SCEA....all I can say is Thank You. Thank you for your hard work and love for the game of baseball. I'm so happy the SCEA is tied to baseball. I would hate to see this effort wasted on a different sport other than baseball.
My sentiments exactly. I purchased a PS3 last week in anticipation of this game. I couldn't take another year missing out on "The Show". March 3rd cannot get here fast enough. Is this normal for a 41 year old???

YES it's normal for people as young as 41...

1 other question: how about fielding from the pitcher? I know they come off the mound much faster to field the bunt or cover 1B, but do they field the line-drives with their gloves? you know, last year those shots would go right thru them?!

and I have recognized what the SCEA-team and the experts mentioned...it looks like most of the runs are scored via the long ball. I think that needs to be fixed or tweaked.

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

I finally won a game on Legend, playing as Phillies. I won 1-0 and it was a lucky game. I only had 7 hits, they had 10 but Hamels came through for me and pitched a decent game. We went 9 innings, and he had 7 K's.

Couple of things my friends:

1. On defense, I cant remember the player's name (philly player) but I was running towards a line drive hit but had to make a dive to get the out. I tried to time the dive the best I could but the problem was...he dove weird and the ball hit the ground before he got it and it was called out.

I did the replay on it VERY slowly to watch. Weird play. I still haven't figured out how to save replays...I tried hitting L3 but it didnt do anything.

2. Coach mound visits where the coach puts his hand on the pitcher's shoulder..it doesn't touch his shoulder...its a bit off of him like it's in thin air. Weird also.

I'm pretty happy for my victory on Legend..it was tough as hell.

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

Played my first game this afternoon. I played as the Phillies on Legend with Guess Pitch off. First inning I sit them down one-two-three. Bottom half I get a single with Werth, only to be picked off by Kazmir (pretty deceptive move), and have Utley strike out.

Top of the second, Navarro hits a two-out double down the left-field line, and is driven home on a Bartlett double down the left-field line as well. Retired the next man and went to bottom half.

First batter is Howard, and I get a high fastball which I proceeded to park in the right-center stands. Victorino singled later in the inning, but was caught stealing to end the frame.

Top of the third was uneventful, but in the bottom half, Jimmy Rollins takes Mr. Kazmir deep off a belt high fastball to give the Phils a 2-1 lead.

Fast-forward to the top of the fourth and I'm feeling pretty nervous. First batter is Longoria, who I promptly sit down on strikes. Next is Pena, who also feels the wrath of Mr. Hamels circle-change. Then, with two outs, Matt Joyce grounds out to Utley, who fires over to Howard for the victory.

Overall, I absolutely love the demo. Everything that is new is simply amazingly pulled off. Love the new replays. Love the new animations. I simply cannot believe how much the new lighting adds to the immersion. The pitcher-batter interface is simply amazing. I can tell they put a lot of effort in to this aspect, and I applaud them for their execution.

I think the demo takes everything that made '08 amazing, and adds to, and expands upon, that greatness. I can't thank you enough SCEA. I am grateful for all the hard work and heart and soul you have put into your product. March 3rd can't get here soon enough.

ha ha ...ughhh
4sfb up and in, changeup low and in or low and away, curve that breaks from the outer half to the lower away works fantastic. The 4sfb in on the hands works the best though. Also a 2sfb that runs in on the hands kills him. He is hitless agaisnt me. I have a little problem with iwamura, he hits double shots but its lostly becasue I challenge him too much instead of just pitching

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

Wow, the change to the bat speed has thrown me off in the 2 games I've played. I'm early on EVERYTHING! My only 2 runs came on an Ibanez HR in the first and in the 2nd game I hit a HR with Cole Hamels of all people.

The game looks great. I don't know if I'll play it as much as last year. In fact, I still want to try and finish my 08 season this month, but it is going to be tough to get around 100 games in!
