Madden NFL 13 News Post

Because I have been asked about this via Twitter and email so often, I wanted to make sure people were aware.

Justin Dewiel, Community Manager for EA Sports, just confirmed via Twitter (just follow the timeline), if you coach a team, you can no longer play other games on the schedule, only the game(s) on your own schedule.

For example. Rgiles asked if he could coach the Cowboys in CCM, but play the Patriots vs. Browns game.

Justin stated that it is not possible, because CCM is based around you and your character (coach or player).

Everybody doesn't play online. There's alot of gamers who rather enjoy playing there franchise offline with all the features that has been on the game. If it doesn't affect you that's fine but don't knock the guys who like to control all teams or play Multi-Player franchise with family or friends.. Some of the stuff I'm reading is crazy but I can tell it's from guys who just started playing the Madden..
So... bassically, me and my brother can't play an Offline Franchise together? We have to pay online and pay the extra $10 to allow him to play?

What a bunch of BULL****...

I don't know how anyone defends this piece of **** company...

Can't wait till 2K13 DESTROYS that POS NBA LIVE AGAIN This year...

When is 2K football coming back? Is this the last "Exclusive" Madden? or do we have to wait till the end of M14???

That's the icing on the cake for me. Madden 13 is a no buy. EA has now made it so we have to play the game their way instead of the way we choose. One team control only, no roster editing in CC mode. Whats next, removal of the sliders and difficulty levels? C'mon man!

Meh. No big deal to me.

I'm on board with you here. This one is tough to swallow.

Games like Forza don't ship completely unlocked.. you don't get access to the best cars out of the box...you have to build up to that. Other games have locked content down as part of the RPG elements. I'm not saying it's great but you could see how a team of 99ovr's might break a mode like connected careers.

Everything is going along the same trajectory here folks.

E3 Comes along, new features are announced, along with a Vid. OS goes Crazy "THIS IS THE YEAR OMG!"

Slowly, the real news about these "features" leak out, everyone loses their **** "OMG IM CANCELING MY PREORDER LOL!"

Game comes out, its the same old Madden that it has been since 07, with a thin film of new paint. Some like it, some don't, buts its generally vied as a mediocre product.

Then the Hype for the next year begins "GUYS NEXT YEAR IS THE YEAR OMG!"

# 287 TheUndogmatic @ 06/13/12 10:24 AM
"Yeah here's all these awesome new features we got in the game! Oh, but um... we had to take some stuff out of the game for no reason... heheh... LATER GUYS!"

This doesn't affect me really, I don't play with other people on Madden or edit rosters, but this is pathetic. What's up EA?

I "CAN'T WAIT" to see some of the RIDICULOUS Trades and FA Signings the CPU Makes...

Thats besides the point. In Forza if I want to access those cars, I can build up to that. In Madden, if I want to edit players or have a 32 team franchise, I cant no matter what I do. If they charged $3 to give allow people to edit players, people would be pissed but many would be happy that they at least have an option.

I am looking at this as the first iteration of Madden games for the next generation of consoles rather than a continuation of what we have seen since Madden 10.

Consider the fact that RTF is in this game. Franchise and Superstar Mode are now packaged as one cohesive mode (CCM). Then consider the fact that a lot of the other small stuff (along with was I just mentioned) is something that we would be hoping for in the next consoles' iterations of Madden.

Not to mention the fact that this could all be potentially patched if they deem it necessary/cost beneficial. Take your fingers off the panic button for now...
It is indeed very much a reboot/remake, actually. I've dealt with it in music per bands that covered well known songs, I deal quite a bit with films that do as such. Unfortunately I don't get to have any input for games that now wish to do this. I wish I did. The audience immersion is far different and so much more reliant upon being interactive...but I don't think they guessed to what degrees of interaction the audience craves very well. It does promote either that they don't listen, don't read the many sports game forums or just don't care. Sadly, both the music and film world are the same because it all starts with arrogantly thinking that they have a name product that was supported so well before, made bank so well and to reboot won't matter since they know that at the very least, the same audience will purchase the earlier version also available. They know they don't lose much at all. I think it would have to be a few years in a row of subpar sales before they feel forced to give us everything we ask for.

