MLB 11 The Show News Post

This is a very very late addition/change to MLB 11 The Show. Kolbe and Jeff Ulman, one of our senior AI programmers, went into the cave this past weekend and re-wrote a massive amount of code for trades and off-season logic for franchise mode.

Here's hoping!

I know that Kolbe said that SCEA created players....can't be put into the Vault...I'm guessing they mean their "from scratch" players.
Now...in some cases...during the season...they take a gen player and create a new entry into the MLB.....I'm not sure if those guys can go into the Vault.
I also don't know...if...you download an update....you can export an SCEA player to your own XMB and then import him onto another roster WITHOUT using the Vault as the go between.
I didn't think to try that at the event.

Well...if you mean during franchise...The Vault will not work with in progress franchises this year. It was causing crashes to existing franchises in progress so just two weeks before we got there...they had to scrap that portion. It's going to be for pre-franchise rosters only for '11.
I meant to say HDD(the PS3's hard drive). I'm wondering if we can export an SCEA created player to there from one roster and import him onto another..only on your own machine....since they can't be placed in the Vault.

And then after you put out your rosters I could copy that player for all the Mark Priors or others in the minors that you create that technically are rookies. I just am talking about trying to replicate as close to I can the service time so that veterans are not winning Rookie of the Year and that they are free agents at the end of the season.
Okay...
We'll have to see.
You don't have to use the Vault to move a player from your HDD to your roster(it's like a roster save....it can be moved there by a USB drive...or just from on roster on your HDD).
I just don't know if it's just that we can't put SCEA players into the vault..or that we can also not import them into a different roster as well.
I'm hoping just the Vault.

I could have sworn Kolbe said the SCEA (MLB) players built from the ground up could not be exported at all. Only overwritten with created players.

But I do hope just the vault as well.

I would say...without the bar...or at least to have the option to shut off the bar...and add in the opposing GM responding to your FAIR offer(which I think shutting off the bar would force you to do...make a fair offer) with a "well it's not quite enough...we're looking for..."a good young pitcher with a future(an A/B rated SP)"...."a MLB ready SS"...."a vet with a big bat off the bench"..."a better package of prospect"...etc...would be better than just the plain bar IMO.

I'm with you on this one...but I think it may be nice to enter the trade screen, and have a listing of generic wants AND players the team really wants.

Every year and offseason, some GM's specifically request players in certain trades. I use the O's trade for Reynolds as an example. (I'm an O's fan, living in the AZ and I am very good friends with a couple guys who work for Kevin Towers...so this is true). The DBags explicitly told McPhail that Hernandez was a must have in the trade. The O's pulled the trigger.

It's be nice to know, right up front, that you should or shouldn't waste your time if the comp team has a specific want.

Yet here we get a tone of pretty nice upgrades and we see "I'll pass this year" stuff..??..??
Like Rachet and Clank or Spiro? Ugh, I hate those!

After playing 8 seasons in RTTS and (attribute wise) becoming one of the best players in the game, I had no intention of re-signing with the White Sox (who traded for me from Toronto) and I was waiting for the Phillies/Red Sox/Yankee offer of 18 to 20 million a year and nothing came. So I had to go to Yankee Spring Training.....will that NOT happen again? Thanx in advance....
Although the Giants logo is a bad decision...your name contains two intriguing things "cuse" and "girl" on a video game forum...are you really from the 'Cuse? If so, that's F'in awesome! Welcome from another CNYer.

I hope I am not though,

Out of curiosity since you are the Roster Jedi Master, what do you think the benefit would be to pulling them to the XMB? Not overwriting them, so they are there for re-insertion to the roster file? Or to get them to someone else via internet and USB?

I'd love something like this. This way you have an idea what teams you can trade with other than just spamming trades or monitoring the interest bar.

I try m best to play sim but when I need to trade for a 1B, I basically load up who I can get rid of and then start fishing for the best 1B available based on interest bar.

I was thinking that the restriction wasn't actually exporting them...but putting them in the Vault.(hoping).
This way....when SCEA had it's updates...you could download the entire roster...export the guy you want from the update(which wouldn't have all the other players you want on it)...and import him into your set.

Roger that. And is there a bigger example than Boston knocking down the Padre's door for Adrian?

Well there's a lot of things we want in Franchise and MOM mode for one thing.
No games perfect but what you can be sure of is that this crew listen and they want what we want, just as bad. They are constantly getting input and will improve the game each year.

So fo me that's why I'll be supporting them with a purchase every year. It's a no brainer this year on what has been improved from 10. Next years franchise upgrade/improvements will just keep adding to a great great game.

On the subject of franchise and rosters I am absolutely blown away by the devs hard work and dedication to go into the lab and rewrite code this late in the game. I was always buying this iteration, but this news just makes it that much more enjoyable, especially being a franchise guy predominately.

Now onto you Mr. Knight. Without a doubt you make the best minor league rosters, your work and dedication really change the quality of the game for the masses, but especially for myself and others like me. Why am I different you ask?

Because I am a die-hard Kansas City Royals fan. Only slightly less rare than Sasquatch.

Our 2011 team may very well lose 100 games. We lost ace Zach Greinke. Gil Meche retired. Our opening day starter may very well be Luke Hochever. The only way to stomach this season is by rebuilding through MLB the Show 2011.

This year Baseball America and just about every other respectable sports media outlet have rated our minor league system as the very best in baseball. With Kolbe & Jeff's recent upgrades and your rosters (which should feature the Royals #1 ranked farm club) I, and others like me, are still looking forward to the best season of digital baseball ever.

So please I beg you Knight, don't do the Royals faithful wrong, you are our last resort. All 11 of us are counting on you.

Don't worry about it. The Royals always had a good farm system and talent the past two years with Knight's rosters. Their AAA is going to be awesome. I think they'll have at least four or five A potential players, most notably Mike Moustakas, Mike Montgomery, and Eric Hosmer. I'm not too sure about Christian Colon and Wil Myers' recent news about him moving to the outfield, but I expect them to be one of the organizations stacked with B's and A's.
