Yea, I'm adjusting my style up now to compensate for the change. I dont back up as far as I use to. Starting to knock bums out again.

Actually I was. It was a close fight going into the 9th...probably tied and I dropped him. So, I had a slight lead going into the 10th where I finished him off. Even with his smothering style he managed to throw 900+ punches. What I ended up doing was sticking and moving as best I could without overdoing it. When he would fire off shots I would fire off as well. But, I also began to push him off me as well as tie him up after I would fire at him.

Also, my best friend and I played offline head to head last night too. He hasn't found a way to adjust to the new stamina yet. So, going into our fight ANdre Dirrell(me) vs. Nathan Cleverly(him), he decides that he is gonna put his ear muffs on. His strategy was to move as minimal as possible, keep the ear muffs on....lean forward and back and fire out of that position. For the first 4 rounds he was frustrating me to no end because offensively I couldn't get through like I wanted to. He was winning rounds because I wasn't connecting at a high rate on my shots and he was pot shotting me. So, in the 5th round I decided to get physically aggressive with him. I went BHop on him. I started pushing him and when his guard opened up I would tag him quickly and move. I also started tying him up and I saw that once we broke he would try to fire quickly and when he did I would dodge and tag him. All that leaning and having the ear muffs on was still affecting his stamina as well as missed punches. I ended up taking the next 7 out of 8 rounds(we play 12rds) and won a unanimous decision. Going into the 12th I had 69% stamina and for the fight I only threw like 600 punches.

My boy was very upset lol!! He said that the game won't allow him to be him. I said all you did was keep the ear muffs on and pot shot. You weren't boxing...you wouldn't engage me hardly at all!

Just fought a dude online where he came out throwing wildly...high volume amount of punches. By the 3 round he was tired and I 1 punck KOed him with a plain straight right. I know these one punch knockouts don't happen alot but I gotta tell you...It's Highly Rewarding when you do it LOL!!!

It is a fact that stick n move, outside boxing, takes much more energy than pretty much any other style, and even with the stamina changes, I stick n move and have 20%+ more stamina than my oponent in the late rounds. Maybe it's skill? Taking breaks were you should? Not throwing 120 punches per round? I'm also recovering more stamina than my opponents in between rounds, while winning rounds. IRL Both fighters in a good fight will have their hands lower and lower late in the fight and barely be able to walk afterwards. those 2 fights you showed are proof of it, if you watch the whole fight.

Leaning on each other, tying up alot, flailing elbow punches, and they weren't throwing 100+ punches per round like most people are doing in FNC.
I'm not talking about punch output, I'm specifically talking about movement. I've seen the whole fight and they both took some punishment, which is why they were out of it.

Look at Mosley in the late rounds here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MI9Z1dpGnoc

Still on his feet, still moving. Of course there's a reduction in speed, but the point is the constant movement doesn't effect them as much as it does in FNC.

All I know is for the first time in OWC, I am not getting murdered in the first round by overpowered CABs, and that is enough for me to say this patch is a win.

I couldn't jab him and move, he'd just block and walk through it, and once he was inside, there's nothing I could do to get back out of range. As a real-life boxer, this is a slap in the face.
I totally agree with you ...

I kinda let the game sit, until I saw this thread yesterday. Set up some CPU vs CPU matches to see how those looked. Then took Lewis against Tyson. I kept my distance and made sure not to take any big hits from him, KO'd him. I'm starting to like this as much as I did FN3, which was my favorite.

Off Topic: anyone else cringe when they see Tyson coming w/ that crazy overhand(?).

Jab spamming is still here in full effect. I just fought a guy who threw nothing but jabs the entire fight. He would switch up the spamming from the head to the body. I figured he would tire out quickly, but this was not the case. It tired me out a lot quicker than he did.

My question is, what is the best way to counter the body spam? It seemed like I couldn't hit him. I would hop back and throw a straight or a hook and they would seem to miss the majority of the time.

