Madden NFL 13 News Post

Because I have been asked about this via Twitter and email so often, I wanted to make sure people were aware.

Justin Dewiel, Community Manager for EA Sports, just confirmed via Twitter (just follow the timeline), if you coach a team, you can no longer play other games on the schedule, only the game(s) on your own schedule.

For example. Rgiles asked if he could coach the Cowboys in CCM, but play the Patriots vs. Browns game.

Justin stated that it is not possible, because CCM is based around you and your character (coach or player).

I want to post something in this thread, too, (from another thread) to see if it changes some of your minds:

We keep being told the new engine code is complex, buggy and whatever and just can't handle putting features like player editing in, in a short time. Okay. Then what other magical code is Donny Moore going to use, likely every week for editing, changing rosters and allowing them to be easily downloaded into our complex, buggy coded game without a hitch?

Blue pill or Red pill, folks.

While I understand your point, I think user-end and programming-end editing tools are completely different. Well I know they are.

I'm still trying to find out why people keep saying CC is this great feature rich mode. What are they offering me that I couldn't have before? Everything listed is still less than franchise had back in XBOX 07 franchise.

In CC I can coach 1 team
I can scout with a point system
I think I can fill out a depth chart with players out of position because I can't fix them.
I can manually "progress" my players with a point system.
New ratings/value system

Am I missing anything? Nothing other than the ratings/value system really sounds very deep for me compared to full editing and controlling everything in the league.

he is not using some in game editor to make his rosters. someone posted a tweet askking justin the same question somewhere.

I was assuming that I was going to be able to play as whatever retired player returns for a few games just for fun but now this ruins that. I think I've made peace with the fact im not getting the game because online has never really been my thing anyway and everything else should be better next year. I'm really hoping they do more for the offline guys in Madden 14.

If I can edit rosters outside of CCM...

If Donny can edit rosters for CCM that we can download without fault...

If the whole game is ONE code now instead of three...

It should all be the same and apparently not so complex that they can't make changes in such short time like they keep claiming.

All that has been said is that if you start CC after a roster update that is the case. So those that play offline shouldn't have this problem as it should be as simple as deleting the updated rosters and loading an edited roster. Which should trick it into thinking it's the updated roster.

As for those that play online, it hasn't changed since Madden 12 as you couldn't edit Online Franchise or Online Play.

edited rosters using the in game editor and donny's are not the same. his are more like a patch that replaces the default one. and if CC only looks for the default roster his would be found, while an edited one would not

Hate to be a *******, but this is hilarious.

I know I only control one team and this might suck for a lot of you guys. And I feel for you.

But give it time. What you're missing is, they didn't take out any features this year.

They build the whole game mode from scratch and as such there's been no features to take out. They just didn't put them in the new mode. But I guess they will in time in the next couple of years. Looman has made it very clear that they won't put anything in the game until it's perfectly functional with no flaws at all.

That is why I'm very confident about this years game. There is no reason to believe that CC won't play out beautifully because they wouldn't have launched it, if it wasn't working.

So back to the part where you all knock on me for saying 32 team control doesn't matter. I'm sure it does for a lot of the guys on here. Just like fantasy drafts matter, just like imported draft classes matter. And I'm sure it WILL be back some time in the next few years. Just not this year because it's not working properly.

Have patience my friends.

The updated rosters however are saved much in the same way an edited roster is saved so saving the edited over the default seems like it would effectively do similarly but I won't speak this as fact as I am a computer expert but not a video game designer so I don't know if they have a special code ingrained but that is just what it seemed like to me.

Either way it doesn't bother me much because although I use custom sliders, editing ratings have just never appealed to me so I'm not upset about it. As I stated though I just like that they are giving it more of a simulation feel. As long as I can make realistic trades with other teams I don't care to control them as long as they stay competitive.

Technically, you're right they didn't "take away" any features they just left them out, but at the end of the day the result is the same. We lose the ability to use features that have been available for several years. Hopefully Looman is right and everything in the game is flawless, but I can't remember the last time I played a "flawless" Madden game.

In a couple of months we'll know for sure what we have in CC, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's not as great as it's hyped to be (at least not this year). This wouldn't be the first time a new Madden game/feature looked great in June only to disappoint in August.

Alright, flawless might be a little too much to ask for. All I'm saying is have patience. This may turn out greater than we can imagine, and maybe there won't be need to control every team.

I don't have the need to control every team or edit rosters in FIFA, NHL or something similar. I would love if I didn't have to in Madden to get a realistic experience.

When exactly have we been told that the new engine code is buggy? Nobody told us that because you just made it up.

I have seen you in several threads wondering why people think cc is such a feature rich mode. I actually wonder why you think it is not. This will offer more depth than any madden. Way more depth than madden 07. Madden 13 is going to be seriously deep.
I understand it is lacking a lot of features from past years right now and it is pretty much missing at least one thing that just about everybody would want in the game (I wish we could import draft classes but I can live a year without that feature) but if you really think that Madden 13 does not sound like a deep football experience then I just don't know what would make you think that.

For me it's not so much about controlling every team (I never control more than one), but the fact that this feature is gone removes any chance of me playing couch co-op this year. CC mode looks to have real potential, but it's frustrating that we have to lose editing players, couch co-op in CC, multiple team control, importing draft classes/RTG players, etc.

Honestly, I really hope this game turns out great, but we have no idea how enjoyable CC will be since we haven't actually played it. The only thing we know for sure is that we lost a lot of features to get it.

# 276 ImaGamer_OS @ 06/13/12 05:50 AM
This isn't a big deal for me. I only play games that are scheduled for the team I am controlling.

# 277 Bulls321974 @ 06/13/12 07:07 AM
Big deal for me and definitely a no-buy, too. That's enough now...

# 278 bdozer66 @ 06/13/12 07:37 AM
You guys think they can put together a game that will make every single person happy? That is just impossible. This doesn't effect me at all, so i'm still pumped for this game. The new Infinity engine and the new additions career mode sound great. A first day buy for sure.

# 279 cusefan74 @ 06/13/12 08:09 AM
I was gonna get this game, but I guess I will wait a while. I got a feeling their will be a lot of bugs in it. I don't care about not being able to play other teams games, but they are just making to many changes for this game not to be a bigger mess then ever before.

Alot of guys are not understanding how taking away controlling other teams also affects gamers who like to play there offline franchise with friends or family.. I know the generation I grew up in played franchise with there friends or family growing up.. This has been part of the game forever and should have been including with the new engine. Everybody doesn't play online. There's alot of gamers who rather enjoy playing there franchise offline with all the features that has been on the game. If it doesn't affect you that's fine but don't knock the guys who like to control all teams or play Multi-Player franchise with family or friends.. Some of the stuff I'm reading is crazy but I can tell it's from guys who just started playing the Madden..
