Anyone have any tips for how to find a Boxer's range? I want to "master" Lennox Lewis and sometimes will take some heavy blows trying to figure out the distance I need to keep to land the jabs and straights while avoiding the opposing boxer's punches.

thanks for the explanations Jaybee regarding hagler....people need to play with the ratings to get the right mix. Now we know what to do to make boxer/punchers aggressive....

The game can really be good if every single boxer is edited like this...with 2 close rated fighters, you can get different outcomes and different feels in fights with playing the same matchups. In the past, if I used Holyfield and beat up and figured out Tyson, that's it, I'd win all of the matchups in the future. But the danger of stuns, knockdowns, flash knockouts, tiring out by missing too many punches keeps this game fresh.

I played 5 straight fights between Lennox and Holyfield. I am Lennox

W (decision)
L ( Ko)
W (flash KO)
L(decision)
L (decision)

maybe create a separate thread specifically for these edits for offline ?? because honestly, the game offline has some big-time potential with proper editing.

You're welcome and I agree.

I agree. I'm done with online for now, but I'm playing a lot offline.

Make sure you're not lunging forward with your punches. If you can connect with a jab without pressing the left stick toward your opponent, that's the range you want. Try and keep that range by circling and stepping back when necessary.

Thanks.

Also if any of you posted the rating changes you've made, it would be greatly appreciated. While I'm a very general fan of boxing, I'd have no clue the details of these ratings and styles of some of the newer fighters.

Single Punches******************Combinations (Kept at 95)
Fast Punches********************Hard Punches (35 to 23)

Pavlik (ME) won a grueling 95-94 majority decision. I kept him as a Boxer/Puncher, but the most drastic change was putting his aggression in overdrive (15 CP to 90 AGR). I didn't mess with any of Hagler's skills and kept his various punch frequencies the same. I might tweak his aggressiveness later, but it was a good fight. He kept coming at the end and stunned me with 10 seconds left in the fight.

His Boxer/Puncher style had him backing off at times, but with Aggressiveness up to 90 his more forward direction had him with a 49% to 41% stamina edge over Pavlik entering the 10th round.

I think any boxer/puncher needs more aggressiveness to have him forward more and backing up less.

Look at my counters 2-7-terrible.

Going more inside fighter (62 to 40) had something to do with his more forward movement too.

As you didn't lower any of the punch frequencies, I would have thought that the CPU would throw too many punches and gas in the mid-rounds, but Hagler threw 60 a round on average. How did you get this CPU output so low?

Also, I was wondering if anyone has increased endurance and conditioning ratings for the AI boxers, in a bit to stop them from losing to much stamina.

In one fight (default individual boxer sliders) I was Foreman against AI Tyson, and I easily finished him in the 7th round, as he gassed from throwing 70 a round. Tyson was stalking me, and I held the centre and tried to get just enough distance to land hooks & uppercuts without him reaching me.

Straight after I was Wlad against AI Lewis, again with default individual boxer sliders, and Lewis threw around 25 punches a round on average. We were both trying to fight on the outside and establish the jab, so it led to a tense affair. Also, stamina-wise we were both fine. First match ended in a draw, whilst the second was a flash KO for Lewis on Wlad in the 7th, which both seemed reasonable.

I'm going to create a guy for online heavyweight where he has one maxed out punch, has high head movement, high blocking and a good jab. It's my conclusion that if you can keep your fighter in good health, you can knock these body favored punchers out in the later rounds.

I just have such a hard time circling these pressure guys without it coming across like I'm running from them. But without my middleweight having a KO punch, he just can't keep these guys off.

It's virtually impossible

Long time since I been in this forum but I must say guys. I AM SOOO GLAD I SOLD THE GAME AND GOT OUT THIS DISASTER EARLY!!! They went from having a pretty great game with the first release just needing a few tweaks to completely changing and destroying the game.

All the bugs the game had with freezing and lock ups is completely inexcusable then you throw in the fact the game has done multiple 180s in the gameplay department and I completely agree with Dave. It truly felt like a Beta-testing of gigantic proportions.

Honestly one of the most disappointing releases this year. So much potential but lack of clear direction from dev team. This ranks up there with the horrible release of UFC 2010 in my book. This worst part is at least I could play UFC 2010 without it locking up my 360

Its all about the punching Power Slider now.....move that to 9 or 10 and there will be blood

I do see damage online. It's a little low, but i'm actually pretty pleased with it. If i'm landing a lot of straights, my opponents face will be bruised and red.

Today, I opened a nasty cut on my opponent in OWC and it was bleeding everywhere. Blood was rolling down his cheek and onto his chest.

No swelling though, and CABs are locked at 99 cuts and swelling

I've pretty much given up online and switched back to legacy mode. I started my OWC over and went 5-0 out of the gate, but the way I'm forced to play and the way some of these other dudes play the game annoys me to no end lol.

I'm sitting there like "oh my god, dude are you actually going to box and make this look somewhat like a boxing match or are you just going to keep throwing punches at my body till I'm finally tired?"

Along with the gameplay, I actually like the look of the boxing matches. I'm not too concerned with winning or losing. I like it to look like I'm watching a match on tv. The only way I can get that is pretty much offline or one of the few sim players I occasionally run across (very few and far between)

offline can be great with proper editing
online- most people say it favors the simheads

you might have liked thi latest patch, because all the patches/tuners after release to me were bad like you said. But this patch....makes the game super enjoyable offline at least, need to play more online to judge

# 197 DaveDQ @ 07/09/11 10:38 AM
I gave my guy a one punch ko ability with his uppercut and that greatly helps against body heavy punchers. Still, if you face a guy that knows how to spam the body its really hard to stop them. But for the most part you can ko these guys that throw heavy.

Encouraged by my latest experiment. First off the stats:

The fatigue factor: At the end of 8 rounds Hagler (CPU) 60%, Pavlik (ME) 50% despite Hagler throwing 75 more punches. Almost even in power modifiers. Sounds right considering Haglers conditioning is substanially better than Pavlik's.Hagler was leading 77-73 on all cards before the knockout.

Next the settings:

Boxer Power (7)- The difference between 7 and 8 is like night and day. 8 is too high, and it vastly favors the human over the CPU. Don't ask me why but it does. Hagler had no trouble putting it to Pavlik, but I only got Marvins "consciousness bar" down to a half an inch only once. You can KO him, you can hurt him but it's not easy.

CPU OFF Awareness -(6)

CPU Punch Output (0)

Hagler Settings:

Body Snatcher********************Head Hunter (100)

Counter Puncher******************** Aggressive (70)

Single Punches********************Combos (95)

Fast Punches********************Hard Punches (15)

Inside Fighter********************Outside Fighter (40)

I thought Hagler's movement was almost perfect for a Boxer/Puncher. He moved in and out, without overly pressing (at times he did though) and without sacrificing a lot of stamina. His body punching obviously took down Pavlik's stamina a bit.

EDIT: REMATCH

Quite similar stat wise. After 7 Hagler had a 66%-56% stamina advantage.

Different fight though. I knocked Hagler down in the 1st, and was on my way to winning the first 3 rounds when he knocked me down with 15 seconds left in round 3. I hurt him in the 6th but he was in pretty good control of the fight leading 67-63 on all cards.

I like how Hagler isn't showing too high a punch output in your bouts. Is this still with the default punch tendencies? If the punch output is realistic for the CPU, this will obviously help with the low stamina.
