No one has ever shot a 63 in a major, so Jordan beats that by at least 3 strokes (assuming it's a par 72 course).

Come on EA Sports. Get it together!

No one has scored in the low 50's IRL, but you can do it in RM in arcade mode as well as TGC....they are both VIDEO GAMES. They are not Golf simulations.

The one thing that is KILLING it for me though is AI scoring in career. I know it's been mentioned but my goodness. I'm playing the Spring Invitational in season 2. After round 1 I was at -6. Leader was at -7. Fast forward to Sunday. Heading into the final round I'm -19 and second place is -5. Seriously? The wind dropped to basically nothing days two and three and scoring TANKS. And it happens in every single tournament. Big numbers day one, then everyone goes backwards while I win by 15-30 shots.

If they don't add an option to increase AI scoring or patch the scoring system as it is now, career mode won't get touched. Right now I'm just going through the motions to unlock everything but once that's done its online tournaments only.
they need to add a dynamic difficulty that adjusts based your average score. If you want to play on classic mode and shoot -20 every round, the CPU will shoot the same

Anyone in here trying to pass all the night club challenges?! I do it on pro level like I play my PGA tour. This mode is ok, but nothing special. I enjoy a "regular" round of golf much more but it brings some variety to the table.

Just won the Open at St Andrews...at -45 for the tournament. Next closest was -12, lol.

This is on the hardest difficulty, minus the green grid being turned off and being able to zoom.

Well I'm glad someone has seen some competition. Funny story.. I put The Players on quick rounds because I was anxious to get to the U.S. Open.. It gave me 4 holes only for the 3 rounds and 6 for the final round. I figured on quick rounds I'd have less time to score and it would keep it close. This time Martin Kaymer shot -6 round 1. He was -9 round after two. -17 after 3. -19 final total. Effectively giving me no chance since I only had 18 holes total to work with. I can't win with this I guess.

What i don't get is how does this game take away so much of the customization aspects previous ones had? I cant actually create a golfer that looks like me, just some presets? I can't actually customize the style of clothing, just like 15 versions of a polo and 15 version of the same pants? No Payne Stewart style clothing or anything? That's pretty inexcusable to me. We aren't talking about a game where there are tons of people on the screen at one time. It's one. Me. No one else. Why can't it be really customized like they had in the game 5 freaking years ago?

Something had to be taken out so they could put all those animations in.

Real knee slapper.

But thank god they were able to model that one fictional golfer in like the Ghille suit for play

Hadn't got to touch this again since release day sadly but just fired up a round at Sawgrass.

I don't understand the ease some are suggesting. My iron shots were going left and right like crazy.

I forgot how well commentary is in the game. Really really immersive and great foundation to build on.

Once this gets some patches and updates to content, this is gonna be a good little gem.

It really is a killer. Not to mention, I continually have to tell my 3 and 5 year old boys that we don't act like that. It's embarrassing.

The actual golf in this game is very good. I've seen people complain about the putting, but I like it. Is it a bit to easy to "hop" it over the cup? Probably, but I'd much rather they keep it as is - it's nice to feel that tension sitting over a putt, much like real life. And to whomever shot -45 in a 72 hole tourney, do that with 3 click on hard/advanced with the aids off. You can't honestly take your score seriously with zoom on (regardless of the rest of your settings), so why post it in the impressions thread?

They absolutely need to fix the garbage celebrations, create-a-golfer, add more courses, and do something with the pro career to help with immersion between rounds/end of season; but the game on the course with 3-click is excellent imo.

bubbaman11, the biggest draw for me in a golf game is how proportional and how fluidly kinesthetic the swing interface feels. The current swing interface in RMPGAT feels "twitchy" to me right now, including the putting. I wish I could get into 3-click play because it seems that's where RM's best play challenge lies, but I haven't been able to enjoy 3-click since I got my first taste of a well done thumbstick swing in Links 2004 on the original XBox. I tried it during Early Access on the XB1 version of RM, and I'm sorry, I just don't like watching meters during gameplay.

I'll be totally shocked and sorely disappointed if they don't provide an option to turn off the ridiculous post-shot animations in the first update next week. Criticism of that non-optional "feature" has been the most consistently aired complaint I've heard. The career mode needs some help in making it feel like an event involving other players. Why they wouldn't let you play career mode rounds with other featured pros is a bit peculiar to me. I think it would help sell the competitive nature better if they would allow it as an option.

Something significant has got to happen in the analog interface department to get me onboard with this game. I suspect it will be several iterations before they get close to what I'm after, if ever. I'm also curious to see if the option to turn off the tempo "green light/red light" meter during the swing. That annoys the heck out of me, and actually turned out to be more of a hinderance than an aid!

I can't take my score seriously and post my "impression" because I played with one or more settings on default? Got it. Having zoom on (to me) is the equivalent to having played a course in real-life several times and knowing it's ins and outs, so why is it considered as big of an advantage or "cheat" as some people make it out to be?

Even with the zoom feature off, how much worse can my score get? Even if you took away 10-15 or even 20 strokes, I still win that tournament by 9-10 strokes.

3-click just takes every bit of feel out of the game for me...I'd rather sacrifice lower scores for increased feel. But that's just me.

I actually like them. They crack me up, especially with the facial expressions.

I do play video games to have "fun" after all.

HOWEVER, there needs to be an off switch for those who don't want them.

They've had OFF switches in the past for this very thing... why there isn't one now defies explanation!? For folks that like them - fine - let them stay on, but I find them embarrassing AND an unnecessary waste of time! In the end, it tells me how little consideration went into the final decision making process with this game.... I'm just in shock at the condition in which this game was delivered as *complete*... SMH (sigh)

No one here called zoom a "cheat". It's more like playing on rookie. You can justify it all you'd like, but there's nothing realistic about shooting 45 under in any PGA event.
Listen, to each his own. You can easily make the game play more realistic (frustratingly so, in fact). But I think it's fair to say realism isn't what you're after, so...kudos to you sir and your -45.

# 399 BevoXIII @ 08/07/15 04:12 PM
So I'm playing Tour Mode, and my created golfer is an overall 83 in career mode. I just had a new attribute bonus added, and I went to check it out. I usually play Go For the Green, but after browsing through the list and backing out to the main menu all the putting attributes, short, mid, long, putting stroke are now all at 100. When I level up and the game randomly adds upgrades it will occasionally add to my putting even thought it's maxed out. Anyone see this, and if so have a solution? Thanks!

If realism is what I was after, I'd want the settings to be where I was shooting 90+ each round and breaking 90 on a great day...so no, realism isn't quite what I'm after if we're being true to the definition.

Not attempting to justify the zoom, I'm just saying it doesn't make as big of a difference as some think it does. Shooting anywhere from -25 to -35 in a PGA event had I turned the zoom off also isn't realistic...especially in my "Pro" golfer's 3rd or so event on Tour ever. -25 or better has only been accomplished 6 times in the past 5 years on Tour.

I know what you're thinking -- turn the green grids off. That along with the zoom are the only features I don't have on the hardest setting according to board consensus (along with the 3-click swing, which we've also discussed). And like others have said, turning the grids off just isn't realistic either because it's still more difficult to read the greens on a screen than in real life. Even on next-gen, they don't have the amount of detail you need to be able to accurately read a green on sight alone.

But like you said, to each their own.
