Re: Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR Available Today - Post Your Impressions Here

Just played some tiger woods 14.

While Rory is miles ahead graphically, the content in tw14 destroys Rory.

Oh how I wish these courses in TW14 would be remade for Rory:
Atlanta athletic
Crooked stick
Kiawah
Mission Hills
Muirfield
Oak hill
Pebble
Pga national
Pinehurst 2, yes please, please please please
Birkdale
County down
Melbourne
Sheshan
Spyglass
Torrey
Tpc louisiana
Valhalla

This course list in TW is amazing and I dont even have the dlc add on.

If they put all those courses in Rory in a $39 pack I would be ecstatic. Heck I would probably pay more. Having enough courses to play a proper feeling season would be huge for Rory.

Edit, the list of golf pros in the game is terrific too.

It took eight years to develop the number of courses in TW14. Give them a few more years and I think they can recreate that number again.

I realized (settings were saved!) I was using this setup besides zoom and the green grid...wow. Talk about tough!

I really like not using zoom. Trusting my overhead view and club distances. Also changing view of my stance to give me a little peak at what's ahead, huge yet rewarding challenge.

The part I'm REALLY struggling with is putting. Holy crap! I can't read these greens to save my life. Most of the time I'm good on distance, but the left to right is damn near a guess. I don't know that I'll get better at reading, not sure how it could change, tbh!

I certainly don't want to make everything, but unless I get within a couple feet, I'm 2-putting 95% of the time...

Reading greens is just to complicated for me to be consistent. In TW14 I had no problems reading greens but not with this title. Love the game nonetheless.

All my settings are identical except for green grid on

Like the competition as well but having real courses is a must have for me.

I agree.

I wish they (EA) would outline some sort of goal.

Just like they did with PGA west and Oakmont coming up.

It would be nice if they said "what we are hoping to do is over the next year get in these 5 courses (list is shown) with 1 releasing every two months and mocap these 6 golfers (list is shown)".

I mean they have some people who are thinking about getting the game waiting for it to hit the vault. If they just came out and said directly that this game won't be coming to the vault and they plan to support it by adding this specific content, people who are on the fence would have a clear picture of what EA is doing and more than likely they would go out and pick the game up.

Nobody is unhappy when a game lists what future support is planned for the title.

If they want to be super conservative just say 3 more courses are coming. As it stands now, nobody is sure what will happen after Oakmont.

You likely won't like hearing this, but putting without grids takes lots of practice as well as paying attention to how your approach shots roll out once they hit the green. Then look at how the golfers feet and putter head are oriented to the ground and you get a pretty good idea what the slope is near the impact zone. Two-putting 95% of the time sounds alot like the PGA TOUR......

I only play on default Tour Pro settings at the moment. I've only won a single tournament to this point and that was by 1 stroke. If I get better, I'll do some tweaking, but I'm good for right now.

I've never understood how you guys were able to read breaks in the green with no green grid back on Xbox lol. It would be nothing more than a guess for me.

I DO like hearing that! I don't want anything/everything to be automatic, it's just not fun. I want to be like "Wowwww, I can't believe that went right! It looked left all the way!”

I'm glad there's actually something I can work on, didn't think or really notice my golfers feet or club head, I will definitely pay attention to that.

And percentage wise...it's probably more like 98% two-putts on everything 6 ft out or more...
