There are still too many interceptions to jumping linebackers. It also happens with DE's who drop into coverage. Their jumping ability is no longer superhuman when it happens but it happens WAY too often.
The degree of difficulty for a linebacker to go from strafing in coverage to getting his feet set and reaching his peak vertical (and reacting to catch a ball at the peak of his vertical) is very high.
It's something that is nearly impossible for a 290 pound defensive end to pull of but that happens regularly too.
I know that it does happen in real life but this is a "spectacular catch" for a linebacker and should happen once every 25 games, not once a game.
I've played this demo a ton and yes it does have its flaws but it is a demo. But I can't wait to get a roster update and some good sliders cause this game will be a blast to play.
Thought I'd try my method again of punting on 1st down and just calling the defensive plays, controlling no player.
This time instead of calling 2 man under I went for cover 3 no matter what formation i was in or Oregon.
First game was 11-0 to me Texas, 2 safety's because Oregon's QB thought he had all day to throw while standing in the endzone.
Second game was 16-10 to Texas(me).
Even just calling cover 3 all game I blew up their option runs. Seemed to think he had all day to pass and got sacked a lot.
QB only scrambled once in each 4 games apart from the last when he did it 4 times which shocked and impressed me.
So in both these games I outscored Oregon 26-10 by just calling defensive plays. In all 5 games played I've outscored Oregon 43-20 in 40 minutes of action.
How can this be ?
I would really like someone else to try this as it means being a defensive coordinator will be easy picking one play all game.
I thought your one play defense had to be BS, but I decided I would see what happened. On AA using Alabama I called 3-4 Cover 2 every play. Sure enough, Florida State didn't even get a first down. Ended up winning 21-0, two offensives scores andi a qb fumble my d took to the house.
I was only going to gamefly for a month or so anyways, but after seeing this I'm gonna pass and wait to see how Madden plays.
So after reading those last couple posts I decided to pop the demo on and try a little experiment myself.
I noticed when I first got the demo and played 20+ games that frst night that hitches seemed unstoppable. Man wouldnt stop it, zone defenders wouldnt be close they would just stand 3 yards behind the guy and let him catch it.
I just played a game, on AA, Bama (me) vs FSU, and won 14-0. I ran 3-4 normal cover 3 every single time, didnt control a defender, and on offense I would call different plays with a hitch route in them and only throw the hitch route no matter what. I completed every single pass except one time I was sacked.

It's easy to fix
Every year i lower their SPC and CIT Ratings and the problem is solved....
Load up any default roster and you'll LB's flooded in NCAA with a SPC rating of 50 or higher.....some of them come close to having borderline SPC ratings as high as some top WR's in the game
Lower those ratings + INT Slider and you'll see that happen just as you stated once every 25 games

It's good that you can make edits, etc. To help make the game better for you. But considering that many of us strictly play Online Dynasty and are unable to edit ratings in OD, these temporary fixes don't do anything for us.
Ratings edits are not a permanent cure for these issues which is why it's important to get these adjusted via patches and tuner sets.
Hopefully CPU generated recruits are designed in a more position specific manner to avoid this.
Just won a game 7-3 in the last 26 secs against FSU. I was shut down the whole time. I gave up a FG. With 46 secs. I had to go either 70 yards for a TD or a FG. I got shut down and sacked the 1st 3 plays. It was 4th and 20, I completed a CLutch play(had no faith). My WR was able to beat the press and get up on a Streak for a first down. 12 secs. I went to the same WR, he was able to beat the press again in consecutive plays. On this play he scored a huge TD with 6 secs left. I kicked a Squib leaving 3 secs left. They went for a Hail Mary and the (and a few WRs)was able to beat my prevent D and caught the ball 10 yards from the endzone. But He had to come back to catch the ball and got tackled and the game was over. If the QB threw it a 2 or 3 yards further They wouldve won the game

I'm glad someone else tried my experiment , now I know you had the same results as me I find it very worrying that this can happen.
I just tried this again and it didn't work. I lost to Oregon 21-7. I will continue to test as I am intrigued
Let me remind you of the rules I set , I was Texas , punted on every 1st down to give the ball straight back to Oregon. Controlled no player/s. Basically played like a Defensive coordinator.
I always matched their formation , so if they came out in trips I would nickel , if they came out in 4 wide I would dime , BUT always called the same play.
3 games of 2 man under , 2 of cover 3 and 1 of cover 2.
I only lost 1 game like this but it was how easy it was to stop them that worried me. Their normal running plays were ok and had some success passing but the option game was killed every game.
The cpu/ai never adjusted to my one play for the whole game.
If you read back I give a little more detail of what happened in the game. And all games were played on AA or Heisman.

I just don't understand the logic in this. It seems like you are trying to break the game intentionally. I would have never known about any of this if I didn't come into this thread.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing you for doing this. You can play the game however you want. I just don't get why people go out of their way to find flaws.

My experiment started out some what by accident, i intended to punt on every first down so I could see more of Oregon's offense (after all 2 minute quarters are not enough to go by), after 2 plays on D i had called 2 man under twice and then thought sod it, I'll call it every play. And I was some what shocked by the results so i did it again and again.
What the results showed is the cpu/ai never learned or adjusted to what I was doing , and more importantly if you are deciding to play as a D coordinator on coach mode , what is the point ?
I'm glad someone else tried my experiment , now I know you had the same results as me I find it very worrying that this can happen.
The way you explained the way you did it is way different than the poster you quoted. He called one play all day long, you called whatever the formation came out in, 3-4, 4-3, nickel, dime, etc....
Not the same, I'll try this later, but it's such a small sample size with 2 minute quarters. Heck, the CPU is in hurry up with 1:30 every half, that's not realistic, either.

I called the same play from formation which matched up to what the cpu/ai was doing ( nickel to trips , dime to 4 wide), I know the other poster called the same play from the same formation , but he had same results. That is not way different.
2 minute quarters is not enough so thats why I did it 5 times as explained.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. Before deleting the demo, I was 5-3 playing on AA. I was playing offense and picking all sorts of different defensive plays. I've had all kinds of mixed results. Low scoring game, shut outs, etc. It's a small sample size but, with those results I don't see the point in punting on 1st Down or calling the same defensive play, etc.

Still a small sample size. It's less than 1 game irl.
I wouldn't do this sampling while playing dynasty, so, won't bother me at all.

To be fair, what he did wasn't really going out of his way, it was just doing what worked best. In this case calling the same play seemed to work best.
He explained why he punted so I do not feel the need to repeat it.
