Madden NFL 13 News Post

Because I have been asked about this via Twitter and email so often, I wanted to make sure people were aware.

Justin Dewiel, Community Manager for EA Sports, just confirmed via Twitter (just follow the timeline), if you coach a team, you can no longer play other games on the schedule, only the game(s) on your own schedule.

For example. Rgiles asked if he could coach the Cowboys in CCM, but play the Patriots vs. Browns game.

Justin stated that it is not possible, because CCM is based around you and your character (coach or player).

In this thread I learned almost everyone has insider knowledge on EA's thinking. Where do I get this?

It's not impossible to create a realistic one.

Yes you can.

Yes you can.

Your first valid point.

There is always a reason why someone regresses. Happens all the time in the NFL. Injury? System? Team Player Turnover? Age? Wear and Tear on body?
So how do you create it then?

It´s incredible after all this pages people still minimize situations like yours and of your family, Jarodd. A shame!

A family playing since the 90´s now has NO OPTION to play the game they love together. But that´s ok if my "experience" is guaranteed.

I canceled my pre-order but can still give it a try in the future, because I love the elements of Head Coach promised in the game. I just want to see if it will works properly, because without a minimal control, the game could become a mess.

But you and your family? You´re not important...

If you can control another team or play another game on the schedule, then the user does in fact have the ability to predetermine the outcome of the game.

What next...do you all want a $1M video game contest in which the user can alter the cpu opponent's roster.....
Are you really serious? Are you telling me that Cam Weber quote regarding predetermined outcomes has anything to do with CCM?

Predetermined outcomes was towards the gameplay. Talk about a reach...

Ideas are very different than the implementation of ideas through programming. Was that factor ever discussed? Programming an idea is vastly different than simply coming up with one. As is the implementation of that programming into a broader code base. Just saying. People here tend to oversimplify things, making a game is anything but easy.

I almost never post on these sites but this is enough to get me involved. I agree with everyone that is upset by the lack of choosing whichever game you wish to choose in CC mode. And I don’t get people who can’t understand their reasoning. What if I don’t want to control one team each and every week? I don’t necessarily want to be a GM in the game, I just want the NFL season experience. Playing my game and simulating the rest of the week is boring to me it’s essentially just meaningless simulated numbers the CPU gave you those games are not really being played. The CPU is the one in control, not you. If I choose to simulate then let it be my choice, if I choose to play the game and actually experience that game, let it be my choice.

Franchise mode allows me to play games the same way I watch games on TV. I don’t get what’s so hard to understand about that. I have a favorite team yes, but that doesn’t mean I don’t watch other games too. I don’t know anybody that strictly watches their teams games and nobody else’s. I want to play Madden as more of a spector of the sport I enjoy than the GM of a specific team.

If you want to control one team and you’re happy with it, then fine don’t be critical of us who don’t enjoy playing that way just because you don’t care and it doesn’t bother you. Because the way EA is going there may come a time when it’s your turn, and something you enjoy will be taken out of the game.

OK if you want this line of thinking, then they removed franchise mode by their own words. Is that removed enough for you?

I got something better...

Patriots take the field for offense...

Wild Tom Brady Appeared!

Go Terrell Suggs!

Suggs uses Sack... The move did not have any effect.

Suggs Uses Sack... Critical Hit! It's Super Effective! Enemy Tom Brady Fainted... Terrell Suggs Gains 45 EXP. Points!
You should have stopped there.

I think your missing some from the gain list. I have heard of new ratings to help the overall fluctuate, and the salary cap is new for online, which is probably a big reason for a lot of these changes. To help online get on par with offline. But that could also be the reason some of the things lost were also because of the Online aspect. Now I agree it stinks they removed these features, but I also see where there could be problems with this new mode.

Like the playing games that aren't yours, they could be running into problems with how to keep it restricted to the offline because you need to remember these modes are linked into one. And this could also be true for the 32 team control, as when trying to make it compatable with online they could be running into bugs. I truely believe online might be a huge reason with alot of the features being removed, and it stinks and I really hope they are working on finding ways to get them back in.

Talk about turning a lot of longtime Madden players upside down, sideways and then taking them out to the out house and beating the **** out of them.

I emphathize with all of you.

I am still buying the game.....and I have a feeling I will love it.

I am going to take my old school approach. I control one team, one destiny. Mine.

It is what it is for Madden 13. I am going to enjoy the heck out of the game if all the improvements come to fruition. I see a very immersive one player experience.

I see playing 10, 12, heck 15 seasons...changing careers mid stream...becoming a QB maybe...or a RB..or a legend as a rookie...or just being a coach for several teams over 20 years.

To me CC looks so cool and I will give it a true chance.

We are getting full on complete change. I hope it works out.

But I can't disagree on the outrage for guys who have been playing the game the way they want for a long time....and suddenly it is gone.

Tough pill to swallow.

But I think it is totally temporary.

Personally, this is disappointing. However, I usually only watch one other game that I don't control in franchise mode (all other years before Madden 13, that is): The Superbowl. I love seeing the presenation, the end of the game celebration etc.

I'm the opposite. I start a number of franchises.

1-I only play on the day the games are played during the season when my team plays, I play.
In my house during football season, if you don't talk football politely leave and never return.

2-Since I'm a fan of the NFL, of the NFC EAST E-A-G-L-E-S, I despise any other NFC team. I respect the fans and their players but if you stand in the way of my team you must be eliminated. Subsequently, I rarely play with another NFC team (unless my sons or nephew are giving me a handicap) So on the days I'm not playing my EAGLES franchise, I'm going with team B which could be the COLTS, STEELERS (I often try to get the Pennsylvania Super Bowl), RAVENS (wife's favorite team, she loves RAYRAY, and REED,), and sometimes the JAGUARS (I feel sorry for MJD too much talent to not have better supporting players).

In the times I'm not playing some type of offline chise, I'm making roster adjustments while following the weekly wrap up of games. I'm watching the NFL network, ESPN, DAILYNEWS live, and making the adjustments to get the game to emulate what happened that week. Noticing that this facemask is wrong, this receiver doesn't wear double large tape on his wrists, this one has shoes that are almost all yellow.....you get where I'm going. I immerse myself in a pseudo NFL...hell if I could I would be in this world from the combine to the film room. So CC sounds perfect for a person like that except where my compulsion lied coupled with the fact of not being capable of playing the game online, and offline CC seems like a one trick pony that I can only ride once.
