That being said it's great that people can turn the grid off and enjoy the game the way they want. Options are a wonderful thing.
If the greens weren't able to be read without grids, there would be no option to turn them off. Like anything else it takes practice and patience. About once a round now I am sinking a 20-30 foot putt that I read correctly and it is far more fun to me than putting with a grid. Putting grids feel like training wheels to me in both RM and TGC. And I refuse to engage in "simulation" discussions any longer because there are differing opinions with virtually everyone who has an opinion, so reaching any sort of consensus on what constitutes a "simulation" is moot, IMO. Play what you like and like what you play.....

That being said I'll give no grid a try again on RM as I've only tried it once figuring it would be the same as TGC. I didn't like it at all on TGC .... not one bit.
Agree to disagree.....grids take ALL of the guesswork out of putting, so having played video game Golf for 25 years, I can call grids "training wheels". Sorry you feel differently.

Tim, your elitist attitude is really off-putting at times. You can't say "agree to disagree" then make a condescending remark towards someone saying the way they are playing is like using training wheels.

Do you not see how crappy that is? You ask others to post more maturely towards EA all the time but often times don't practice that in response to others.

We all know your experience as you like to constantly remind everyone. Experience means nothing towards maturely posting towards others.

I'm not saying this as a moderator so report it if you wish to other mods. I'm saying this as a fellow golf fan and poster on this website.

I'm still having fun since day one. Sure there are flaws like quantity and customization. But it's fun!!

@keirik: maybe I have a weird face but I could create a character that looks like me!

Fair enough. I have an opinion about videogame Golf. I am not an elitist of any sort. I did not call anyone a name. However, if I am pissing people off, I'll bow out of this forum and keep my comments to myself.

Good Day.

You're a very valued member of this forum and are welcome to your opinion of all games. I just don't think you realize how you come off at times nor do I think it's intended.

Then it is a good time to hit the road, dontcha think? It is never my intent to piss people off and when I do, I can take a hint. Take care and good luck with the forum.

Lol, okay then.

It wasn't a hint, it was advice. Look back at some of your posts and really ask yourself how you would take to someone responding to yourself in a similar manner.

You made your point, okay? I'm done here.

Take Care.....

Divot, no need to leave man, I enjoy your posts.

As far as Khelis (as much as me and him butt heads from time to time), he means well in his posts but maybe he's coming off unintended (could've used a better word than elitist, I think) like he was suggesting you are and you took offense (which I can assure he didn't mean to)

The Internet is such a hard place to fully understand the intent of someone. We are all from different areas as well. Don't let misunderstandings take you away from a wonderful forum, I'd hate that.

I really need to stop being so impatient. I don't know how many times I've ruined a good hole because I am trying to push X to skip a scene and end up starting my fricken swing meter!!! Call me frustrated!!!

I have just played the mid season Classic at Lighthouse point on three click with hardest options but with green grid on. Playing harder doesn't mask the fact that either Ea cocked up with the Ai or deliberately made it the way it is so everyone can win easily.
On round 1 the conditions were hard and I shot level par. The leader shot minus 9. I knew from experience what was coming, the next round the conditions were benign and I shot minus 9. The leaders were at minus 10. Next round I deliberately played a bad round and shot level par. Surprise surprise even though the wind was almost non existent all of the leaders also shot around par and I finished one behind. So onto to the last round and once again conditions were benign as is always the case on final rounds in career mode.
Even though I was joint leader I didn't go out last. That's another childish programming error. The leader, Na went to minus 12, so I deliberately dropped a shot and as expected Na started moving backward so he was only minus 8 after 8. By this time I was minus 12. I finished on minus 18 and Won by ten shots.
What an appalling waste of my time. After the first round the leader shot minus 9 in difficult conditions and then after three more rounds of benign conditions the scores went backwards. This happens in every tournament and I've had enough. It's pointless playing. Yes I can make it harder by turning off the green grid but that makes it silly as the contours can't all be read properly. This does not change the fact that the AI is truly terrible. Either it's deliberate or bad programming. I realise that many people just want to win these days without trying etc. I don't understand that.
But for those of us who want a challenge then this games gives none. Can EA explain why the AI is the way it is. I suspect they don't care and I won't be changed. Changing the level it plays at will not change the way it plays. The fact that computer players don't play like proper player is a significant distraction. The original pga mega drive drive from over 20 years ago had better AI than this pile of rubbish.
Sadly I bought is game on own so I can't even turn it into a coaster.
I just sold mine for $42 on eBay last night...been playing TGC too much, and at this point I don't even want to boot up RMPGAT. Basically paid ~$10 for a 3-week rental.

I may pick it back up down the line once EA proves it's going to support this game the way they should. And if they don't, I'll be glad I got rid of it when I did and recouped most of my $.

Now to put this $ towards FIFA, arguably the best title EA puts out.

Downloaded the "Patch" and played the final round of The Players Championship and shot +1

Conditions were 3-5 mph winds and I missed more than 50% of the fairways. I'm concerned that if the wind was blowing right to left my ball on some holes blew the opposite direction. Could of been a fluke but I noticed it on several hole.

I play on the toughest settings and no grid greens. The new patch has no doubt has lowered the accuracy off the tee and with my iron shots. For the challenge just got harder. Now add some features and courses

So now I'm getting ready to play the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay with 6-9 mph winds. No way I should go low.

When did this patch come out? What does it change?

Any idea if when new courses are added they will be added to the career mode without a restart?

I just picked the game up got it for $30 off ebay on a buy it now free ship, pretty darn cheap to try. So far I like it, I am average at golf games I would say so even on tour I get a good challenge, at least while I’m new to the title and my golfer is not highly rated. I shot +3 in the first tournament and after 1 round of the 2nd tourney I’m -5. It’s a far easier course the green are quite flat. Seems putting is where I’m leaving my strokes right now. I think long term TGC is more of a challenge but some of that is a result of never knowing what exactly your hitting as it has less feel to understand your distance. I am enjoying this game thus far, I just hope when my character is able to hit further I’m not scoring eagles and birdies.

Supposedly it fixed over a 150 bugs/issues. As a consumer I'm concerned that I bought a game that needed this much addressed with the first patch. EA just told me this game was not ready to be released.

I'm just keeping hope that they continue to support this title and at some point come out and give us a heads up on what the future holds in more detail.

Do new courses get placed in existing career modes? Or must we restart to see them appear in career?

I have no idea. You might want to head over to EA Golf forums to see if those questions can be answered.

In sports games I only play offline career modes. Is this game worth it for that?
I am not worried about the low amount of player creation tools.

What concerns me is if it looks good, plays well and has enough courses to make a career fun.

Any advice or opinions on if this is currently worth it for an offline career mode player?

Thanks in advance

Not sure exact date of when, but recently.

The new course will be added to career when you reach the date it is on. This is according to the EA Sports guy on twitter.
