Yep, after exiting out I saw the other download that was going on. Didn't take too long after I posted to download, so I had access to everything.

First impressions are this game is really good. I'm actually going old-school and using the 3-click method, something I haven't done with an EA golf game in ages. Figure it'll help keep things fresh between this and the Golf Club.

Courses look great. Love that EA did a good job replicating the 16th hole at Scottsdale. Players look pretty good.

Like all golf games, still a little easy to find the fairway off the tee, but I'm not shooting 59's, so can't complain too much about that.

3-click method has a good challenge to it, especially on the greens.

I can see where people that bought this initially would've been disappointed with a bare-bones game, but EA has really added a lot to this title in the past year. I'm a fan of games (Rory, UFC) that don't release annually, but provide multiple game updates and add-ons.

I wish I had time to play this

I am very much on the fence with this game. Been playing it through EA Access and while I think the graphics are best in the genre and feel the game offers some exciting challenges and I love being able to play as Spieth. I have been unable to finish a round no matter what course and settings I am using.

I can't remember is this a bi-annual release title now or not?

How does this game play and is there enough content now that it's been awhile since release?

I'm definitely not going to buy it at $40, but had I seen the sale last week for $13 on Amazon I probably would have jumped on it.

Also wondering how the online component works now that this new patch is out.

For me personally there are not enough courses. (I know the reason doesn't change how I feel.) They will never have enough golfers but that's all comes down to budget so I'm okay with that. I like stroke play but there are a lot of options so it's not terrible in that regard.

For me the game is probably a pass but with EA Access I can say I respect the effort and think a good foundation has been laid.

Finally got a PS4 this week, and managed to get Rory McIlroy PGA Tour during the $13 sale at Amazon.

I've only just scratched the surface so far (thanks to the game taking almost 10 hours to fully install), playing the prologue, a few holes at Whistling Straits, and the first round (using Quick Rounds) of the Web.com Tour final. I like what I am seeing gameplay wise. I'm using modified custom settings, with Tour settings as my base. I'm sure I'll be tweaking it as I go. It's EA Sports golf, which I enjoy and have enjoyed for many years. No complaints in the gameplay department at this point.

Graphics are solid. Since it's my first PS4 game experience, I don't have anything to compare it to, but I'm pretty impressed by what I see in RM. Whistling Straits is beautifully recreated. Seeing it first-hand in real life at last year's PGA Championship, I was excited to see it in the game. It did not disappoint. Some clipping here and there, but nothing too distracting.

Of course, much has already been said about the lack of depth in the game - the low number of courses, licensed golfers, customization options, etc. I'm hoping the game's career mode will keep me occupied for a while, but I can already see how the lasting appeal of RM might run out in a hurry. With Oakmont still to come, there's at least another course to add to the stable. But since career mode is my go-to mode, I'm worried it will get stale.

All told, I think $13 for this game is a steal, even if the lasting appeal of RM is limited. It's a good-looking, good-playing game that fulfills my virtual golfing needs. I'll perhaps give The Golf Club a look down the road, but I have no complaints at the moment about Rory McIlroy PGA Tour.

As for the courses... there were 8 real world courses when the game shipped, and I assume that's all you get in the EA Access version still? Three or four more have been made available, free post launch. I think there is still another one or two coming in the future as well.

That puts it pretty much in line with the number of courses it's always had prior to paid DLC offerings post launch if I'm not mistaken.

Actually, I have all the courses they have added so far. EA Access is in fact the full version of the game at the time that you DL it and it also updates so I have access to all the courses that are currently available.

Oh, that's cool. Wasn't sure it would download the extra courses/content too. Good stuff.

I understand there are no plans to make this a yearly title? Over the years to come EA will continue to add courses and golfers?
No one really knows.
They have added all the courses that they promised now.
We don't really know if they are adding anything else.

To me, that says we can maybe expect more. Not much though.

Although, that could just be wishful thinking on my part.

It simply means they can't announce anything new for the game until this quarter is over. Not saying there is anything new to add due to NDA, but they can't announce any new features until they get to a new quarter......it is part of what being a publicly traded company has to deal with.....

I can understand that, working for one myself.

Still, after recently bumping up the difficulty and playing full rounds on the tour, I'm having fun with the game and love all of the real courses we have so far. They are heading in the right direction.

Pretty much junk tbh...I want to like this game but its just so shallow in the career department.

Its more fun playing as a pro against a buddy locally, but that is so rare nowadays.

It is kind of typical for a transitional game in an established franchise; just not all there, from what you are used to (if you're a Tiger vet).

Career Mode PRO's:

+ I like that there is some dynamic commentary, though usually just in terms of 'He bogeyed this hole yesterday" when on the green. Otherwise normal commentary as Play Now for the most part. Still, a neat touch and I like it....just want more as we go forward.

+ They are working new release real-life courses into the schedule as they come out and you don't have to restart your career; the new course will be there for your next season's schedule.

+ You can view your golfer's stats as a whole or per season, though I would prefer a cleaner method for this rather than scrolling through each category trying to find myself.

+ You can select whether to play the four rounds for a tournament either in a fast-play format, or as complete 18 hole rounds.

+ As always, it's good fun to build up your golfer's abilities, unlock new gear and clothes, etc.

+ It's a little thing, but I really like that you can set your outfits for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Adds a nice touch of realism so you aren't wearing the same stuff each day of a tournament, and you can experiment until you hit your Lucky Sunday outfit

Career Mode CONS:

- Not enough stat tracking, and what's there isn't very clean to navigate. I would also love to see my stats for each course like in some previous editions of TW.

- No PGA calendar to see what you've done and what is coming up. My guess is they didn't have a good way to implement one since they would be adding courses as we go and those get dynamically worked in to the schedule, and maybe the calendar coding had issue with that?

- I still feel lonely out there LOL. I miss...I believe it was Tiger PGA 10....that had the dynamic updates of other golfers making significant putts elsewhere on the course, with accompanying distant cheers. That's a small touch and amazing and would make me feel like it's not just Shooter's Tour out there.

- Obviously, still need more courses but that's being worked on, and the previously linked article helps explain the work going into each course.

I'm sure there are other guys who could offer more feedback on career mode (and already have in this thread), but this is from my perspective as a long-time TW/PGA fan. Career Mode is okay and you will have fun; I guess it's just a question of where that fun will stop for you. In simple math, Career Mode doesn't quite have the legs of say TW14 because it doesn't have as many courses, nor the record-chasing aspects of winning x number of Majors and the like.

The game has a lot of promise and plays very well, and the courses are beautiful and have character. But Career Mode needs to be more robust and that will either grow with this title, or get (hopefully) upgraded in the next version of the game.

If they still had the variety of swings you could choose from that would make things feel deeper. I liked the varieties of finesse/power swing packages and would love to see them incorporate those with some risk/reward or ratings built into the different signature swings.
