Still, a very confusing thing to the general user. Most would think you have to wait. Very bad implementation and I would hope the final is not like this.
i'll try. maybe I'm too quick with my button presses. I wouldn't even wait sometimes and it still wouldnt be responsive to my input. My controller is brand new. New batteries as well.

The procedure is basically a quick double hold of LB+RB and then a faceup button? This alone is giving me fits.

Here's two game segments, unedited, and without good o'l commentary.

This is maybe my 5th game, an hour or so of game time experience before this was recorded.

Be warned, this video, I was using the alternate control scheme, which appears to be broken/unresponsive. Pressing X after a quick pass should yield an instant shot attempt, but time after time, I was left with a delayed BUTTON response

N1

Thoughts:
-CPU Bynum is a complete basketball reject. IQ of a wanna be NBAer
-CPU reaches in almost every single time for the steal. Glad to see the occasional defensive foul.. Even Jermaine O'neal will have a help side SWAT on a ball.
-2:20 mark CPU BYNUM again doesnt even care whats going on with the ball. He now all of a sudden wants to guard his man 18 feet out... I guess the initial drive was my fault as I was playing on ball D.
-3:58 Pierece dunk has no reaction from my CPU teammates
-4:30 all too familiar now... Wacky AI and animation
-5:00. Another CPU Bynum miscue. This dude will cost me every single game with that sort of play

Overall, commentary and atmosphere I can get behind. Decent effort. Everything else just seems so mediocre. Im not sure what to think.

Game 2

Thoughts:
-1:20, Again Bynum does what he's doing best in Elite.
-3:00 Artest jumper had so much delay in the button presses with the Alternate control scheme. Shouldve happened more smoothly
-3:25 mark shows some RTP in action, I think. Garnett warps to a rebound, hitting Bynum. He stumbles. As gasol comes down, he hits Garnett forcing a bad shot.
-Right after that, Check out Paul Pierce. Is that momentum taking him away from the play. Artest with the coast to coast dunk
-3:50. User block... good? bad?
-The pass to Fisher was simply a normal alternate control "A" pass. The animation however looked more like a alley oop attempt.. Cost me the game

Bottomline: Is there any Signature play style for the CPU? It looks more like quick pass and shot. or an isolated type of drive. I saw one or two screens but as some are saying, it has a NCAA generic feel to it.

Through both vids, you may hear or see me using Kobe and the R stick dribbling controls to try and get some seperation on Ray Allen. Maybe that comes with time or the appropriate moves being used, but so far, it seems very blah to me

RD, I don't think it is both bumpers. I think it is just LB+face buttons.

You can either wait until the icons come up or press one of the buttons immediately and they will make the pass.

Been playing this for about 5 hours now as I mastered the new wacky control scheme.

Comparing this Elite 11 garbage to Live 10 is almost an insult to Live series and Mike Wang.

Elite 11 is simply not up to the standard.

If it was a ps1 game, I might've considered getting it for $2.

Player movements are way too jerky and plastic.

Rim physics are way off - the net moves as soon as the shot goes up (esp 3pt shots)

Honestly, this Elite rubbish is even worse than Sony NBA 09 The inside in every aspect

Don't be surprise if we get to witness something similar to what happened to Sony NBA series (nothing but history)

Just spent about 2 hours on this demo.....and I understand that it would take more than 2 hours to develop the thumb skills I need to dominate. That said, this demo and eventual game will be fighting an uphill battle.

It was hard for me not to go to the old controls because I felt like I wasn't able to do what I wanted to do. The graphics are terrible IMO. Everyone has the same body shape, no real differentiation in the player models other than the gear they are wearing and the numbers on the unis. I like the skill based shooting, once you get that down it seems it will fall no matter what defense is on you. I like the gather button as well, I can see this as a feature future games can use.

The animations look really wonky. From dunks, to ball trajectory and dribble moves, the game just looks awkward all over trying to pull it off. Rondo went to the basket on me and rose up from just inside the free throw line....off 2 feet?! Like he was driving, stopped, then rose up off 2 feet, and dunked it as if he was right under the basket....I scratched my head on that. Jump shots look really flat, like they all line drives (the ones that go in I mean, when you miss, you know it's off because it has more arc in it). Dribbling will take some getting use to, but still feels unnatural compared to Live 10.

All in all...good luck EA NBA Elite....

I think you have to turn on auto playcalling for the other team for them to run sets.

or

RB + RS for Freestyle passing

WTF!!!!!!!!! Are u serious????? This is the game?/ I felt like I was playing bulls vs blazers on sega genesis with better graphics. U gotta be joking about this demo. If the release game looks and feel anything like this, whats the point of even putting this out on the shelves. Now Imma gamer. Been since Atari, nintendo, etc..... I've damn near own every system that was ever made, but basketball is my passion. Played basketball every since I was a shorty (29 now). Now what I can say is that I played every basketball game ever made and this Nba elite 11 isn't cutting it to be on the systems now. Why did they think that it would be wise to merge NHL producer with NBA games????? I'm not a hockey player but I can tell that that game got alot more attention than Nba elite 11 did. I'm just saying.............

