Hi Mike thanks for this info.
Do you plan to bring back "aggressive" Double Teams by CPu & "in Paint" hard contacts?

Regards

And with that, I'm going to trust the Wang.... that doesn't sound right, lol he is number one when it comes to this

It's early, i know...but i wonder if 2k will make something new in next 2 months knowing that they took this time only to activate Online Association option on nba2k web. Looks the same of 2k12 changing score and players' names interface.

Despite it all,i will give some credit to 2k and their work this months..

PD: Perkins running the floor faster than small players OMG!

lol yeah...early in the clip I thought it was Ibaka who got that blocked shot but when you look again it was Durant...

I really believe that if the player models had different size legs they would look more proportioned...right now everyone has them beefy calves..

one of WTF pics from the pc thread...it looks great in motion

You mean AFTER we shelled out 60 bucks for it, or are you guys going to actually shows us footage of the final product before you send it out? Because I do recall seeing VERY little actual gameplay for the final version of 2k12 before I actually had the bloody thing in my hands.

*sigh* No one forced you to make an uninformed purchase decision. Maybe you should show some responsibility as a consumer.

Wow at some of these somewhat harsh statements directed at Beluba. REALLY don't get this view that the 2K12 was so much of a disappointment that it merits some of these reactions - not even close. I can understand people being frustrated with something here or there but geez

Label me a fan boy, I don't care but some of y'all need to pump your brakes! Half of y'all don't even come on OS regularly enough to even talk this nonsense. We're trying to be responsible in this forum and not trying to ruin the direct contact we have with the video game companies like other games have around here.

If you didn't like what you saw, cool, go inside the other game's forum and watch what they have. If you don't like either, don't buy them. But don't talk out the side of your neck and cause them to start viewing our forum as a joke.

On topic: I didn't like what I saw in the video. On the Ginobli drive I felt more contact should happen in the paint, he still had defenders around him. At least have them contend the shot -- and it also looked like it slid right by Harden. That was really hard to note since Harden was user controlled and seemed to put his arms up the moment Ginobli started going by. At the end of the day, I'm not tripping, thanks for giving us something. Now when I come see this thing in Cologne, Germany in August, I hope it'll be a little bit more refined and I'll probably will be less forgiving.

I am with you there. Maybe they played with the default 2K Insider rosters that made the game seem not up to par but with a great roster set 2K12 is a great game. And I didn't think anything could stop 2K11.

I've been purchasing 2k every year for as long as I can remember, after putting 2k12 on the shelf for good the gameplay itself was very disappointing and left me uneasy about playing the next installment if its in the same engine. Player movement is sluggish and unnatural, it was impossible to play properly when playing man defense. The bump animations were a terrible inclusion and added to the sticky feel of the game. I'll wait till the finished product comes out, but I dont understand why 2k would release this video, and as it stands I don't feel like I will be buying 2k13.

The new scoreboard and stat overlays are nice though.

"Oh, no! Beluba. Why does James Harden look the same? And why is this that? That needs to be this!"
eh bruh yall chill with the its too early to judge stuff, something you want might get added if they dont shut up I actually love hearing the early constructive criticism, somebody gotta do it if you wont right? It actually gives ppl like me ideas and some may point out something you never even noticed and mike wang might see the comment and say dam........... lets add that shh right now! plus its better to do it early while its still a work in progress than to see later gameplay and it be to late for them to add it so yeh

Wow, really disappointing. Have been playing 2k since the Dreamcast days and it seems like they don't even try anymore.
I don't care about graphics and animations, they are good enough for me, but it seems like the developers don't even want this game to look like real basketball.

Just take 2k12 out of the box and try to get realistic stats for
CPU vs CPU...won't happen! Some plays are completely broken for the AI. Try Dirk with assigning High Post and PnR...you're lucky if he takes 10 shots in 40 minutes. Once a player goes into that canned post-up animation, there's no fighting for position. Players simply have no situational awareness at all.
A shooter like Ray Allen won't get his touches off screens on any difficulty above Pro because these plays won't work for the AI.
Like the opposite of 2k11, where Durant would take 20 3s a game because double-sceen plays were unstoppable because of non-existant awareness causing players to be stuck in the screen everytime.

And now we get the same bumping animations on defense which means you can essentially run into a defender and the animation gives you a bit more space everytime because of the defender pushed towards the basket?
AI players still not realizing you should lock down the paint with a guard isoation with 5 seconds on the clock?
So we're getting the same game all over again? Unstoppable guards jacking off shots with maybe 10 assists per team with 12 minutes quarters?

I remember form 2k to 2k3 I had the impression these guys really cared about making a great game. The street courts were nicely designed, personal player introductions gave it a real game feel and the gameplay was amazing for the time. So instead of implementing guitar heroes, 2k could focus on gameplay and add that content from the old games which was cut for no apparent reason...

I don't post often but damn, so much complaining and analyzing for a short clip of a game that is likely no where near complete. Every year people get their panties in a bunch and every year there is a quality game released. Sure there are always annoying issues (passing and fastbreaks, 2k12, I'm looking at you) but keep in mind that NBA basketball is a very dynamic game that is not the easiest to recreate.

