Some of you don't understand that sports games and shooters are completely different genres. A shooter is really simplistic compared to trying to replicate a sport. So many possibilities can happen in a sports game, just like in real life, everyone has to move and it can't be scripted like a shooter. Meaning no matter what when I press the melee I will kill my opponent, when I press a button in a sports game I'm not guarantee anything. They have to add so many things to the game just to make it look realistic. I don't expect 2k13 to not have issues, because I understand that sports games are highly complex. That's why Live 13 after two years is still not up to par. If game development was easy then everyone would do it. Stop comparing sport games to other genres of video games because they are not the same.We have to be reasonable people.

Your joking...right?

It continues to amaze me that so many people on here consider ratings to be the most important factor in how the game plays....when in reality its only a small part of it. The three things that have a much larger impact on the gameplay and how the CPU AI acts are 1. Player Tendencies 2. Sliders and 3. Playbooks. Ratings are important sure, but not nearly as important as those 3 things when it comes to realistic gameplay.

As a roster maker, I have to agree with you. You can edit ratings all you want, but if you want the players to play like their counterparts they need edit tendinces.

Good example from my roster people complain about passing, with everything edited I get good passing. Here is an example:

After watching E3 on Spike the other day I found a couple things from 2K12 that are in 2k13 that annoy me. Spacing still needs work, the CPU will instead of making a smart back door cut, will run towards you and there will be too much of a crowd to begin to make a scoring move. I still see the SG coming up court with the PG, which isn't a big thing, but it's a little annoying.
Players still celebrating essentially meaningless baskets. Unless your team is on a run and you just hit a 3 or they dunked all over someone, they shouldn't celebrate that much (or at all). Especially if they are a laid back type player. In the video I saw Manu make a layup and come up court with his arms up celebrating. Really? For a layup in the first quarter?
I also didn't see the CPU walk the ball up court, why are they always running? The bring the ball up court animations in 2K7 were about perfect...

Still thinking 2K13 will be a pretty good game because 2K12 was a little underwhelming and of course there is competition this year to boost the 2K team's work ethic.

Dude? That is not the final build. Beluba has already clarified that the build is pretty old. You can have your opinion but please don't spread false info. MAKING YOUR WORDS ALL CAPS DON"T MAKE THEM FACT

There should be nothing that shows you when to exactly release the shot during gameplay only in practice mode. if its in , please give option to turn it off and stick to your oldschool " learn the game" ways
I might be the only one but I have never even noticed that until you just pointed it out.

What's with the "calm down" comment? I'm not angry. I just know you have to be direct with these developers.

We hear this EVERY year. And not just about videos from early in the Summer. Even videos released within a MONTH of the release date is prefaced with the comment, "Don't worry guys. That's an older build from the demo. From like, July. WE TOTALLY FIXED THAT between now and then. Trust us, kay?"

I brought this up before, and others have agreed: we don't seem to get ANY footage of the final product before the game's release.

Wow at some of these somewhat harsh statements directed at Beluba. REALLY don't get this view that the 2K12 was so much of a disappointment that it merits some of these reactions - not even close. I can understand people being frustrated with something here or there but geez
...How was my comment harsh? I'm criticizing 2K's marketing strategies...WHICH EVERYONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH. I haven't said ANYTHING about the quality of 2k12, I haven't said ANYTHING bad about the footage we saw, I haven't made any accusations at the developers, and I DIDN'T insult beluba at all.

What I did was point out the crap that 2K's marketing has gotten away with for years...

What white glow effect/mechanic are you referring to?

White flash under the player's feet that's supposed to tell you when to release the ball on your jumpshot.

To be fair, I think there will be a huge difference from the videos we'll end up seeing in September and the video we saw last night. There was a large difference between the 2K12 we saw with Kobe's Move presentation in June last year and the videos we saw months later.

If September rolls around and videos are released of the game, I think it's a little more understandable to raise complaints when they're present. At that point, most of the changes have been implemented. In June, it usually seems as if virtually none of the changes have yet been implemented (aside from new layup or shot animations). Complaining about the video footage from what we saw last night is like complaining about your pizza not being cooked before anyone had the chance to throw it in the oven.

Also, not to disagree for the sake of disagreement, but I feel as though we see "finished product" videos of 2K every year prior to release. I cannot recall the last time 2K was released without my knowing exactly what it was going to look like from prior videos.

I'm really concerned about the 2k community as I read some of these comments.

To be fair; the "older build" talk usually comes from users on this forum, not from the developers.

About never seeing the final product; that's true of 99% of all games, and movies. You NEVER get snippets of the version that's gonns ship. Ever.
