After reading all of these impressions it seems like KO's are pretty common now.. Are fights still going the distance, or for the most part are they being finished now? What I liked about the game prior to this patch is that it was fairly common to go the full 10 or 12 rounds. The only time you would get a KO is when you're absolutely outclassing your opponent, which is realistic.
A fight going the distance is heavily dependent on both fighters conserving their stamina.

Of course you can bank stamina and still get your head rocked enough to severely dent your health bar.

I've definitely had fights go to distance...some I won and some I lost. Like dude said it depends on how the two fighters. Great mixture for me.

THIS^^

I have to give EA credit for what I hope is their finally tuner set. It would be too risky to expect anything better.

Normally i wouldn't contaminate OS with anything from the EA forums here but this video needs to be posted...

The AI in that video is unbelievably broken...

don't even get me started on the scoring...10-8 round on 1 punch landed...lol

I want to know what offline players have to say about the new gameplay tweaks...

Is it as horrific as that video indicates?

If they would have made sure the offline was back up to par I would pick up again today. To bad they let that part of the single player experience wilt in the heat.

I am very happy some of you guys are enjoying the game again.

Take care and see you guys when the next edition comes out.

I am going to enjoy the mess out of it for another week until my fav game hits the shelf at 12:01 Tuesday morning. Then it will collect some dust and come out every now and then lol..

I love his Mercedes analogy lol. Think how many people would be happier if we had the option to choose which update we wanted to use, at least for offline gameplay. If you think outside the context of console gaming, it's kinda ludicrous that we DON'T have that option. At least with PC gaming you can uninstall and reinstall the patch of your choice...

Edit: ...and yes, offline is horrifically flawed. The punch output slider is essentially there as a placebo, as it does nothing. Unless you tweak the hell out of each boxer's AI tendencies, it's atrocious.

when the game came out.....stamina was too high, and tendencies of the fighters led to too high punch output.
RESULT: competitive arcade fights between cpu and human....90 punches a round affairs with little consequence.

When the latest patch came out: stamina was as close as possible to real-life stamina, but tendencies of the cpu fighters still were too high.
RESULT: Video shown above

Cpu would punch itself out because they don't know that they're operating on realistic stamina, they still think its the forgiving stamina.....while the human knows. So the human player throws 50 punches a round compared to 90 punches a round like the cpu. By the 5th round, CPU gasses, easy KO.

It's a small hassle, but you need to edit each CPU fighter tendencies and get them to throw realistic amount. I edited Wlad, I edited Lennox, Tyson, pacman, etc and i'm having great fights OFFLINE, play now.

Played against Lennox and he threw 40-50 punches a round, kept his distance. Some rounds he threw 60, some 35....i was forced to be judicious as well for 2 reasons: if over-aggressive, I'll burn out and Lewis will feast on you if you just come at him swinging. Sometimes I threw LESS than Lewis.

5 minutes to fix one cpu player.....it really doesn't take long....

I wish i can videotape in good quality one of my offline fights.....it really is the closest experience to the real deal as far as all boxing games are concerned. Just needs some time and work to fix cpu fighters....

How are you tweaking them (which sliders, etc)?

punch tendency sliders , all of them.

reduce DRASTICALLY to see effects. for example, by eyeballing Tyson, he has 90/100 hook tendency....reduce it to 30/100 ( you can guesstimate the slider bar).....his jab tendency starts out at 30/100.....reduce to 10/100....66% percent decrease is what I aim, then fine tune it if something is still off.

For heavyweights: brawler type of fighters shouldn't be there....Tyson I changed from brawler to inside fighter.

Then you will also know the effects of the counter/aggressive slider.....play with that too until you know how it effects the cpu.

Cuts/swelling: reduce by 40 points on each, and you will get good results....Holyfield has high ratings on these and it was much harder to cut and swell him....Tyson swole up easier.

Once you play and experiment on 2-3 fighters, you will know what to do for the rest of the fighters provided you know their styles. I know a good deal, but aint no expert....some guys here with top knowledge can get this right to a science I am sure.

hope this helps....

What about the cpu generated fighters in legacy mode? I literally never touch play now mode. This would be great if it can be utilized in my Legacy. What say you? Thanks.

What base sliders do you use? GOAT difficulty?

Good to hear some sliders actually do work...

These devs have clearly demonstrated a complete disregard for offline...

If i owned this game i would consider starting a community project aimed at fixing offline utilizing your method...I understand how some people may think its a waste of time since EA ninja tuners the game every other week but its better than doing nothing and waiting for a patch that is never coming...

# 158 NYG_Meth @ 07/04/11 03:14 PM
Now the biggest flaw is the lack of physical damage. CABS suffer literally zero damage since they're cut and swelling ratings always revert back to 99 after you edit them. I significantly lowered other licensed fighters' ratings, and haven't seen much damage there either...

# 159 JayBee74 @ 07/04/11 08:59 PM
I increased BOX POWER to 8, CPU OFF AWR to 8, and CPU DEF AWR to 6. (GOAT)
I then applied phillyfans one third individual punch tendency to Marvin Hagler.

Using Kelly Pavlik I knocked Hagler down three times and out in the final round.

We were both at exactly 50% stamina at the end of the ninth round.

HAGLER- 203-440, 46%, Power- 75-162- 46%
PAVLIK- 226-661, 34%, Power- 15-68-22%

Hagler's Endurance/Conditioning ratings are 96/98. Pavlik's are 88/90.

Hagler threw a lot of "power modifiers" but even with Boxer Power up to 8 Pavlik was never hurt. The extra 94 "power modifiers" could offset some of the extra 221 punches Pavlik threw, but Hagler's Boxer/Puncher style had him backward a lot in this fight.

The bodysnatcher/headhunter tendency slider has VERY LITTLE effect. Even with it turned all the way to headhunter, the AI still throws an absurd amount of body punches. What the hell is this!?!?!?
