Career Mode PRO's:

+ I like that there is some dynamic commentary, though usually just in terms of 'He bogeyed this hole yesterday" when on the green. Otherwise normal commentary as Play Now for the most part. Still, a neat touch and I like it....just want more as we go forward.

+ They are working new release real-life courses into the schedule as they come out and you don't have to restart your career; the new course will be there for your next season's schedule.

+ You can view your golfer's stats as a whole or per season, though I would prefer a cleaner method for this rather than scrolling through each category trying to find myself.

+ You can select whether to play the four rounds for a tournament either in a fast-play format, or as complete 18 hole rounds.

+ As always, it's good fun to build up your golfer's abilities, unlock new gear and clothes, etc.

+ It's a little thing, but I really like that you can set your outfits for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Adds a nice touch of realism so you aren't wearing the same stuff each day of a tournament, and you can experiment until you hit your Lucky Sunday outfit

Career Mode CONS:

- Not enough stat tracking, and what's there isn't very clean to navigate. I would also love to see my stats for each course like in some previous editions of TW.

- No PGA calendar to see what you've done and what is coming up. My guess is they didn't have a good way to implement one since they would be adding courses as we go and those get dynamically worked in to the schedule, and maybe the calendar coding had issue with that?

- I still feel lonely out there LOL. I miss...I believe it was Tiger PGA 10....that had the dynamic updates of other golfers making significant putts elsewhere on the course, with accompanying distant cheers. That's a small touch and amazing and would make me feel like it's not just Shooter's Tour out there.

- Obviously, still need more courses but that's being worked on, and the previously linked article helps explain the work going into each course.

I'm sure there are other guys who could offer more feedback on career mode (and already have in this thread), but this is from my perspective as a long-time TW/PGA fan. Career Mode is okay and you will have fun; I guess it's just a question of where that fun will stop for you. In simple math, Career Mode doesn't quite have the legs of say TW14 because it doesn't have as many courses, nor the record-chasing aspects of winning x number of Majors and the like.

The game has a lot of promise and plays very well, and the courses are beautiful and have character. But Career Mode needs to be more robust and that will either grow with this title, or get (hopefully) upgraded in the next version of the game.
Thank you, i'm going to pick this up on my way home from work tomorrow.

After playing on the default settings to get a feel for the game, I made the move to custom settings and I've really got the game humming along now. Using 3-click method, you really have to be on your game to avoid shanking drives/irons, which I like. Guys like Dustin Johnson can bomb the ball, but the strike zone for a good swing is small, so if you miss, you are going to wind up in some deep rough. That's the risk/reward I was looking for.

Not sure why they are not implementing a PROPER creater a player in these updates.

If thats whats in store for the new retail then maybe its worth waiting til then ratehr than update the game anymore.

these courses with a very generic player made isnt fun

I agree with you Tomba. Not having it really takes a lot of personality out of the game, something it sorely needs, IMO. I really miss the Create a Golfer/Gameface functionality of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour games, which I think were at their peak between TW 10 and 12.

It's ironic that none of the current golf games have a decent create a golfer option. I would say that even Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 had a more powerful create a golfer feature than ANY golf game released since Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14.

Hoping they can add more courses to the game next year. Not enough in this one for me to spend that kind of money.

Does this game have a control scheme similar to Hot Shots Golf 3 button clicks or analog stick only?

RM has both analog and 3-click swings.

The custom settings are a great addition for 3-click. You can play casual or sim-style where the "perfect" strike point is very small and mis-hits veer far off the intended target.

So, the other day I saw on the Rory McIlroy EA Sports forums that news on an update for the game was coming soon...but now I can't access the forums anymore.

Anyone else see this?

Neither can I. They are having issues with the forums right now and had similar issues last weekend....

Well, the EA forums are working again, and this nugget was dropped in there today by one of the devs:

We are in the cert process. Probably have it out next week. I would share details but there is a blog, so I don't want to steal marketing's thunder. Once they share the blog (I have no timetable on that yet) I can talk about what is in the patch.

Hint: We messed with career and there is probably a new course.

Where is this blog?

Is it just the ea site news section which has just a handful of 2016 news posts?

# 553 MrArlingtonBeach @ 05/06/16 11:21 AM
Seems he meant that a blog is going to be posted once the update is through certification and such (as he said, there is no timetable for the blog's release). Once the blog is out, more info will be available.

Messed with career might finally be the incentive I need to drop some money on this. Looking forward to next week!

And on May 10th, it'll be available on EA Access. Which is awesome.

I just picked this up today for $16.

I haven't played a PGA Tour game since Tiger Woods '12, which had The Masters in it.

Anything cool I should know to start before I fire this game up tonight? Anything I should do right when I start?

I figure I'll just fire up a game and see what happens from there.

I would head right into the career mode. That's the only way to level up your created character and unlock equipment/apparel. Granted, the career mode is bare bones...customization is pretty weak and there isn't a ton of options to make your character look like anyone specific. But that's where most of my time has been spent with the game.

Unranked head to head online...

Is it possible for each player to pick their own swing settings? I like using the stick method, and my friend uses the 3 click. I set mine on the screen where you can pick a golfer, but it still made me use the 3 click swing.
