It astonishes me that 2K still hasn't fixed the skinny arms and the coat-hanger shoulders (Phil Jackson-like). It sticks out like a sore thumb when even big muscular guys like Perkins and Ibaka have toothpicks for arms. It makes the otherwise great looking graphics look terrible.

Come on, 2K. This is supposed to be "next gen" and we can't even get body models to look like real athletes? We need a more diverse body models, not just basically three types: super skinny, medium size (although the arms are skinny relative to the rest of the body), and super bulky (arms are skinny relative to the rest of the body).

Lol, at people saying this looks like 2k14, what is it supposed to look like? Anyone expecting a completely different game every year need to wake up. None of these sports game jump light years from year to year, unless it moving from one generation to the next. Most games are going to be very similar, but with some adjustments in gameplay, visuals, modes, etc. It also kills me when a person entire post is negative about this game, then the last line is, "I'm still buying". I liked 2k14. It had its share of problems, but was very playable and I enjoyed it. If 2k15 is just a few upgrades and adjustments, so the game could play a lot better, I'm good with that. I'll reserve my overall impressions until I see, hear, and play it for myself.

I'm a little confused about people saying we can't draw conclusions because it was recorded on a cell phone. I haven't really seen many comments referring specifically to the crispness of graphics or anything that a direct capture could change. Even in this fuzzy, offscreen video, we can still see animations, cutaways, player models, etc.

Watched it just once, but it was enough to see some legacy issues. Clutter, poor spacing, overhead pass at 1 metre length from each other, forced shot canimation by Love with that post up. One thing was extremely evident and probably my biggest gripe with 2k, besides clutter/poor spacing, and that is inability to go by a defender when 1 on 1/ lack of first step explosion. It really kind of LIMITS the gameplay imo. If corrected it would open the game immensely, give it freedom it lacks at this point.

The cuts, camera zooms look great but the transition from the close up to gameplay again very hectic, chaotic with players speeding up in one direction then akwardly changing it. Remember Rob Jones talking about correcting in last year or 2 years ago, but seems they didn't. Kills the immersion to me.

Looks worse than gamescom clips, but I'm optimistic as this is my only bball game to play (PC gamer), so no other choice.

You know 2k16 will be a more polished version of 2k15 right? 2k has been upgrading each iteration yearly. Why do people act like this is something new?

I really think that most of you should take a break from buying a 2k game for a couple of years. Only then you will probably notice the BIG changes you're hoping for.

it looks the same no one can deny that, but that doesn't necessarily mean its bad as long as they polish the game. Right now its looks like a polished version of 2k14 and we all hope it plays better.
No sir, you won't see me in 2 or 3 months complaining. I never have done that. You maybe, but not me. I'll be to busy playing and enjoying myself. I work hard for my money, and I spend it wisely. I'm not gonna complain about a game then buy it, to complain about what I was already complaining about.

I just hope they don't force us to download rosters online before every exhibition game. That was about the dumbest thing I've ever seen in a sports game.

I also never said that they didn't add anything new to the game because I am sure they did.
Well, maybe you should read all of it. You didn't get the game, yet you talk like you knew every facet of 2k14 and that you could see it all in a 4 minute cellphone clip. I just thought that was presumptuous. And it is. Of course, if you see the clip and it reminds of of 14 immediately, how should that be a surprise? You didn't really read my post, as you said, so I don't know where I claim you said anything bad. A little defensive aren't you? The fact of the matter is that there ARE new animations in that clip. But if you had actually bought 2k14, you would have seen them. No one says you have to buy either game.

I've been playing 2K for a long time and I am familiar with how the game plays. I have 2K14 on 360 and a lot of it still plays the same on 2K14 NG, you can look at it and tell. It probably "feels" different, but from everything I've watched it's pretty similar besides graphics. A lot of things that happen in CG happens in NG.
I've been playing it since Dreamcast. And I agree it's pretty similar. Why shouldn't it be? It's their vision and it's a game millions of people love. So, why on Earth should it undergo some drastic change?

