Playing this really makes me wish there was some sort of NFL/MLB/NBA/NHL game in the same vein - arcade-like, but sim at its core.

You have to go real old school but MLB Power Pros on the PS2 is in the same vein. They have more recent ones, but they're either all in Japanese or changed things too badly

How do I play different courses. I think Ive been playing the same course.
Do you just keep playing the same 9 holes or play match play against a different player?

Ive won my first 3 9 hole tournaments and beat 2 different players in match play so far.

Also how do you get the ball to spin back on the green with the irons?? Ive press down on the arrow pad, and it shows ive hit the ball low, but when it land on the green it doesnt spin back???

courses should unlock. Walk over to that "globe" thingy on the course and I think you can change courses there after you've unlocked them. I also think when you start over and click "single" player you can change courses somehere in there too. It's a big confusing at first, but you'll get it.

I freaking LOVE Power Pros... MLB Power Pros and MLB Power Pros 2008 also came out on the Wii. You can find them dirt cheap nowadays, I have seen them at Gamestop for $2 in those yellow sleeves it's pretty crazy. I still pull them out and play when the MLB season rolls around. Holding out hope that they bring it to the Switch since it's Region-Free...

You might laugh when you hear me say this, but Little League World Series Baseball 2010 is another surprisingly good Baseball game on PS3. Dead serious!

ANYWAYS! Back on track, there is a new update after the maintenance (version 1.04) but I haven't seen any details for it yet.

Overall very pleased. Still a bit disappointed there are only 7 courses. Hoping for FREE downloads down the road where we can get like 3 more. 7 won't seem like enough to me for playing over the long haul. The online is smooth and nice. Courses are pretty and load times aren't too bad. Music is still atrociously bad. I had to turn it off. I wish it was a bit easier to find people who don't lock their game room. I took me nearly 15 minutse to find a game room where they dind't lock it out to others. Eventually I made my own room and made it open to everyone, and someone popped in in 2 minutes and we were playing. Playing with 3 people seems a bit too time consuming. I made the mistake of playing with 3 players on 18 holes and it took over 2 hours. 1 on 1 is where this game shines IMO.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
Do we only have one swing mechanics? While I like the classic power meter swing, I would love more options like they did on their past games. I'd do anything to have DLC where we can download games from my favorite Hot Shots Games 3 and Fore.

Positives:
+ Graphics are pretty
+ Load times acceptable
+ Courses are well designed
+ Online is smooth. No bugs I noticed yet
+ Easy enough for newbies but difficult and deep enough for Hot Shot gurus to master. (as expected)

- Music is atrociously bad
- Is the cheese a little too much cheese?

Anyone miss the old courses from the past games? I'm a huge fan of Sakura and wish we could play on that again...

After defeating the 3 VS Characters on each Rank you will unlock a new course. The tournaments are pretty random but you will definitely play on more courses as you Rank up more.

To get the Ball to spin back you need to hold UP on the D-Pad when setting the Power and then DOWN on the D-Pad when doing your timing. If you only hold DOWN it will rarely (if ever) actually Spin back, but it will bite.

As a Hot Shots players for many years, this game is more of the same, it's great. I actually wish I had a PS4 Pro for this to play in 60fps! The first few tournaments I've been playing Serious Mode to get more points as well. It's super easy right now but I'm sure the difficulty will ramp up soon.

Nah

Rather give away for someone to use. Plus I wasn't sure if it would work since I attempted to download

Yep, you've only got one swing mechanic, the non real time, horizonal 3-click swing meter from the Stone Age... there are no real time, Advanced Swings in Everybody's Golf like there was in Hot Shots Golf: OOB, and Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational. This turned out to be a deal breaker for me

3-click classic is, and always will be, the best there is IMO...I'm 100% happy with it..simple to learn and yet difficult to master

Just wanted to chime in again how much I am enjoying this game. My daughter is about to turn 3, so I haven't truly gotten into any game in a few years. However, this one is really doing it for me.

What I really like about the beginning hours is I am purposely hitting all of my clubs, even if it means I might not score as good. Granted, I am usually 6-7 under per 9 anyway. It just feels good to try to level my clubs and improve their control. I'm trying to hit driver off the deck on some holes to get better control haha.

I hope that you guys are right and there's some ramping of course difficulty, etc for the higher levels.

Agreed. Coming from the PGA games on Sega, I have always been fond of the 3 click.

I don't mind 3-click, but it would be soooooo much better - for me - if they could make it happen in real time, while using the golfer animation as the "meter". I feel like I'm playing a turn-based, real time strategy game with the delay between the swing action and the result. IOW, it doesn't feel "live" to me with the classic 3-click interface.

Clap Hanz has already done real time 3-click swings, and did it quite well in OOB and WI. The Advanced Swing is what sold me on those games, and to leave it out of this game, four years later is mind-boggling!? I know I'm in the minority with my views on this, but that's my reality

Agreed. I honestly prefer 3-click swing over analog stick. I feel more in control

It seems on par with the other games in the Series course-wise. The first couple are easy, then there are a few wrinkles thrown in, then you get a hard one, and then you get the "Final Destination, No Items, Fox Only" course.

Side-Note: If anyone is wondering what the Max Power is (atleast for the 1W, not sure if the others are different) I have just maxed mine out.

Spoiler

Nice. Do you know if the special clubs will push that above max level? Do you know of any way to improve control with the driver other than my method of hitting it on approaches sometimes?

Does anybody know the trick to upgrading backspin? There have been quite a few times I have hit a decent shot with backspin, and it doesn't progress my ability.

One last question for now...Is there a way to judge how much draw or fade will be applied to the shot? I have been experimenting with just feel and judgment on that, but it hasn't worked out very well.
