Watched bits and pieces, but didn't see anyone run a single play (????) and didn't get to see how they have set up play calling this year. Is that in there and I just missed it, or somewhere else to see?
It's a valid theory, but do you guys REALLY believe the D-League theme was removed from the MyCareer mode because it wasn't done well or authentic.
No offense but: HAH!!!
Let me be clear: I WANTED that experience. The problem is, Little Johnnie wanted to be a superstar *NBA* player immediately! They didn't want to the grind or the building and developing of their player. They wanted to be Kobe Bryant, young phenom playing against the stars of the NBA.
Again, I'm with you! I wanted to EARN my stardom. I wanted the challenge of getting there and getting better and creating my story as I rise to hopeful super-stardom. But the casual fan, outnumbering us by a ****load, wanted something else.
So what am I saying - even if it was done perfectly, people would have still bitched for a change. Sorry. That's what I believe.
My response to Rashidi was actually a counter to his assertion that the removal of D-League was due to NBA 2K not being able to justify its licensing because there was not an authentic experience. I was saying if generic players were the only issue, it seems they would have been able to come up with a solution to that over the course of five years (such as creating the real players and applying them to their respective D-League team).
Regardless of whether someone wishes for an immediate rise to stardom in MyPlayer mode, I still believe the D-League has a place in NBA 2K. If nothing else, it would serve as a valuable, realistic, and worthy instrument in both MyGM and MyLeague, if implemented correctly. Teams are increasingly moving toward running their D-League affiliate as a piece of their own franchise and many teams would offer unique playstyles and experiences (ex: the high tempo Rio Grande Valley Vipers).
Still, the primary issue here is why certain realistic aspects of the game are removed. We do not have much to go off of, though the quote earlier in this thread from a 2K employee that was along the lines of, "You know how many people skip halftime shows? A lot a lot" would seem to suggest that analytics may plays an important role in decisions made. From there, I think it's natural to wonder if modes being removed are not played because people don't care, or if they're not played because the modes themselves have crucial (and perhaps very correctable) issues (ex: the no-edit D-League, the Guitar Hero slam dunk, unchanged halftime report with little depth).
So when do the player intros take place? Did they skip? I watched with the audio off.
They would be before the game, just like when we see the pregame preparations of the players in the past.
They have also said that player introductions don't happen every game.
With the power of PS4, I wonder why they can't make the models of Shaq and Ernie look authentic...I mean u have games like The Last Of Us for example with realistic looking character models consistently throughout the game...and yet here u have only 2 models to work with in a studio and u can't manage to get it looking authentic? Hmmm....

That's a bad example because that is a linear game. Linear games always look better than sports games or open world games because they only have to load what path you are supposed to take vs thousands of 3d models(sports game) or large areas of land with object on it.
As far as them lookig "real" they look like they were scanned. Everyone looks basically the same in 2k if they were scanned. Obviously the players look better most likely because they have a higher poly count, but Shaq Ernie and now Doris don't look bad by any means.
I knew it was to good to be true.. As much as they added something had to be taken away.. Next year there gonna add back the halftime show and make it seem like its some innovative new feature lol
I could deal with out the camera showing a bunch of the after made shot animations, it would be more realistic to show them much more sporadically. I also think it would make A LOT more sense if replays were shown at deadballs or timeouts. Then you could show 2-3 at a time and it wouldn't interfere with the actual game.
Another thing, on fouls, I wish the players wouldn't just stop right in there tracks, it'd be more fluid for the guy that got fouled, to get his high fives and stuff as he is walking to the line and the other guys (like the defenders) should be moving around, walking and looking up at the screen instead of just standing like zombies. It's small, but it'd make it look much more fluid and realistic. Like the guy that fouled him, if he clapped in frustration or said something to the ref and then looked up at the replay, that would look better IMO.

That or revamp it(lord knows it needed that. also lets try to remember the Damon Bruce stuff)
Get rid of any animations where they help someone off the ground for the other team. That happens very rarely, if ever IRL.
Also noticed that once a player's warmups come off, they don't come back. That should be fixed, or at least have them put on a shooting shirt. It's a small detail, but that's where we're at with 2K now lol.
Well they skip it because it sucks...how about enhancing the half time show rather than remove it completely...
I never skipped NFL2k5's halftime show because it was fun to watch...jeez you guys had Ernie & Shaq they could've done something for halftime at least....
I don't know how I feel about having the D-pad for calling plays....I guess it could work...walking the ball up and using the right thumb to cycle through the plays wouldn't be to bad...
This halftime show brings back so many fond memories, and that was on Xbox 1, NOT Xbox One. I don't see how something similar couldn't be implemented into 2K15, 10 years later. Chris Berman was the man in this halftime show btw.
It would be nice to see a halftime show, but it's not a deal breaker. The thing that bothered me was the reasoning was that most people skip it, so we figured we'd just take it out. Don't get that attitude. I guess they felt the same way about practice modes, hence no practice mode.
Some people said the spacing was better, but it still was a little off, along with the floaty passing. One thing that I did like was the contact in the paint and the animations after contact, also the fluidity of the players seemed to move better but we don't know how much we have control of our players until the controllers is in our hands.
it's still weird to have a gaming company hype a pregame show with no halftime. lol
Tbh they hardly hyped it. It was alluded to a few times and revealed in the Yakeem trailer, but it wasn't hyped like everything else they've talked about.

That's been a problem since they first put them in years ago so I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. Seems like it may be more complicated than we think(though Live does it where they put the shooting shirt back on or the entire warmup)

I actually disagree those games look more realistic. But the day those games have to do as much as a sports game in a shorter amount of time will be the day the comparisons are apples to apples.
Maybe it's just me, but I think 2K14 players showed more emotions, especially more facial expressions. 2K15 players look more neutral all the time, not much emotion.
It's confirmed no halftime show? If it is, that's terrible. I wish I could just sit in on their decision makings on situations like this. Remove the whole show because people skip through it?
