Clap Hanz has already done real time 3-click swings, and did it quite well in OOB and WI. The Advanced Swing is what sold me on those games, and to leave it out of this game, four years later is mind-boggling!? I know I'm in the minority with my views on this, but that's my reality

I'm also baffled why they went backwards. Having more swing options was awesome

They'll usually be standing around in the main area with the Tournament Tent but sometimes they'll be just outside of it. They will be wearing the caddies "bib" or whatever it's called.

For anyone wondering when the Tournaments rotate Online it's at 5pm Pacific (8pm Eastern).

I found two in the main area by clicking "X" and talking with every character I came across. Suzuki was on the road/track. I drove the golf cart on the road/track thingy and found Suzuki standing in the middle.

I read that P2W (Pay to Win) is a huge aspect once you move up in the ranks - 7 or thereabouts and unlock custom clubs. Apparently the only way to level up those clubs is by using tickets and gems. If you do it by playing the game it will be realistically impossible and have heard that quite a few folks are paying for upgraded custom clubs online.

Once online tourneys are introduced and nothing is done to even the playing field, it will essentially lead to folks paying for clubs having a huge advantage and will simply kill off online mode.

Here's the post I cam across on neogaf and apparently quite a few others have spoken in similar vein once higher rankings are reached... Hope Sony & ClapHanz do something about it as P2W risks ruining a pretty good game.

I just beat the game, and wow... sorry for the caps but I am BEYOND ****ING PISSED.

When you beat the game and ascend to Rank 7, the game suddenly springs the entire pay-to-win structure at its core onto you suddenly. I can't even ****ing believe it. It's like winning a prize at the fair and when you leave a clown jumps out from a bush and beats you with a hammer.

So you know those clubs you've been torturously levelling up, that won't even be halfway levelled by the time you beat the game? Yeah, **** those clubs. You get a second set when you beat the game, and the way you level them up is with gems or tickets - both of which cost money. (You do not receive nearly enough gems from free roam to do this effectively at all, I think those max at 5 per day.)

One ticket or 10 gems gets you two levels. That's what I got for 10 gems. And one ticket costs 8 euros. Let's do some maths:

8 euros = 10 tickets = 20 levels
Current max levels of a normal set: 25 (distance) +15 (control) +15 (spin) +10 (back door) = 65
Therefore it'd cost 32 euro to get your custom set up to where you could be from levelling, but fortunately enough (for Clap Hanz) since your clubs are only half levelled by now it's damn tempting. You'll certainly be behind people who pay for a LONG time.

But wait, there's much more. You can level custom clubs ABOVE what you can normally level the standard set. The top distance is 300 yards for normal, but custom clubs can hit about 366. Working it out at about 4 yards per level (in distance), it looks like max custom level distance is about 40. So if they're adding 15 lvls to power, let's assume they're adding a similar amount to control and spin as well (10 lvls each), and let's be kind and say none for backdoor.
Then 40 (distance) +25 (control) +25 (spin) +10 (backdoor) = 100
That would require 50 tickets at 8 euros for 10 tickets.
8 euros *5 = 40 euros.

You know that guy who got the Condor? The world first? Yeah, he probably paid 40 dollars for a set of clubs to do that. Wow, what an achievement. You know those people setting -15 scores on nine hole courses? They probably paid a boatload for their clubs.

This is ****ing horse**** in a 40 dollar game, and I swear to god if I could ask for a refund now I would. I cannot BELIEVE they hid this **** behind the end credits, behind that awful ****ty grind they called a single player mode. The whole point of this golf is equal competition! Where your own skill determines your score!

What a crock of ****. I'll see you all back in The Golf Club 2. Sorry for the super-negative post, but I'm furious.

P2W ruins EVERY Golf game.

True that! I don't mind paid DLCs and upgrades as long as they are not mandatory and the game is not tilted in favor of folks who pay their way to the top.

Thankfully I'm stuggling at Rank 4 in single player mode so nowhere close to facing the issues mentioned but if P2W impacts online the game will be reduced to a offline multiplayer game. Hope it doesn't happen though.

Quick question folks... I noticed that the game has stopped recording my best shots (Birdies, Eagles, Albatross) for official tourneys automatically the way it used to earlier. Now either I have to use PS4's Share function to record my best shots or I lose the shot.

Does anyone know how I can re-enable the auto-video recording of best holes automatically in the game? I checked the game and I have video slots available but nothing's recorded since Aug 31 for me. I made a pretty good shot for Eagle today and assumed it was recorded but when I checked it wasn't there and same with all the good shots since the last couple of days

I'm enjoying this game but I saw the P2W insanity over the Neogaff forum and, well, if CH and/or Sony don't alter course this game is dead. What a disaster.

# 274 Stormyhog @ 09/03/17 12:42 AM
Yeah if pay to win is what it takes to compete than I'll be putting the game aside for good sooner than later. I don't mind dlc for things like courses, skins etc as that doesn't affect the games balance. Such a great game marred by greed.

Anyone know when I can get the older, black lady caddy that was in the old hot shots golf?

Yeah, the writing was on the wall for this when we saw the $40 price tag, unfortunately - that's why I'm less surprised about this than I should be. I hit rank 7 a few hours ago and it's pretty much as that post described (as far as I can tell without actually spending anything more than the 10 gems I'd collected around open courses).

It's disappointing and aggravating, but it's not going to stop me from having fun with the game - nobody really knows what the tournament structure is yet, and all you can really do right now is play one-off rounds while trying to improve your score. I'll save the real despair for when we find out the custom clubs can be used in tournament play. What will really be a shame is if the P2W trivializes the Championship tees, which bring quite a bit more challenge to some of the early courses.

I'll say this though - Imperial Garden is a TOUGH course that's going to require a lot more than bought skills in order to score well. enormous pot bunkers, extremely narrow fairways and greens that slope right down into watery dropoffs. It seems as challenging as any of the other final HSG courses I've played, and that's just on the regular tees.

The worst part of the whole thing is that it's hidden behind the endgame.

Great point...I was wondering why it was only $40. I figured they'd make the difference in revenue via periodic DLCs that I actually would be willing to get, not these microtransactions however.

Very disappointing, indeed.

# 278 bcruise @ 09/03/17 03:37 AM
Caught this on a loading screen, and it's a little more re-assuring after the awful news earlier - there's a limit to the number of times you can customize a club. That probably means that you can't max out everything - in other words, you're going to pay a price if you go all distance. So that 360 yard drive or whatever will own the early courses, but without control you'd stand no chance on the later ones - or at least I'd like to think so.

There's a lot we don't know about this yet because people are only starting to hit the endgame now. Not going to panic just yet. I'm not justifying P2W by any stretch, just want to make sure that's what this truly is.

Also, the 10 gems I had on hand gave me one level and not 2. And the levels I had gained on my clubs up to this point still matter because they're still levelling up if I use the custom ones. Club type enhances those levelled stats - no matter whether it's big air, Pinhole....or custom. So it's not "**** those clubs" as that poster said. In fact, his whole concept of the customization structure might be completely wrong if he thinks you're leveling an entire new set of clubs with those gems like you've been building levels through the game.

Is there a course similar to Crown Links from the PS3? That was a tough course.
