Does anybody know the trick to upgrading backspin? There have been quite a few times I have hit a decent shot with backspin, and it doesn't progress my ability.

One last question for now...Is there a way to judge how much draw or fade will be applied to the shot? I have been experimenting with just feel and judgment on that, but it hasn't worked out very well.
The only time I have improved Control on my 1W was but driving the Green on a Par 4. I am assuming using it off the Deck would also work though.

For Backspin I am pretty sure it's just like Control where you have to be a certain distance out. I know for Control you have to be 100 Yards out if I remember correctly, so I wouldn't doubt Backspin is the same.

As far as Drawing and Fading the ball you have to think about it more like you are curving the ball onto your target. The Ball is still going to go wherever your cursor is, it's just whatever shape you're going to use to get it there.

Easiest example I can think of... If you aim down the middle of a fairway the ball will land in the middle of the fairway. If you aim in the middle of the fairway and 'draw' it the ball will travel out after contact and curve back into the middle of the fairway.

Hmm, it seems most of you guys are new to this series. This games plays exactly like the old ones dating back to PS1. Have fun.

Opinions vary.....the 1990's called and is asking for their 3-click swing back......

Granted I have not played it, but 3-click is so antiquated IMO. Played it for 20 years before analog swings came out. No going back because no one is bringing out a 3-click that is meterless. That would be challenging and immersive.

Put the swing of TGC2 with this game and get rid of the anime cartoon characters and I would buy it and a PS4 Pro in a heartbeat. Sounds like the game is otherwise very solid.

The characters looking the way they do is what makes it Hot Shots. They've actually toned down the look with this release. The other games can keep their realistic look. But I wouldn't want my Hot Shots to look any other way.

This Best Buy pre-order bonus has been a disaster, I am up to two full game codes. I would hate to be the guy who let this happen. Still not resolved.

I'm still waiting on them to fix my issue.

So frustrating

Purchased the game earlier today & love every bit of it. I've always loved the 3-click method & hope the series never strays from it. It plays so smooth & the getting around the menu's is so quick & snappy. I can now finally get to try out my bear costume I received for the playing the beta. lol

I've owned or rented every game in the Hot Shots Golf series... this game does NOT play exactly like all of the old ones; namely Hots Shots Golf: OOB and Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational. They each offered the option of a real time swing interface of various types, that allowed you to not only experience the swing in real time, it afforded the opportunity to use your golfer's animation as the mechanism for gauging your power and accuracy clicks.

In Everybody's Golf, you watch a horizontal swing meter go across the bottom of the screen, while the action on the screen is frozen. Once the blip on the meter has made it's transition governed by your clicks, the action is unfrozen and the golfer animation starts, showing you a virtual instant replay of the shot that you've already hit, in essence! That's a pretty radical difference in my book!

I want to stress to everyone that just because I'm not a fan of the non-real-time, swing meter interface of Everybody's Golf, and I'm championing the cause for the return of Advanced, real time swings, I'm in no way trying to say that the classic 3-click swing should go. I think it should stay and should be the default swing method for the game. All I want is an OPTION to play the game using a swing control method - that was already in two prior versions of the series - that I and many others preferred! I don't know why anyone should feel threatened over such an option being in the game?

You have 4 posts in this thread essentially saying the same thing.

Trust me, we KNOW what you're wanting in the game. We've heard/read you.

You, and others might, but Earl1963 doesn't seem to have glomed onto it yet; that post was for his benefit. You've also got to realize that this is now two threads merged into one, thus the doubling of my mentions of it in *this* amalgamated thread, which to your credit, on face value, does look excessive

I prefer Advanced too, but even with the meter the game is awesome and a blast to play.

Outside of this post, every post you've made in regards to this game has mentioned that the game doesn't have the advanced swing mechanic that you prefer. We understand you're disappointed its not in the game. It stinks for those who would like to use it.

But posting over and over that its not in the game and how disappointed you are that its not, grows tiresome to read.

----

Back to impressions.

Played my first tournament and won. I essentially dominated the tournament but given the quality of competition and the use of mega cups, I'm not too overly proud of my accomplishment.

Quick question, I've seen bcruise and others mention SERIOUS MODE. Where is that located to be turned on/off??

And I want a new caddy. Yuka is a bad green reader. The break will be to the left and she will say that it breaks right??

EDIT: Nevermind, I found serious mode.

Gotcha', I'll STFU about it going forth.

You find a new caddy when you reach Rank 2. The new caddy is in the home hub/area and you essentially unlock/find a new one everytime you reach a new Rank. I reached Rank 4 yesterday and unlocked/found Suzuki as my 4th caddy.

Also, you don't need to rely on caddies for info. Look at the green for the slope and look at the top of the flag for details on whether the hole is uphill or downhill.

Thanks, but I understood that about reading the greens and the slopes.

I was just making a joke about how she says the green is breaking the opposite way that it actually is.

Just so you know, I wear this exact outfit when I golf in real life