It still doesn't mean I won't just bend over and take it, though. No matter what industry I've worked for, I was a fan of it, first...therefore I went in with a fan mindset and not for fortune and glory. I think we should indeed keep giving them the third degree because in this information age of fast knowledge and viral uprising capability, the fact that they can't get rid of bad media is a solid psychological tool. We may well not affect their wallets, but we can bug them to no end and make them want to say, "okay, already!" Haha.

I suppose then Create-A-Player won't be an option? And if CCM's Superstar equivalent hasn't changed much from the last few years, then it'll still remain a disappointment. Without the cheesy yet refreshing off-the-field options from the early superstar modes (Interviews, Movies, Endorsements, Agents, Player PERSONALITY), Superstar Mode has been extremely barebones, dry and empty.

And I guess you can't edit the gear or jersey numbers of your draft picks. It always bugged me in Madden 12 to see the random linebacker running around wearing #2, thanks to the expanded preseason rosters. I can only assume this won't be vanishing anytime soon. And it's cool when you can give that future HOF WR the number of your favorite HOFer, along with new badass cleats or a sweet face mask.

Are position changes gone as well? I know that was in the player edit screen. It was only convenient to switch a slow OLB to MLB or an aging FS to SS. I remember switching an older OT to OG. Notice that these things might actually happen in real life. I'm not even talking about the 78 OLB who becomes a 97 DE.

I honestly can't remember the last sports game I played without fantasy draft as an option.

I wonder if there are ANY Owner Mode aspects remaining. Back in Madden 04ish I LOVED messing with ticket prices. And watching that dwindle down to somewhat useless stadium endorsements hurt.

I'd be surprised to see Create-A-Team or Team Relocation still in the game.

I have a new slogan for EA.

If it's in the game, it's in the...sorry folks we run out of time, maybe next year!

# 294 BengalsFan99 @ 06/13/12 11:57 AM
The reason why we can only control 1 team and not make any changes to any player is because the franchise mode (CCM) is totally scripted!!!! Everything in CCM is FIXED, your coach or player that you control is the wildcard if you will; meaning you can only effect things to a certain degree. You will have to earn a bunch of XP for your team or player to fully take a stranglehold on your experience. I will not buy Madden 13 this year, I will be buying NCAA13 instead I liked 12 and the new animations and passing control , and ESPN presentation has won me over. SCREW YOU Josh Looman u just killed my fav aspect of Madden Franchise Mode.

# 295 aholbert32 @ 06/13/12 12:01 PM
LOL. I swear Looman has blocked a bunch of people on Twitter. All for asking about missing features on CCM.

Reading your post, I'd just add there's a difference between being upset and then letting it go, and blowing a gasket over a video game of all things. Really, is there a reasonable explanation getting that worked up over what amounts to a toy?

# 297 N51_rob @ 06/13/12 12:04 PM
I just want to know if they have fixed the way incoming players look, equipment and number wise. I haven't played madden 12 since I left the OS Vets, but offline I'm sure I saw guys coming in with giant shoulder pads, skill position guys having those giant elbow pads, every tape option and taped up ankles with that awful bulky tape, I don't want my QB wearing a Dan Marino facemask either. Is that a little OCD? Yes, probably but it's one of the things that I like to do and enjoy doing. Let me fix that and give my players numbers that make sense. and I would be happy. Went a long time without being able to edit rating within a franchise I can live with that.

And I want to raise this point once again. What if I have two sons at home and we want to play a franchise together in the evening? We have to what have 2 game systems and 2 copies of the game and play online? Is that the only "solution" What exactly does EA say to me? How do I get that little pleasure out of Madden?

That question has nothing to do with being a "hardcore" madden fan. That is a situation that would/could affect Madden's "casual" base more than the hardcore.

Wouldn't it sound better this way:

If it's in the game, it's in next year.

There has been a lot of people talking about how these missing features completely renders the new stuff null and void, which is equivalent to me.

As far as the "unrealistic" progression system, it's impossible to create a real one. Miles Austin for instance is lucky to even make the roster, and then an injury happens and suddenly he's balling out of control. You can't accurately replicate that, and you can't accurately replicate how quickly players can suddenly fall off. It's too unpredictable, and the backlash you're seeing now would pale in comparison to what would happen if your star players could just suddenly regress without reason.

You have a link to confirm this? Nothing I've seen thus far leads me to believe that CCM is "scripted" or "fixed".
