Madden NFL 13 News Post

It all seemed too good to be true.

Now after this week's bombshells that you cannot edit players in connected careers or play any other games in the mode other than your own, it seems like the Madden team is once again forcing you to play your game their way. To me, this is a huge problem. Others of you? Maybe not so much. But let's hear it: Has the 'closed' nature of Connected Careers turned you away and/or cooled your enthusiasm about Madden NFL 13?

Sound off!

Both of you

I play both online AND offline so cut that out right away. Second, I NEVER said it was right. In reality I agreed with Aholbert and Steeler about it should of NEVER been removed. So don't INSINUATE!

I am talking HOW you talk to people. These two posts are EXACTLY my point!

Understood, I completely understanding being frustrated with EA and the football franchises. Hell I am part of The Sim Standard and have been fighting this battle for a long time.

It is the manner it is discussed and thrown around with no regard for others. People don't HAVE to agree with you is my point.

Getting into this back and forth with He said, she said about Offline/online is flat out STUPID!

Nothing is being accomplished. Do you have the right to be upset........YESSSS 1,000,000 times YESSSS. But getting into battles with others because they don't use or miss the features removed is not helping anything.

You should be making youtube videos, emailing, EA, or anything else to show you disapproval with the removal of the features. But don't get into a 200 page back and forth debate over "Is it better for Online guys now!!!"

Roger that......myself and others have tried to express that we're all in this together and want a game that supports all users. I think emotions come out a little when people pop in and take the whole "who cares I don't use that anyway" attitude towards EA removing modes and features.

As much as we try to keep the conversation about design decisions and how the game should be built around features instead of without them, it always turns back into a "but just think about how online guys felt and look how much better the game is now because we've always wanted this" when thats not entirely true at all. In a perfect world the game would be moving forward for everyone without compromising modes and features IMO.

The sad thing is that I have read every page. I agree that the back and forth is unnecessary, it's only when people involve conjecture, and their opinion as fact that it even gets interesting. When you look at the facts of the matter, the topic itself is quiet boring. None of us should be surprised at the situation. The madden community has become a group of cliques. It shouldn't be this way. One thing we have in common is the game itself and we should respect the way you the individual play the game. You can find the perfect group to fit in. Or you could.

I don't want my "clique" to go away.

@Bucky straight up, I am not getting into a back and forth with you. You guys (the loudest ones) are dragging enough people into unneeded debates.

Well said, but my point is even if someone says "but just think about how online guys felt and look how much better the game is now because we've always wanted this" you still should not be getting into a debate over which one is MORE correct.

The problem is all this constant fighting for zero reason. One group is unhappy, one sees both sides, one loves the changes, and one does not care either way. To create a battle between all these groups because YOU don't agree is WRONG

I agree and I'm sure I've somehow let my emotions cross that line. Its just that the "who cares about all the stuff missing" crowd really gets under my skin you know. I'd like the game to be designed for everyone and it just seems like that crowd doesn't care about others and that bothers me a lot......lol

If you want to drop it fine. But then go delete post 468 and be done with it.

And "dragging people into unneeded debates? I think the debates are needed. EA/Tib does look at these forums, don't they?
I am just going to add you to the ignore list because you don't get it and you keep repeating yourself every post.

I've found myself using this feature a lot the last several pages

I'm all in on constructive criticism. I love that there are differing viewpoints. But in the last week, the forum has been flooded with Johnny-come-latelys and/or people who rarely post. They're free to express their opinions as we are, but when people say the same thing over and over, then the IG list is where ya go...

I feel you trust me, I have done my share of "fighting" for change from the EA football franchise. There is a way to do it correctly, and it can be done overboard. Notice Aholbert does not agree with the changes at all, and he makes his point VERY clear. He is also not repeating his self every other posts.

No one I believe is truly happy the things were removed, just some people can live with it is the difference. That does not fault them in any way, just like it does not fault the people who CAN'T live without those features. It just means different people require different things.

This has nothing to do with the business model of EA (Which I think is all kind of jacked up and we the consumers take the short stick), that is a entire different topic. Arguing with people who are not part of that business model is a complete waste of time because nothing changes, nothing is fixed, and wasted typing.

Yea the long time guys here know who likes or dislikes the gameplay or inner workings of EA. We have made this clear with posts throughout the years. But some guys are just overboard right now, literally posting the same thing a different way every single post.

With all that said, I am done with the back and forth in here.

On Topic: I am excited for Madden for the first time in a LONG time.

It's posts like these that sometimes make me wonder if you're able to discern people who don't care about others losing features from those who genuinely don't care. Over the past two days the following snips have come from some of my posts:

This is almost as ridiculous as not caring about the lost features.

I still sympathize with the people who are upset because I know what it's like for a video game to not do what I want it to, when it seems like it should.

...while in no way am I trying to minimize those losses...
And then you respond to one of my posts with the following:

That's my biggest problem in all of this. Such dismissive attitudes and near mud-slinging buries the real issues at hand.

Online crowd, Offline crowd, Midline crowd, Don't care crowd, Edit/custom crowd.

That's enough factions to play RISK. I want the blue army.

I am excited about the changes in Madden. I am sad to see certain things go by the wayside but I felt the game was a little stale anyhow. The new in game features (engine, passing, CCM) are fresh and new and once these get polished I believe they will bring back the things we lost (editing, import) I am glad they they are solely concentrated on innovations rather than re hatching the same game this year with just a new engine.

Have you guys focused on the gameplay videos, though, for both NCAA and Madden? Both look about the same. They both have the pass trajectory stuff the same, new catch animations, the fields and player models look the same, etc. I've even seen player physics in both games. I'm starting to get even more suspicious...not that I mean to...but it's right there for us to see, you know.
