Madden NFL 13 News Post

While most of the Madden NFL 13 news out of E3 seems to be positive, we now have something that could turn into a very big issue. Especially if you enjoy roster editing or use edited rosters created by others.

There seemed to be some confusion about edited rosters. More specifically, if edited rosters could be used in Connected Careers Mode.

I sent a few messages to Justin Dewiel, Community Manager at EA Sports earlier this afternoon and received the following responses.

Quote:
You can edit rosters outside of CC. But you can’t bring them into CC.

If you start a new CCM career after one of Donny Moore’s releases you can start with that new roster.

Basically, we have to rely on Donny Moore's roster updates, throughout the season, instead of grabbing updated rosters from the many talented roster editors out there, or simply editing on our own.

Jean Adams, Art Director for Madden NFL 13, mentioned the following, in his presentation blog, which was posted in late April.

Quote:
Mixing and matching the new NIKE uniforms, cleats, face masks, sleeves and other yet to be released gear will keep me and many gamers out there in edit player for hours.

Hmmm. I somehow doubt many gamers will be playing around much in edit player, if we can't use the edits in anything other than a Play Now session.

Josh Looman, Madden NFL 13 Senior Designer mentioned on Twitter the following glimmer of hope.

Quote:
We just ran out of time. It will be in there at some point in the future.

Does he mean Madden NFL 14 or could the Madden NFL 13 team add the editing ability in a Title Update or fix the issue before its August 28th release date? I think I speak for everyone, when I say the sooner, the better.

I've seen someone on Facebook, who I doubt has ever bought a sports game, comment that the Kinect stuff has him "actually considering playing a football game"

It's an appeal to casual gamers, which should come as no surprise to anyone at this point

The more you read quotes from last years release about how important they know editing is to us players the more it frustrates me that it is not in this years game. I truly find it unacceptable and it is making this a non purchase for me.

Myself as well Saint. I tried one with a group of friends. I just couldn't get into it man. I don't knock everyone who does enjoy it but I don't think ill ever be able to get into online leagues.

Yes there's been different development houses, with hundreds if not thousands of different people working on the Madden franchise, but still, Electronic Arts has been making Madden for 20 plus years, they should know that there are certain core features that simply never should be omitted from any version of the game, no matter what else is added.

I'm thinking that they were legitimately caught off guard by the outcry over some of the "little things" left out this first iteration of CC. That some of their key designers were either unaware, or ever worse, didn't care that they were going to completely destroy the gaming experience for many of their long standing customers, is disconcerting.

I know they're thinking long term/big picture, but they're rolling the dice. Will enough new people be drawn in by the new goodies, to offset the loss of those who have been ostracized to the point of a non purchase. I think they were wrong to make the call they did, but I'm one who doesn't have an entrepreneurial bone in my body. Objectively, they probably made the right play.

Who would have thought that gameplay would ever become the forgotten issue when trying to navigate the maelstrom of the Madden board.

An 3-4 OLB with speed doesn't make a 4-3 DE because his position changed. It's because some guys have the skill set and from what I can tell a guys skill set won't change.
I already know those things I am talking about overall ratings.

I'm speaking about the AI making a decision on their depth chart to maximise their roster by shuffling players around. Maybe a team is looking for a OLB to fit their 3-4 scheme, their are no OLB in FA or in the draft that fits their mold. Will the AI be smart enough to look at a DE who can potentially play OLB on their depth chart?

That is what I am asking.

Basically if the AI is running a 3-4, will it see a specific DE just as a 60 OVR or will it see him as a 60 OVR DE AND a 75 OVR OLB.

Twitter feeds ? Not that I don't like them just much lower on my personal wishlist than editing

Don't get me wrong I love Madden the series, but its always a step foward and 2 steps back. They add all these cool features to the game, but now I can't play on the couch with my 3 buddies in a offline franchise? We have done it for years, and years. Unbelievable!!!

Was so excited for the new tackling physics, yet I can only enjoy them alone now. I was excited about the ability to add our own faces to our created defensive players only to find out it only works for Single player career mode. Terrible!!!

I guess it doesn't really matter anyways cause I then found out you can't create players and take them into your offline franchise (coach career).

Yes we all can still play together in a different way steady in online franchise but it's not the same as being together fighting for tackles, awards, probowls,ect...

Also if someone comes to my 9ers with #16,#8,#80 i'm gonna flip if I can't edit it.

ITS IN THE GAME!!!.....but its NOT! smh

Yea that's sucks, Im grown now but one of my favourite things as a kid was to run seasons in Madden with my cousins and buddies.

It's funny that with all of the online and social network stuff, it's actually taking away human contact.

10 years from now, we'll all be taking in 3rd person using robots and texting will be as "lame" as talking on the phone

Oh ok cool, when I think about it, I don't think the CPU will do that. They'll look for OLBs I'm sure. But you know...havent played it to know just yet and some answers won't get answered until then...

But the home owners association doesn't allow the use of an outhouse and the fire marshal said you can only burn candles under the supervision of Donny Moore.

That was a really intelligent analogy. I may be upset with using the bathroom outdoors and having no real technology, but I can still live in the house and it has plenty of size for me.

And only the homeowner is allowed in. Any friends or family members have to stay outside.

Contractor notes from customer:
Customer wants great craftsmanship with quality materials and fixtures. Has been burned by other contractors in the past and just wants to finally get a job done right and without compromises and shortcuts since he's paying top dollar for the job

Contractor notes from punch list:
Well, its amazing and I can't get over how good the paint looks. Sure there's a few things here and there like electrical covers and such, but nothing big and it's another job well done.

Contractor notes from walkthrough with customer:
Totally caught off guard by client beeing upset with missing electrical and plumbing. Paint and yard looks amazing, but client still unhappy about things missing from house that we just didn't feel were that big off a deal. Sticking with me guns though with client that plumbing was way to risky and so what if we ran out of time to get the other stuff done. Bahamas baby here I come!