No matter what you say, my opinion will stay the same. I didn't see anything new gameplay wise in that video. It's def not a bad thing for me, but based on the only gameplay I saw of 2K15, it plays similar to 2K14. End of story.
Where do I attempt to change your opinion? I just noted that your opinion is less informed than you may want people to believe. And for the record, I agree with the main point of that opinion. 2K15 looks similar 2K14. And, in many opinions, that's is actually a good thing.

I have no issue with anything here, but this. THIS is the kind of stuff that leads to cheese in the game. Lack of explosion? Maybe. I can agree with that to a degree. But, in general, when I see people cry about getting by the defender, when we know it can be done with some actual skill, I want to cry. No! It's all opinion of course. But these lead to dunkfests. Just my opinion.

Still nothing on gameplay officially announced so there still isn't anything I can really talk about on here.

One question for the really experienced 2k ballers out there. Has CPU vs CPU footage ever really been a good indicator of how well a game plays ? What I mean to say is that I don't ever recall a game where out of the box the AI did a magnificent job of playing vs itself.

Obviously that is going to take some work but the vast majority of people either play someone else or vs the AI. So just something to think about. And I am not saying there hasn't been a dope AI vs AI game out the box I just can't think of one so I am thinking it is pretty rare.

There are a LOT of subtle things we have done on the game-play side that guys who like 2k basketball are going to enjoy. As always, and were all adults here, some stuff is not going to be fantastic in every frame of video you watch or play. It just isn't.

I'll just say that I am very excited about some of the things we got to this year. If your looking for perfection then apologies all around as the game-play team as dope as we are ( JOKE) did not accomplish that this year.

If your looking for improved game-play with a focus on simulation then we got a few Noice things in store.

I am not a fan of not telling you anything and just releasing game-play from folks who don't know the nuances. But... I don't get to make that call. I realize that only really allows you to focus on what has not yet been perfected. That is natural and understandable.

2k14 gave us a really strong base that we built upon. Iteration is the key to getting the depth I believe you guys want from your games. The down side is that all the improvements won't pop out at you immediately, some of them, like the old 2k's just kind of keep coming at you the more you play.

Hopefully the things that bother you won't keep you from appreciating the progress we made in other area's. Again, think improved, not perfected and IF you like 2k basketball I think game-play wise this game will challenge 2k11 for the best playing hoop game around.

Just keep in mind a lot of you couldn't appreciate how dope 2k11 was ... until 2k12 came out. LOL.

I am hoping they let me loose soon.

Da_Czar keepin it real! I look forward to hearing the details and it sucks that the info train trickles down reaaallly sloooowly.

Czar,

Man tell them to let you Mike and the gameplay team start talking the gameplay dev diaries with actual improvements. Then follow that up with 10 teams in 10 days. I seen enough at Gamescom videos to see the gameplay improvements personally. So if it plays anything similar to that with further improvements I will be fine.

  • Help defense with contesting
  • Contextual contest with animations
  • Rotation improvement
  • Pick and roll defense

It's going to come Goffs but we'll be talking about that in other threads later. You WILL love it!

These "muscle guys" are still very slim/skinny compared to the average person.. Sure they are cut up like crazy and in amazing shape, but they aren't like body builder big.. Idk if you've ever been to a live NBA game to see it in person, but even LeBron looks pretty slim. They say the camera adds 10 pounds, it definitely does, and the wide screen TVs make it even worse..

I get what you're arguing, it could be better.. But just a couple years ago everyone was bitching they were too big, this "too skinny" looks much more realistic IMO, and we won't see "perfection" until we can literally change arm size, chest size, waist size, shoulder size, etc all independently on our own.

Just check the alternative from the EA sports videos they've released.. Everyone one has David Robinson shoulders and giant muscles emerging from their jersey when they lift their arms, it's the same complaint everyone had about 2K a couple years ago.

For example, someone everyone complains about is Noah, but when you aren't looking at him from the side (where everyone's arm looks biggest) his arm really isn't that big.

And for comparisons here, not on the basketball court, his forearm isn't any bigger than this girls.

These guys in general just aren't near as big as what everyone thinks they are from watching TV. There are a certain few who are, but 90% of the league is not.. We don't need a game where everyone looks like Karl Malone, far more inaccurate than a select few players looking "too skinny".
