Just played some tiger woods 14.

While Rory is miles ahead graphically, the content in tw14 destroys Rory.

Oh how I wish these courses in TW14 would be remade for Rory:
Atlanta athletic
Crooked stick
Kiawah
Mission Hills
Muirfield
Oak hill
Pebble
Pga national
Pinehurst 2, yes please, please please please
Birkdale
County down
Melbourne
Sheshan
Spyglass
Torrey
Tpc louisiana
Valhalla

This course list in TW is amazing and I dont even have the dlc add on.

If they put all those courses in Rory in a $39 pack I would be ecstatic. Heck I would probably pay more. Having enough courses to play a proper feeling season would be huge for Rory.

Edit, the list of golf pros in the game is terrific too.

It took eight years to develop the number of courses in TW14. Give them a few more years and I think they can recreate that number again.

I realized (settings were saved!) I was using this setup besides zoom and the green grid...wow. Talk about tough!

I really like not using zoom. Trusting my overhead view and club distances. Also changing view of my stance to give me a little peak at what's ahead, huge yet rewarding challenge.

The part I'm REALLY struggling with is putting. Holy crap! I can't read these greens to save my life. Most of the time I'm good on distance, but the left to right is damn near a guess. I don't know that I'll get better at reading, not sure how it could change, tbh!

I certainly don't want to make everything, but unless I get within a couple feet, I'm 2-putting 95% of the time...

Reading greens is just to complicated for me to be consistent. In TW14 I had no problems reading greens but not with this title. Love the game nonetheless.

All my settings are identical except for green grid on

Like the competition as well but having real courses is a must have for me.

I agree.

I wish they (EA) would outline some sort of goal.

Just like they did with PGA west and Oakmont coming up.

It would be nice if they said "what we are hoping to do is over the next year get in these 5 courses (list is shown) with 1 releasing every two months and mocap these 6 golfers (list is shown)".

I mean they have some people who are thinking about getting the game waiting for it to hit the vault. If they just came out and said directly that this game won't be coming to the vault and they plan to support it by adding this specific content, people who are on the fence would have a clear picture of what EA is doing and more than likely they would go out and pick the game up.

Nobody is unhappy when a game lists what future support is planned for the title.

If they want to be super conservative just say 3 more courses are coming. As it stands now, nobody is sure what will happen after Oakmont.

You likely won't like hearing this, but putting without grids takes lots of practice as well as paying attention to how your approach shots roll out once they hit the green. Then look at how the golfers feet and putter head are oriented to the ground and you get a pretty good idea what the slope is near the impact zone. Two-putting 95% of the time sounds alot like the PGA TOUR......

I only play on default Tour Pro settings at the moment. I've only won a single tournament to this point and that was by 1 stroke. If I get better, I'll do some tweaking, but I'm good for right now.

I've never understood how you guys were able to read breaks in the green with no green grid back on Xbox lol. It would be nothing more than a guess for me.

I DO like hearing that! I don't want anything/everything to be automatic, it's just not fun. I want to be like "Wowwww, I can't believe that went right! It looked left all the way!”

I'm glad there's actually something I can work on, didn't think or really notice my golfers feet or club head, I will definitely pay attention to that.

And percentage wise...it's probably more like 98% two-putts on everything 6 ft out or more...

I find Green Grid On with No Beads is a sufficient challenge without being an exercise in frustration. Give it a try if putting becomes too easy.

PGA West brings the course total up to 17, if you count Paracel Islands and Treasure Island as courses. They don't move the meter for me, but they're there if you like that sort of thing.

I'm still in my first year in Career mode and I haven't looked ahead to see how many events are on the calendar.

Where is the calendar and how do you access it?

There isn't one.

Have had this for a month now since the before Xmas sale.

Cons:

The engine is too much for an open-world, minimal loading golf game on PS4. Just way too much flickering, some of the worst jaggies I've seen, stuttering during celebration animations, terribly low res textures (especially compared to BF4, Battlefront, Dragon Inquisition etc using the same engine).

Commentary is bugged. A lot. You can be on the second hole, hit one bad approach and hear "he has played bad all day" or "bad way to start the back 9". Or if you are quick to tee, approach, putt and finish etc, the commentary forgets where you are and by the next hole they've started talking about the previous hole strategy.

The biggest flaw is the ball placement in bunkers. You can hit it right to the top edge of the bunker, almost on the fringe and yet the game makes you play it from the centre of the pit. It's really inconsistent and just ruins the sense of realism.

Lack of options in Career Mode. At first I thought the game was intelligent and instead of letting you drive well for example over and over and pump xp points into putting or something unrelated it was giving you points into areas where you played well. But it's all predetermined and laughable. I had a no bogey, every green in regulation round and got no stat improvements. I did the same again and am given a point in short game. Really poor mode in that sense.

Massive lack of pro players to play as.

Massive lack of licensed clothing to customise your look.

2015 and no face scan option?

Pros:

Great lighting system. Teeing off at different times of day really looks and feels different.

Player models are really good and animate well.

A number of control options that all work well. The analog stick swing on all of the hardest settings works really well.

It's a golf game and as addictive as they all are. It's still fun and plays well in most areas.

My mistake on this one chops. I thought I'd read someone speaking about the calendar in the game, as if it had one. I'm not a big career mode player, as I'm still in my first season of the career mode. I see DivotMaker (thanks for weighing in Tim) set the record straight on this. I wonder if this isn't something they could add in an update at some point? It certainly sounds like something that makes sense.

No prob, I was hoping it was there and just couldn't find it.

I wish we could pull that kissing your mother-in-law line from the game. I don't know if it's a common phrase, but I've never heard it. It sounds weird as hell and he says it every round lol.

Kissing your sister I have heard.

Kissing your mother-in-law in the right circumstances could be nice.

I just started the career mode, I stink, lol. I shot +8 and missed the cut in the first tournament. I'm not even on the PGA Tour yet.
