MLB 11 The Show News Post

This is a very very late addition/change to MLB 11 The Show. Kolbe and Jeff Ulman, one of our senior AI programmers, went into the cave this past weekend and re-wrote a massive amount of code for trades and off-season logic for franchise mode.

I will probably do the same. I just think that with 12 being the "franchise" year, I will be content with 10 until 11 drops. I will still support SCEA and purchase their game, but will give it to my cousin as a birthday gift (its march 9th ). This team listens and owe them that much.

Can't wait until 12 drops now lol. Thank you knight and co. for all the info you have provided and the SCEA team for ALWAYS putting out a quality product.

Didn't Ramone say that the budget logic was also re-written? Knight you probably know more than I do, but I thought I remember him saying that it was.

I seriously don't understand the "I'll wait until " posts. The amount of upgrades (even some touched up logic in franchise) is staggering when you compare to other games.

I've never heard these comments in other game threads outside of sports. Some games people go gaga over when it's the same cookie cutter, minimal upgrade game.
Yet here we get a tone of pretty nice upgrades and we see "I'll pass this year" stuff..??..??

I have to respectfully disagree with you. Some people are ecstatic with the new upgrades to gameplay, player models, controls, and RTTS. Others, like myself, are more interested in franchise only. Sure, the new controls and player models are incorporated in franchise, but for the most part, it wasn't really touched. This is one of those "to each their own" type of things . I mean, if I was only into RTTS (like some people are), this would be a major upgrade for me.

So let's not start looking down upon people that love The Show 10 just because they aren't buying 11.

Personally, I will end up waiting until a month or so after release date. I just happen to have a lot going on around that time, and this also lets me get the low down from all the fellows on OS as well as time for the inevitable patches to release, and of course Knight's rosters to finish.
That's fine if they dont have the money but I've yet see that be the reason given.
Also i never look down on anyone. Dont want to support a company that actually improves their product and listens to us gamers then fine.

I also care the most about Franchise...but i choose to support developers that actually give a damn. The upgrades they are doing despite not major franchise stuff are still upgrades and not wasted time to give us things we never wanted.
To each their own.

I just haven't seen a reason to spend $60 to have to start my franchise over. I love that the developers seem to care so much about their game, but I only play franchise and it didn't get much work this year. Having a one-year old with another on the way, I don't have $60 to to spend on a product that will play substantially the same for me, even though I would love to have the graphical upgrades. With franchise rumored to be getting worked over for 2012, I feel like I'll be better off waiting until then to upgrade.

This. I'm 99% sure I would still buy the game if it was simply MLB 10 with a roster update. But, the developers made a strong effort to make the game better. I've bought this game on release since 06 and I will continue to support this game. I have not been disappointed AT ALL by the development team. Every video game, ESPECIALLY sports video games, has bugs when its release. What matters is if the development team makes an effort to fix those bugs. And SCEA has done that.

I'm certainly planning to rent the game and check it out. If enough of the other extras appeal to me (coop mode), I may pick it up.

This is pretty close to what I'm feeling as well. Unfortunately, $60 is a big chunk of change at this time of year.

Yes, 60.00 is a big chunk of change, there is no denying that. I guess just the little bit of what is modified, like trade logic, offseason logic, and I could of swore Ramone said something about Budget logic being rewritten. That alone to me is really good, b/c I think no longer, from what I understand will you be able to just dump old players for young studs and such, which mean, I think you have to choose your players a little big better. I know this year I am doing something a little different until 12'. I am going to do a more historical franchise, start at a certain year, and then play it out as that...just to give it a different spin.

Another reason to wait would be that any possible bugs or dislikes regarding the analog controls or any 'improvements' can be worked out in another year also.

I myself wasn't blown away with '10. I bought on launch day but seriously played it about 5 times until last October. I've been playing it since, Franchise only, compiling a mental wish-list of improvements.
Although, not expecting too much attention to the Franchise play, after hearing of the improvements and with the whole analog addition, I'll buy again on launch day this year...just because I am that big of a (baseball) fan. I figure, if it rocks, it rocks. And if it doesn't, it's still got to be somewhat better than '10, and IF '12 will be a huge year for Franchise improvements...then I can play the hell out of '11 and blast away on this forum and hope that '12 is even better. I am ecstatic that SCEA communicates with us here but don't put me in the "I'll buy it just to support them" category. Personally I only buy about 3 games a year tops, and I think The Show '11 warrants a buy from me. I wish I had waited on last year's but $60 didn't break me and I figure I'm getting my money's worth compiling my wish-list for future releases.
However, I don't blame anyone for wanting to rent it first or even sit out until next year. I totally understand.

The win - win situation will be the day we can import our franchises into the newest game. I have a hard time throwing away a franchise that I spent a lot of time investing in unless major upgrades R made. But some of the additions mentioned by Russell may be enough for me to get this years edition. Appreciate the work the developers put in but I dont feel the need to support yearly if my favorite mode has not been upgraded especially in this day of age when franchise/ dynasty modes seem to be an afterthought*cough* cough* Madden.

Agreed and the support is warranted for these guys. But since everyone is lumping themselves into a category...lump me into this is the only PS3 game I buy every year (Most likely a very small category). I probably buy 20-30 or more Blu-rays for it though a year! So it does actually get a little more use then just the show....not by much though.

I'm in the same boat. The only reason I bought a PS3 was for this game and I don't regret it at all. I play all my other games on the 360, however it's been worth every penny.

Did you read my post? I guess not. I said I "will" support the developers by buying the game and giving it as a gift (and yes, because they give a damn). The game is still supported by even those who will not purchase this game. People fell in love with their franchise and rosters that knight created (i.e. 2000 set) that $60 may not warrant a purchase this year. As I said, to each their own.

Where did I say you weren't buying the game?
