Yep, I don't mind turning off the assists but life on the pga tour is built around having more info, every bit of knowledge they have leads to lower scores.

They all strike the ball well enough that the game really is putting and who makes the fewest.

So being blind on the greens serves no purpose to me.

I know you can putt with it off, I did it. And it just felt dumb.

IRL some players have their caddies stand on the high or low side. You can use the human form to vizualize the slope. It's a little secret. Just look at shoes as the first indicator.

I was really hoping EA knew this and had the caddy staying to one side. For the first 5 holes I played after thinking to check this he stood on the lowside in the game and I was so happy. Then he didn't, then he did, then he didn't and I knew it was just random caddy placing.

Can't expect EA to know that trick.

Your choice of camera also has alot to do with being able to read the greens. While you say it feels dumb to you, I feel going gridless feels more like how it is to putt IRL, there is the element of surprise and chance. I have completed two full seasons in Career on Xbox One and PS4 and I can read the greens almost as well as with a grid on. It simply takes practice. LOTS of practice.

Dumb just in terms of this;

I am a 6.4 handicap IRL. After I hit my approach shot as I walk to the green I survey it and the land around it to get clues to what the predominant break will be.

Can't really do that in the game with zoom off. You can stare at the green before hitting your approach shot but it isn't the same because you only have 4 angles to choose from and none give you the same feedback like real life.

Once I reach the green I try to immediately sense the overall slope of my upcoming putt with my feet as I walk to mark my ball. Then I do my best to locate the fall line.

Cannot do either of these in the game for obvious reasons.

If I putt first or during any window after anyone else has putted, I would first walk to the low side of the putt, midway between ball and hole and get the best mental impression of how the ball would take the break. Then walk back to the ball and stand directly behind it and take just a few strokes to gauge distance of the line I have determined.

Can't do that in the game with zoom off.

And in before anyone comments it must be hell to play behind me, no, I can do all this extremely quickly. Once you have your pre-putt routine down it works like clockwork. And if you put this in to practice, then if you miss a putt you just missed a putt. It happens.

Back to the same thing, if you could just swivel the camera and walk the green by having the putting cams with zoom on when you reach the green with zoom toggled off, perfect!

It's kind of strange that the most videogame-y thing in a live golf broadcast is the pro tracer (which is also incredibly cool) yet it's not in Rory.

Just finished up a tournament at Lighthouse Pointe. What an awesome course. I started off horribly on day one and was working my way buck up the leaderboard the next few days. I had Speith in my crosshair going down the back nine, but I choked it away. I ended up four strokes behind and in 3rd place. I'll take it, though.

I was thinking about this today...what if you could walk to your ball after each shot?

It could be skippable with X/A or whatever.

With the frostbite engine, in battlefield and hardline I can walk anywhere I want for the most part.

It would just be so sweet to sight see just like you really do when you play golf.

I would take it in 3rd person where my caddie and I walked down the fairway. The camera could be rotated and zoomed in or out. So if you saw a cool bridge or any interesting landmark you could walk over to it and move the camera around to get a good view.

Imagine the incredible screenshots that would be posted.

A huge part of playing golf, even for the pros is taking in the surroundings.

I don't think this is asking too much. It's already there in other frostbite engine games.

As long as it's skippable, I think something like that would be really cool.

Yeah if it was added to the game it should be in the option menu.

Walk the course between each shot - on/off

If you keep it on you can choose to press X/A to skip and advance directly to your ball.

I would be so thrilled to be able to walk around once I got near the green for example and survey the landing area.

It should be just like the battlefield controls so you can slow walk all the way up to jog.

People would love to play speed golf and run between shots I am sure, it would be terrific online to see all this in real time. Players hitting shots and running.

I bet it would even become its own thing, see who can finish the fastest while scoring as low as possible.

Picturing players hitting their shots and then taking off in a sprint down the course just made me laugh so hard. Lmao.

Exactly!

And you know you would be standing there about to hit an 8 iron into the green and see someone race by to get to the green first!

Online golf should be fun like this.

And same goes for online, make it an option in the online match setup.

Walk the course between each shot - on/off for online too.

I would imagine quite a few people would end up just walking the courses together too, exploring.

Wow, going to make it even cooler.

Say you and your friend are walking the course together online. You can pick a point and initiate a closest to the pin challenge.

Now we could add a horse type mode to online where you could wander around the course like a playground and choose cool shots to hit and closest wins and you move to the next shot.

This! Great idea

Ok it gets even better!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure what the max lobby size is, but picture this...

Say you can make 20 player lobbies. All 20 hit their opening tee shots, then everyone goes exploring.

You can send "signals" to your group you are playing with.

You can tag objects as sight seeing spots. It then pops up in a list and anyone in the party can warp to the spot and have a look themselves.

You can place spot challenges. Also appears in a list. You can warp to the location and participate in the challenge. Take it past just closest to the pin and add in stroke challenges, so say you pick a spot in a bunker and the objective is to get up and down (2 strokes). Drop a spot on the tee box and it becomes a par or birdie the hole challenge.

I would say in 10-15 minutes you would have enough site seeing and shot challenges to comfortably enjoy hours worth of fun on the course.

A side topic to this, golf is a hard enough sport on it's own that only like .009% of the population has the skill to master so I have always wondered why no game incorporates some of the fun elements people have come up with over the history of golf;

snow golf
speed golf
larger holes
one club or limited bag rounds
Cross country, this game engine is screaming for this mode. You start on 1 and hole out on 18. Not every course accepts this way to play e.g, a course with great distances between green and next tee. But a course that allows you access to the next hole from the previous hole, oh man is this fun to do.

Here is another missed opportunity that could easily be fixed.

There is night golf in Rory.

But why can't I play Sawgrass at night? or any course in the game?

EA could light these course and it would look outstanding. Is it real? no.

Would it be amazing? Oh yes.

Have a look at some photos of this Faldo course in Dubai that has night golf.

I bought it at launch, but traded it in.

Not sure how the sales are looking but I've been hoping it makes its way to Access sooner than later. When you look at other big name games: Fifa, Madden, NHL; they all dropped on Access 5-6 months after release.

However, if this isn't a yearly title (have plans changed?) And they're still releasing courses, you're probably right. It won't be any time soon.

So, you guys still playing, has there been significant improvements since release making this worth another purchase? Golf season is creeping on us, see Masters commercials on ESPN, and it's about time to scratch that itch.

So I need my PS4 golf fix and just saw Gamestop has this game for $39.99 now.
Couple of questions.
1. How many playable courses are there now?
2. In season or career mode how many yearly events are there?

Sales are approaching 600K combined PS4/Xbox One according to VGChartz. About 400K more copies than I thought they would sell at launch.

http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name...=0&results=200

The other EA titles are yearly titles. RM was positioned at the start as a NON-yearly title. They are continuing to add courses and content with a new unannounced feature coming very soon as well as Oakmont. I hardly think they are planning to put this game in the vault with new gameplay features and courses still coming. Beyond this new feature and Oakmont will be telling as to the game's near future. I look for them to announce their continuing plans after this feature and Oakmont are released.

First, I think you can still get the game for $16 in the Playstation Store online. I know that's what I paid for it a little over three weeks ago.

PGA West brings the course total up to 17, if you count Paracel Islands and Treasure Island as courses. They don't move the meter for me, but they're there if you like that sort of thing.

I'm still in my first year in Career mode and I haven't looked ahead to see how many events are on the calendar.

Picking this up used at BB for $26! Any tips to difficulty settings? I forget what I'd used before, but I'm looking for some challenge here to keep things fresh.
