Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is being removed from all digital storefronts for PS4 and Xbox One on May 22, which is also when it'll be taken out of the EA Access free game "Vault" on Xbox One.

Yes. Discussed here a few pages back last month.

Just a matter of time for the online play shutdown.
Hard to know when on that though it would seem.

I bought this game on Amazon when I read it's being removed from the vault. It still gets played at my house, so it's worth having around moving forward. I'm glad we got at least 1 EA golf game released this generation, even though the potential was far from reached. It's a shame we didn't get at least 1 more try from them.

The graphics on the game are very impressive. It's too bad someone can't just take their base game and tweak it to make it more 'sim' over time.

See todays announcement.

I have been playing TGC2 exclusively since December till I decided to give this game a fair chance. Really not bad at all. Nice graphics and a decent swing mechanism. I actually like it better than HB's idea which once I went back to the game to play a few new offerings just felt too slow. disappointed that EA decided to bury this franchise because Rory plays a decent game of golf.

Yeah, I really like this game and felt like there was a good foundation in place to build upon. Like NCAA Football and College Hoops, another game/series I enjoyed has gone by the wayside.

Yep - Super frustrating.

There was fantastic visual and gameplay foundation to build on with Rory over time by adding content and features (which I believe was indeed the plan).

It's so amazing they canned it so early in that process. Of course sales were lagging early on. The initial release was bare bones. What did they expect?

Just so disappointing. EA can fill a sports niche that few others can simply due to their resources.

I admire HB's efforts with TGC so far, but... it's just not the same.

just curious, but it seemed like when they changed the name from tiger woods, it all seemed to go downhill from there.....this game was never given a fair chance. never got any decent DLC either. they had a decent formula from the past tiger games so i wonder what happened.

The "formula" they used for Tiger ultimately became their downfall. That "formula" was the DLC strategy they used for courses and content and users got tired of them offering free DLC on year, then you had to pay for the same content the next version.

Rory failed because users expected it to be TW 14 on Frostbite3 with even more content after 2 full years in development and it fell far short of that. If RM had been such, I think it would have been the best PGA TOUR game ever, by far.

Really!?

That is totally bizarre...

I wonder...could they have contractually just needed to "not have it available anywhere" for the release of HB's newest game, but once it released they could put Rory back online?

That's truly weird - I'd love to know more about what happened with this..

Downloaded it and enjoying it. Not perfect but good for casual gamers.

I guess some 2K/HB have a PGA licensed game out they needed to put it back up just as competition??

It worked for me. I don’t have to buy any new golf games now.

I just don’t understand why it was pulled at all… It gave one the impression that the license had fully transferred or expired or something.

I’m glad it is back though as it certainly adds value to those with vault access.

That's great! It was odd when it was taken down in the first place, but I'm glad it's back. I'll be downloading it again!

The absence of highlights makes this amusement unremarkable, best case scenario imo. Except if EA pushes some tolerable updates adding to profundity, I speculate it will be in the EA Access vault before the year is finished.

Anyone know how to turn off the shot clock in H2H mode? I ask because the other day during a match when I hit the pause button (small round button on the controller near the right JS which has the 3 horizontal lines on it) and resumed 20s later the clock indeed had stopped! I duplicated this 3x because I couldn't believe what I was seeing and each time it worked to stop my shot clock! Next time in another game it did not do this and the clock kept ticking. During the first time that this worked I notice the shot clock disappeared, whereas subsequent tries the clock would display while the game was paused. Dunno what I did to get that to work but it sure comes in handy when you have to take a leak during a game!

I didn't want to keep hijacking the other threads when talking about this game, so I did a little misdemeanor grave-digging....

What's the deal with the "attribute" system in this game? I totally forgot about it having not played it in forever, but why have "pre-set" profiles and no ability to pour XP into the attributes you want to improve? The whole system is never really explained anywhere (like much of the game in general) and sort of makes no sense.

I guess the larger question is why even have "XP" in a golf game at all? There must be some way to incorporate a progression system without resorting to assigning numbers to specific attributes...Maybe you have to go hit the range and work on specific aspects of your game? Or do speed training (a-la DeChambeau) to up your distances or something? Maybe that would turn-off too many people. I dunno. I just know "XP" seems really out of place in a sports game. If every time you completed a pass in "Madden", your "accuracy" XP went up, I would think that might be frowned upon. Although I guess I haven't played Madden in a few years, so maybe that's in the game now for all I know LOL.

I played enough with my character over the course of time to get him to 78 Overall. He hits it plenty far and I feel like bad shots are mine.
Not in love with the point system for improvement I think something like what HB implemented this year with difficulty levels works fine.

At this point I really have no clue what the point of the XP is for my created golfers.

Whatever EA and 2K do, customers will always whine and complain. Golf gamers are fussy and finicky like that.

TW08 had something very similar to the above. You were going to the driving range and putting greens to upgrade your skills against the pros. TW09, 10 and maybe 11 too, you were upgrading your skills with Coach Haney. Some customers wanted the pressure of what was going on at other place on the course and got that, others were very vocal that they hated it, it was distracting them. Dynamic weather changing during a round, same thing. EA tried that you had to play against Tiger during your rounds to pass him at #1, they were complaining it was taking too long. And most customers really hated the idea of a caddie in TW12. All great concepts asked by some customers, all rejected by a very vocal customers base.

The good news, you will be able to chose between 2K and EA soon for what you prefer.