After playing plus 50 matches with the new patch, I still think this is the best the game has been.......But one thing i'm seeing a lot now is the game becoming a body punch match. A way to stop the body spamming (and what they got right on fight night round 4) is stop having head shots being off-set by so many body punches.........There's a reason why 90% of punches in real life are head punches.......beacause when you throw body punches your head is exsposed......And you really don't get penalized for attempting to throw body punches.......If you toned down the body punches off-setting head punches, BOOM problem solved.

Online head to head, Pavlik(me) vs Bradley(jab and body spamming cheeser at the controls) Pavlik by KO in the 6th. Old 1-2's, step back counter right hand, with uppercuts when he got in close. I had 85% stamina when I KO'd him.

Online head to head take 2, Vitali K.(me) vs Mike Tyson(body spammer) Vitali by KO in the 4th. Stood at range and popped him with whatever I wanted while he spammed body jabs and strights into the air.

My first 2 FNC matches played online, ever, and I get 2 cheesers using the fastest fighters they can pick for body spam, beat both with outside fighting using slow fighters, using timing and movement. Had no issues with stamina, in fact they were burning more by punching air than I was for hit and run fighting. 1 of them even messaged me saying I was cheeser while I'm throwing 4-6 punch combos, circling, and maintaining range. This is the type of guy flooding the EA forums and F'n up your online game fellas, b**** at those guys not the devs. The devs are clearly doing everything they can to combat players like this, but there are millions of them. Far more of them than us.

I normally don't play FNC online but wanted to see what all the complaining was about, and the cheesewhiz was pretty easy to counter. I could see it being a problem before this update, but it appears they have given you the tools needed to beat spammers.

Pretty much the same exp I have been having just using different fighters.

I have won my last 2 fights with ease and stamina has not been an issue. I am loving this game right now and think the game is just right. Best Boxing game online that I have played.

Just needed to give you props. That was probably the best post, or at least best paragraph within a post I've ever read. You seem to be one of only a few people that actually get why EA is "overreacting" so much.

Taking what you said a step further. This absolutely is the type that's going onto the EA forums and complaining and getting things changed, Cynick is right about that. Meanwhile, Cynick took his win, read this guys message and laughed, and moved on. Didn't post anywhere about how this guy was still trying to body spam or whatever. The types of people that post on the EA forums wanting "fixes" are more often than not that type of player. The ones that get the %#^# beat out of them by a sim player and immediately go whine on the EA boards.

We, as sim players, are severely outnumbered by idiots. That's not something that's ever going to change.

Just played this for the first time online, quick ranked matches. I used Lewis both times. I see hooks are the punch of use online.

First guy used RJJr. His speed messed me up for the 1st round. I took too many shots the first 2 rounds and resulted in me getting KO'd later on. It was mainly body hooks. I learned the awesomeness of the push button.

2nd fight the guys used Hopkins. I made sure to keep my distance, use the little bob and weave move and KO'd him with a nice hook. This is definitely a fun game now.

Anyone have any tips on how to stop the body hook guys who use fast boxers?

# 138 TarHeelPhenom @ 07/03/11 02:52 PM
This is by far the most fun I've had with this game and IMO the best the game has played since I had it. I've had every type of match you could possibly have with the exception of a fight getting stopped by cuts. I'm not just saying it because I'm winning either lol! I'm 11-4 in my last 15 since the new patch...two of those coming in my first two fights after the patch dropped. I've had a few decisions, 1punch ko's and other KO's. It's just been fun to play so far. I feel I can go into every fight believing I have a chance to win regardless of who I'm fighting and at the end of the day that's all I ask. You don't get penalized anymore for boxing the right way!!!

I believe the "Broadcast" camera.

# 140 Lakers 24 7 @ 07/03/11 03:50 PM
I'm not sure exactly what camera angle he was using, sorry.

After reading all of these impressions it seems like KO's are pretty common now.. Are fights still going the distance, or for the most part are they being finished now? What I liked about the game prior to this patch is that it was fairly common to go the full 10 or 12 rounds. The only time you would get a KO is when you're absolutely outclassing your opponent, which is realistic.
