One of the things that i've realized in that video was how organic and smooth the layup of WB happened, great work. Thanks for the update.

NBA Live is doing something collision based also so that will be interesting.

I know you can't talk about details right now but.....Is the "double teams" an aspect that you guys worked/improved in 2k13? Expecially I'm referring to CPU Double Teams...the lack of it in 2k12 was really a big disappoint for hardcore fans here at OS.

IMHO 2k11 Double Teams were just fine....guys like Kobe, LBJ6 or DH12 got double teamed a lot ..

Thanks

Art updates are always last from what I recall...I'm pretty sure if they showed LeBum with his headband logo missing we will see those stupid threads pop up about his headband instead of discussing whatever kind of gameplay is shown...

So if Rondo can do this that is so unrealistic....I'm not saying I get passes like that every game but passing is way improved.

I know it's an early build of the game, but that Manu drive to the lane where Harden was basically being pushed back peddling was terrible. The spacing of the players vs the court seemed better to me, I really hope they stop the no look steals and dribbling off their own feet this year. In 2k12 that was unbearable and I had to stop playing it.

Belblua said he fixed this and is working on lay up animations.

@blues rocker hey man can you get rid of most of those videos, it takes up a lot of space and makes the thread look really sloppy. I'm not dissing you or anything but thats way too many videos, just leave a couple that you really want him to see.

I didn't see any live ball physics in the build, and I didn't get a chance to see if the hand tracking is fixed, are they in the game? I think that if fixed along with the collision system can really change the gameplay, also speed has that been fixed? If speed is fixed I'll preorder 2k13 right now.

I wasn't trying to be a jerk, and I think its good to give great examples like the ones you posted.

But looking closely does reveal some tuning of a highly polished game. "The point is, we have worked our butts off on passing," Jones said. This is not going to go without a fight. Jones said he, Mike Wang and Zach Timmerman started working on NBA 2K13—little things that bothered them, but still, work—the day after NBA 2K12 shipped. It peeved some of their colleagues, he admitted

I love 2K, and I certainly can't form a very strong opinion on such a short video this far away from release date.

But, if I'm being honest - and I think the majority here would agree if they were being honest with themselves as well - 2K12 really wasn't very good. Certainly when compared to the transcendent 2K11. I tried. I tried my best. For months. There are simply too many game breaking issues, bugs that are completely unacceptable, and gameplay gaffs that keep 2K12 from being special.

So yes, for now, the trust isn't there. 2K is a fantastic company, but this is still a producer/consumer relationship, and I have no problem with not buying the latest basketball title if I don't know for a fact that the glaring, inexcusable issues that pervaded the previous year's incarnation are fixed. I went back to 2K11, and I'll be fine with that for another year or two. Truly a testament to how fantastic a game 2K11 is.

It's a total wait and see approach for me this year. Is the Association stat glitch gone? Is the humiliating Create a Team name glitch gone? Will my players feel like they're wearing ice skates on defense? Will passes still feel too floaty? Will handling still feel sloppy? Will AI, both teammate and opposition, still be dumb as a rock? Have the scripted moments been removed or at the very least given less impact?

I'll need explicit answers to those questions before I consider purchasing 2K13. Whether those answers come from the developers before release, or from reviewers and fans after release, is really up to 2K.

Passing improvement check
Layup selection improvement check
Contact improvement check

I like what I am hearing

I guess Beluba can only give us so much info but what about live ball physics up and under success rates and rebounding? I really like when the ball is up for grabs man. I know speed and recovery defense has to be addressed but I am sure it would come via a detailed insight.

These guys spend so much money on strategy marketing and development that they forget about gameplay, player models and AI adaptability. It has been 13 years and we still don't have a basketball sim to revolutionize the way we play basketball games. 2k to me still has another level to go and i don't think they will do it this year either.

To me 2K12 was a downgrade. 2K11 was okay... Better than 2K12, but okay. I still don't see it happening this year either. I don't know what they are waiting for but they haven't wowed me. I mean think about it for a second just really sit back and think about it. Have we seen a basketball sim that has revolutionized the way we play simulation basketball? It has been over 13 years we have spent money to play these so called simulation basketball games.

I am not talking about the development over the years because I give them credit in the sense that as a game in general they have come pretty far from a graphic standpoint and the things you can do as a user, the moves and stuff you can pull off, but what I am taking about is changing the way we play and the way the AI plays against us. I have not been immersed into a basketball sim yet. Not even 2K has sucked me into that "experience" that they talk about every year. Presentation, gameplay all that is okay but not spectacular the way it is hyped up. I found myself skipping through the Sprint momentum play by play by Doris Burke the halftime report I skip, and the intermissions with other teams that are playing report gets skipped. Even the intros I skipped after a month.

they are making claims about simulation, gameplay experience, ESPN this, Sprite that, and neither Live or 2K has really showed up. Live especially, these dudes been out the game for two years and their build is below average at this point and they don't have very long to go to launch and I fear for them. look how long its been that we have played these basketball games. Just sit and think about it. What are they waiting for, Next Gen consoles? I hope not because we will be right back here again, all next gen is going to be is graphic enhancement.

Its been a very long time for these basketball sims and we are still being tickled with gameplay and visuals. Just think about it as a consumer. Does anyone feel cheated but me? Just my opinion either 2K and maybe Live for that matter are holding back for something big for next year because it is not this year and I can guarantee that based on what I have seen so far and we all know they don't have a whole lot of time to scrap and build again before launch or in reality they have reached their CEILING.

Both games in my opinion need an EXTREME MAKEOVER from player models not just faces, to presentation and commentary adaptability, replays and halftime reports, a real deep and immersive Dynasty mode, deep and immersive Create a player not just my player but create a player in Dynasty mode, Olympic games and teams not in a mode only but also into the deep and immersive Dynasty mode and so on. Its been 13 years?!!??

I don't even know where to begin... First of all they don't spend more money on marketing than gameplay. They don't need to rebuild, the commentary is excellent and they haven't reached their ceiling. Simulation is defined as "To have or take on the appearance, form, or sound of; imitate". You said a lot of empty statements, for example the bold'd statement. What are you talking about when you say "think about it"? You said "they never showed up", what does that mean? To me it sounds like you have unrealistic expectations for these games. If you really want the true basketball experience go outside and play. I mean these games can only do but so much. I love 2k but nothing beats playing actual Basketball.

Thats exactly why I said some of you don't understand the how difficult it is to make a sport game. This genre is really difficult. You probably have played a shooter campaign, the ai in those games have to do WAY less than a sports games cpu players, all they have to do is shoot, take cover throw a grenade and reload.

A nba 2k cpu controlled player, has to rotate, set screens, play defense, run plays, react, block shots, use isomotion, rebound etc. Your basically asking the computer to think like a human. That programming is very difficult. To me the cpu AI in 2k12 was good, I liked 2k12. 2k11 was better. The teammates AI how ever needs a lot of work in 2k. But if you run plays and make your cpu teammates do less "thinking" you can run a realistic offense. But the AI from 2k has for the most part always been spot on. It needs improvement but every game always needs to improve the AI. So its not just 2k. Every company focuses on improving that aspect of their game.
