Welcome to OS man! It's the best site and community on the internet in my book.

Just out of curiosity, is it possible that we may not be seeing all 4 or 5 animations because this is only a demo? Are there some gameplay animations that are taken out to save space?

I wondered, because that might also explain some of what's been described as "jerky" movement in the demo(no, not the framerate, different topic).

I love batting from the Outfield camera. Just awesome. A little tricky, but I am getting the hang of it. I was awful with it on '08.

Oh, one HUGE negative with the demo: It's going to make the wait until March that much more difficult!

Great job SCEA. This is a fine video game (even if it's not the final build).

No worries anymore about the game being easy. I had a brain fart and forgot all-star wasn't the hardest mode (outside of legend). HOF mode is just right for me at the moment.

I do agree with Mark on the pitch calling thing. I think every pitch is called low and in to lefties or low and away to righties. However, they're pretty spot on with the type of pitches to call (and the pickoffs), which is cool.

I finally won a game on legend, 2-0. I hit a fluke triple past a diving Ibanez that drove in a run and then hit a sac fly right after. I'm going to have a lot of fun on that mode this year.

this happened in 08 the show too...

randomly players become the same height as other players. rollins somehow got taller. I don't know if anyone knows what I'm talking about. it was in mlb 08 and now it's in this demo. hopefully they get rid of that glitch. This is when they're at bat too, not just in cut scenes. sometimes though. he doesn't get taller. I sound dumb if you don't know what I'm talking about.

I noticed that the framerate or something to that nature really slows down and loses fluidity during the pitcher/batter matchup. The pitching and ball delivery weren't very smooth, making it very difficult to follow the flight of the pitch.

Did anyone notice this during the community event? I'm hoping this is a demo issue only.

By the way, hitting seems more difficult this year already, in my opinion. The only 2 homeruns I've hit through 6 games have been walkoffs with Utley on All-Star.

Some have and some have not noticed it in the demo, it was confirmed that this is not at the event version, or in the final game.

love the demo... what an improvement

my ONLY complain is that jimmy rollins' strike zone is way WAY WAY too small

While I agree with you that it is a little too present, many one tone bats have the pine tar line on the bat. If not painted on, put on with tape.

Phew! Glad to hear it. I was worried there for a second.

I've just been having so much fun with the demo, aside from the issue during pitching and batting, it's a lot better than '08. Shoot, I don't think I can ever go back to '08 now!!! Guess it's time to sell my copy.

Ok just wanted to chime in and say I love this game.
As far as the catchers calling the game, even though it looks like they are always calling low (in or out) if you hit the right trigger to "ask" them again. The location shows up and it's not always low. So is there a C sign or motion we are not seeing or noticing?
If this was already brought up I'm sorry but I'm 1 day behind.

It usually helps to extend your initial lead before you steal as well. If you do it too early the cpu pitcher will try and pick you off. Extend your lead right as the pitcher lifts his leg to throw the pitch. The press the L1 button and he's off to the races. I was terrible at baserunner before I started practicing on this demo. I've had great success swiping bags thus far.