There are always complaints that 2k shows nothing pre-release and now they surface with a little something MONTHS before they ever have and there are still complaints. We haven't even finished the 2012 Conference Finals yet! Give it time. I for one think it looks promising. ASW does look lame though...

Foot Planting - Not adressed. Players are still floating and sliding.
Over the head passing - Not adressed. (1:28)
Player models 'Heavy', non-athletic. - Not adressed.
Red Color is still off. So is blue. Nets and overall backboard gfx not adressed.
Manu dribbles the clock 20 seconds, bumps into JH once. twice. Harden denies him, wow, nice. then, with about 4 seconds on the clock, Manu just drives -STRAIGHT DAMN FORWARD- through the whole D. no help, nothing. through Harden. He makes a layup which he didn't even have to adjust. mmm.

"See you guys, gone working on 2k13" - Mike Wang's reaction on Twitter on 2k12 release day. So, I guess, some work, should have been put, over the last half year. Truth is, I can't see it.

And I'm not even started. Been playing since Cwebb on 2k2, I guess I'm too old for that stuff. Sold both my platforms, and not going to buy 2k for the first time in a decade. Meet me in the playground, where basketball players feet don't resemble buns.

Calm down. I saw plenty of vids before the game came out. There were plenty of vids and screens last september from 2k, da Czar and random people who got the game early. Also if you arent satisfied with the number of videos that came out before release, you can always wait until after release and more vids have been released to buy the game

If its not constructive it doesnt matter. The constructive comments get lost in the "Why doesnt James Harden have a mohawk" and "This looks like 2k12" comments. It may be time for another clamp down on the 2k forums.

At some point feedback is good but again, criticizing what we saw last night is akin to criticizing the rebuilding of a highway after only one of five lanes is finished. Sure, we could say, "Hey, um, you guys still haven't finished the other five lanes yet" but that probably wouldn't do a lot of good at this point. What we saw last night was still essentially 2K12, so any issues people have are likely already addressed in the Wishlist thread.

I'm not very knowledgeable on game development. However, I do recall many instances in the past where videos would be released in September and those would be from 2K builds that were multiple months old. Assuming this 2K13 clip wasn't just played up from a version of the game completed on June 3rd, the build we saw could easily be from May or earlier. Considering the game doesn't go gold (submitted for completion) until mid- to late September, I'd say just about everything possible has the potential to be added and adjusted. To assume nothing will change because it's too late in the game is way off base.

Regarding mid-August (as you brought up), I recall changes being made at that point and likely even later. Prior to 2K11's release, even small details were being adjusted right up until the end. For instance, Michael Jordan initially had a deep purple tongue. That was noticed and changed. In 2K12, LaPhonso Ellis' rights were secured in September and he was subsequently added. Further, when the demo for one of the recent 2K's was released (2K11 or 2K12) every layup (even breakaways) bounced off the high glass before going in. That was also acknowledged and adjusted prior to true release. So I feel if small stuff can be altered deep into September, I'm certain big stuff is going to be happening in May.

That comment is clearly open to interpretation so I can't fault you for taking it the way you took it. However, as someone who lived through ESPN NBA Basketball 2004 (2K's sequel to NBA 2K3) I interpreted that comment as him saying 2K wasn't going to drastically change the direction of their game. Nine years ago, NBA 2K3 was a simulation on the rise, so what'd they do for 2K4? They changed the name and essentially turned it into a dumbed-down streetball contest featuring double pump reverse dunks via Elden Campbelll at a standstill.

So again, to me, "more of the same" means they're going to try to continue making an excellent NBA basketball simulation. I honestly don't think he was trying to say, "Welp, our internet connectivity was pretty much non-existent in 2K12. As such, many of the features we lauded, such as dynamic art updates, YouTube uploads, and Pressbook shares, barely worked or flat out did not function. It sounds like the fans absolutely loved that so we assure you, we plan on more of the same. This year, we plan on making things work even less good. Yes, you heard me right, less good. So keep an eye out for that."

I agree, and I was complaining as well, but we should be grateful that they are showing and giving early information, 2k12 info came in the 11th hour, so thank you beluba and the rest of 2k for trying to give us a early look. I see why devs don't want to show early gameplay, because of the irrational hardcore audience. This wasn't for the casual 2k gamers, this was for us here on the forums talking about 2k13 every day. I wouldn't even be upset if 2k with held some info because of the bashing that took place here and other forums.

The most disapointing thing of this video is player models, speed still not a factor (Perkins keeping up with westrbrook on the fastbreak) and Gino slipping through the defense at the end.

They got some time to fix it though, I hope they will.

This^ x100000000000000000000000000000000000.

I cannot stand the lack of perimeter contact in 2K12. Half the time the player just slides right through your defender. 2K11 had bumping on the perimeter darn near perfect. Then people cried about it and they took it out. SMH. Cmon devs sometimes you gotta grab your balls and say screw it we're gonna make this game as realistic as possible darn it.

Bring back realistic bumping and contact!