LB alone is BACKDOWN. LB+ face button gives you nothing.

The control settings has DIRECT "icon" PASSING as LB+RB +Face Buttons.

Try it for yourself. I wouldn't be causing a uproar for no reason. DIRECT passing is legitimately broken.

EDIT: RB+ Face is just as unresponsive. I'm not getting the hang of icon passing at all. Freestyle passing is what im using now as a substitute.

btw. Just had a sequence where I had two straight offensive rebounds. RTP all around as people just and fight for rebounds, and contesting shots. The fact that an offensive rebound is occuring there is highly questionable, but after the fact, the RTP animations all around are ON par with the other game or better.. It's the 4-5 second instances of RTP that throw me off. Nothin' for 3 minutes, then just a great PHYSICAL sequence, reels you into the game. Potential is definitely there..........eventually.

Thank you for the correction, as I'm not in front of the console.

LB backs down? Edit - You don't have to hold it either.

I want my Bandwith back from this download the game itself looks like a step back to last gen.... graphically and movement wise its not even on par with last years game... I understand they are looking for more control but this is extremely disappointing. I appreciate the effort but I am passing on this game NBA jam or not... Its not smooth in transitioning from one animation to another...

I liked it. Pretty much what I expected. The controls are pretty damn cool, everything else just needs a little work. They have the controls in, now for next year they can focus on animations, player models, sig shots etc.

Well, i share the negatives that people kept on making started from the first reviewer, i don't want to go over them again.

But i have to tell you how much potential i see in this game, it's definitely a base for the new era of sports gaming but this really doesn't justify the game as a good basketball game from what i can see.

But i should tell you that this game is a lot better than Live 10 when you master the controls and get a feel for it, still nowhere near that i had expected, if it was built in 2008 i would definitely get it day 1 but coming to late 2010 and 2011, it will be so hard to decide whether i want to spend my money on this or not.

The basics are there, controls are immense and open to great improvements. I hope ea will just try to build on what we have with Elite 11 and i see that if they keep on building we may have a great basketball game at the end of this so called 3 years plan.

Thnx for a great demo, too, very well detailed.

Edit: The more i play the better it gets i should tell, esp become legendary. And also baseline cam is a must to play better.

2nd edit: Just give more hours to play, i think i'm leaning to buy it.

The only thing I like about the control scheme is the precision shooting mechanic. It is cool that you can miss left or right depending on how you flick the right stick up. Now if this -- and only this -- was implimented into NBA Live 10 with some tweaks to the gameplay that was there last year, then I could see how this could be a gamechanger. But the negatives (animations, graphics, movement, AI) are just too much to overcome.

Played this demo on 360...

Have to say I am very disappointed... NBA LIVE 10 was a decent game, but Elite 11 just isn't

I'm not gonna talk about the control system, because i dont like it... I spent some time with it but I still prefer the traditional way, this new Total control does not make me feel in control in anyway better than the old one.

Even if the controls are set back to old settings, I still don't like this game. Because the new animation and the flow of the game just dont feel right. It feels like controlling a set of action figure toys rather than real human body.

# 436 Self313 @ 09/21/10 01:30 PM
pretty much sealed the deal wit this demo

trash... Im not goin to be mr nice guy Ive spent alot of hard earned money on these titles from them... I bought live 10... as the consumer Ive got the right to express my gripes...

and the look kills it for me... the controls are pretty dope but theres no defense really, terrible animations, unrealistic recovery times (specifically for blocks) na Im done... GOD BLESS elite

Nice contact animation with Sasha, followed by a replay from a play before. Kobe Rocket Dunk.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxKFHRrW9ME
The more I play, the easier blocks are. Which prior Live had this problem? 09 or 08? If you time it right, even on the highest level, youll get atleast 6 user blocks a game with SGs or SF.

First off... wow.. that is a ton of reading..

So, here is my honest impression...(for who cares), and then I have one question for REANIMATOR... (forgive me if I spelled it wrong)

I commend EA Sports for what they have done. I think that fora first year offering... they have done a tremendous job. There is a foundation set for them to improve upon with signature animations, more polished graphics, etc. etc. etc.
I think that knowing that this is a 3 year project.. and knowing next year will be heads and shoulders above this.. the fact they are packaging in NBA Jams is brilliant.
I really dig the controls, and I think this game just needs some polish and refinements and a few additional touches hear and there, and it is well on its way.

I give your guys kudos ... and despite what a lot of people say... its actually very fun, and the possibilities are tremendous...

NOW.... my question...
I will be purchasing this along with NBA 2K11... (I can't pass up Jordan, seeing as how I am from NC)...
BUT....
What system do you recommend? I have heard something about the game being ported from the 360 to the PS3, and it will run better on the 360. I just need to know if that was a demo thing, or if there is truth to that. Please advise... Thanks and keep up the great work!!!
